Abstract:The model of hybrid systems restricted to time-deterministic discrete transitions is presented. The quadratic optimal control problem for the hybrid systems is investigated based on mixed dynamical programming methods. The stability of the closed-loop hybrid systems is proved by Lyapunov method. A numerical example illustrates the effectiveness of the design approach.

Abstract:In order to solve the problem of stability of hybrid systems with arbitrary switching laws, a class of affine nonlinear hybrid system was investigated. The complete dehybridization of this class of system was firstly realized according to the order-reducing character and by designing the controlling laws of sliding mode control. The control design of the system was then carried out according to the control theories and methods applied to common continuous nonlinear systems. At last, a final sliding mode control law which ensures the stability of hybrid systems was obtained by transformation. The simulation results confirm the validity of the proposed control law.

Abstract:Linear switched systems are an important class of hybrid dynamic systems. The Stabilization is a basic problem for linear switched systems. To an example of linear switched systems, the relation of controllability and stabilization is discussed. It is shown that a controllable linear switched system can be stabilized by constant state feedback.

Abstract:The controllability for switched linear systems with time-delay in controls is first investigated. The whole work contains three parts. This is the third part. The definition and determination of controllability of switched linear systems with multiple time-delay in control functions is mainly investigated. The sufficient and necessary conditions for the one-periodic, multiple-periodic controllability of periodic-type systems and controllability of aperiodic systems are presented, respectively. Finally, the case of distinct delays is discussed, it is shown that the controllability is independent of the size of delays.

Abstract:A switching system always comprises of several subsystems and a rule supervising the switching between the subsystems. A major problem that is often inherent to all dynamical systems is actuator saturation. Saturation is a nonlinear property that nonlinearly maps small input signals to the output, which may affect the system properties and even destroy them. In this study, stability and stabilization of a class of switched stochastic systems with saturation control was investigated. First, the variation parameter method was used to present the integral form of switched stochastic systems. Second, to guarantee that the zero solution is globally exponentially stable in mean square, two sufficient conditions were obtained using direct computation with Gronwall inequality and indirect method with matrix theory, respectively. Further, another simple sufficient condition was obtained for the stability of the systems using the row norm, column norm, and Frobenius norm. Finally, two examples were used to illustrate the preciseness and effectiveness of the results. Moreover, various control designs were observed to stabilize the systems, which differ from the technique of linear matrix inequalities.

Abstract:The observability of linear hybrid system may be affected by control inputs, which include discrete and continuous control inputs. The observability of hybrid system involves initial discrete states, continuous states and discrete state switched time. The control inputs effect on system states (mainly effect on discrete states) are (analyzed.) The switching of discrete states may help to improve the observability of some linear hybrid system which is unobservable before discrete switch. And the weaker condition of hybrid system observability and rank test rules are given. An illustrative example is given at last.

Abstract:For the uncertain impulsive hybrid dynamic systems (IHDSs) and the hybrid cost functions,the synthesis method of the guaranteed cost control laws via hybrid state feedback is developed.By the obtained control law,the perturbed IHDS can be asymptotically stabilized and the closed-loop hybrid cost is not greater than a specified upper limit for all admissible uncertainties.The control law considered here consists of the discrete event dynamics as well as the continuous time dynamics.The discrete event dynamics of the control law doesnot need to coincide exactly with the controlled hybrid system,so that the continuous time subsystems of the controlled hybrid system are not required to be controllable.The simulation result shows the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Abstract:Optimal control of hybrid systems encounters the difficulty of computational complexity due to hybrid systems involving continuous variable and discrete variable.Hybrid model mixed with logics and rules is presented. Mixed integer nonlinear programming algorithm integrated constraint programming is applied to solve optimal control problems of hybrid model. The practical result shows that this method can build more precision model by utilizing mechanism model of industrial process and expert experience. And it also shows that the algorithm of mixed integer nonlinear programming integrated constraint programming can solve the optimal control problem of hybrid model rapidly. So this method can be used in real-time control of industrial process.

