Abstract:Reduction of the hydration heat during cementation of radioactive resins can reduce thermal stresses and prevent thermal cracks. Zeolite, quenching slag, furnace slag and fly ash were added as supplementary materials to reduce the hydration heat with the compressive strength then measured for the various supplementary materials. The tests also measured the temperature under the same heat-release conditions for the various materials. The mixture with 20% zeolite had the best strength and was selected for further study. The temperature curves when 20% zeolite was added to ASC cement were measured in a 200 L cementation process. The results showed that the highest temperature was 75.4 ℃ with no cracks inside the solidified column. The resin loading rate in the matrix can reach 55%~60% by volume. This mixture has excellent properties and can be used for effective resin cementation.