Abstract:Chaotic control in the hybrid chaotic system was discussed using the passive control theory. Based on the property of passive system, the essential conditions under which the hybrid chaotic system could be equivalent to a passive system via smooth state feedback were derived. It was found that weakly minimum phase and minimum phase nonlinear system had relative degree 1, which was transformed by the hybrid chaotic system.They could be globally asymptotically stabilized at different equilibrium points, provided that suitable controllability,such as rank conditions, were satisfied. Simulation results indicate that the proposed chaos control method is effective in hybrid chaotic systems.

Abstract:Many practical engineering problems can be modelled as such a class of hybrid dynamic systems (HDSs), where N plants are controlled by a central controller in sharing time manner. These plants are described by differential equations and the controller works according to the mechanism of discrete event. This paper discuss the controllability and stabilizability of this class of hybrid dynamic systems. First, we define the controllability of this class of HDSs and establish the necessary and sufficient condition for controllability. Furthermore, we define the stabilizability of this class of HDSs and establish the necessary and sufficient condition for stabilizability as well.

Abstract:Reachability and controllability of positive discrete-time switched linear systems are firstly studied in this paper. First, a theoretic equivalent condition for reachability is addressed. A sufficient condition is also presented, but a counterexample shows that it is not necessary. A verifiable equivalent condition is given for a class of systems. Next, we show that reachability and null controllability is equivalent to complete controllability. A equivalent condition for null controllability is addressed and a verifiable one is given for a class of systems.

Abstract:In this paper, the hybrid controllability and mode controllability of switched linear systems are investigated. It is proved that, for switched linear systems, the hybrid controllability is equivalent to the state controllability. Based on this fact, a sufficient and necessary condition for hybrid controllability of switched linear systems is established. Furthermore, the results are extended to switch linear systems with time-delay in control. Two examples are provided to illustrate our results.

Abstract:A switched linear system is said to be controllable, if for any given initial state and terminal state, one call find a switching sequence and corresponding input such that the system call be driven from the initial state to the terminal state. Necessary and sufficient condition oil the controllability of switched linear systems has been established, and a single switching sequence call be constructed to realize the controllability. In this paper, the stabilizability problem for switched linear systems is formulated and we show that controllability implies stabilizability for switched linear systems. In our framework, we employ periodically switching signal and piecewise constant feedback controller. Two stabilization design methods, the pole assignment method and the linear matrix inequality method are proposed. Furthermore, if a switched linear system is both controllable and observable, ail observer-based Output feedback controller can be constructed when the system state is not available. In this case, the well-known Separation Principle is shown to still hold. All these results are built upon our previously established fundamental geometric properties of controllability realization as well as the important fact that both controllability and observability call be realized through a single switching sequence.

Abstract:We study the controllability of switched linear systems. First, the concept of controllable state set is introduced as the basic tool for evaluating the controllability. We then prove that, for a switched linear system, there exists a basic switching sequence such that the controllable state set of this basic switching sequence is equal to the controllable state set of the system. Hence, the controllability can be realized by using only one switching sequence. This striking fact reveals some intrinsic properties of switched linear systems, and is the most fundamental starting point for further development. Based on this fact, a necessary and sufficient condition for controllability of switched linear systems is established. Furthermore, these results are extended to switched linear systems with time-delay. A geometric criterion for controllability of switched time-delay systems is established as well. Illustrative examples are provided.

Abstract:In this paper, the stability of hybrid systems is studied. At first, we give a general model for hybrid systems which can describe the jump phenomena of the hybrid states. Next, an auxiliary function is defined as the abstract measure of the system energy. Based on this model and the function, some new sufficient conditions for the stability of hybrid systems are established. Due to the jump of the hybrid states, the energy of the system may be increasing. In this case the stability of hybrid systems can be guaranteed by these new conditions. We then provide one method to search for the auxiliary function. At the end of the paper, the effectiveness of the method is illustrated by the simulation example.
