Abstract:It is important for quality inspection to quickly identify the correctness of the installation position of corrugated pipes and rebars on construction site. A point clouds and machine learning-based automated recognition and measurement method was developed for long reinforcement cages with corrugated pipes of concrete beams. A segmentation framework combining radius nearest-neighbor covariance characteristics and a clustering algorithm is proposed to extract information of reinforcement cages and corrugated pipes. Besides, the rebars and corrugated pipes are fitted based on an improved random sample consensus method and Newton iteration circle fitting method, respectively. Experimental results demonstrated that the measurement error of the positions of corrugated pipes was only 1.84%. The measurement accuracy of the stirrup spacing was 98.00%. The proposed method is feasible and accurate for identifying reinforcement cages and corrugated pipes, so that construction control and assurance can be achieved for the large precast concrete components.

Abstract:In order to identify automatically the guided wave signal reflected from the end of an expressway guardrail post and further inspect the buried depth of the guardrail post,the phase characteristic of the guided wave at the end of the guardrail post was analyzed and investigated.It is concluded that the echo signal from the end face has the characteristic of reverse-phase with the excitation pulse signal through deducing and calculating the reflection coefficient.The simulation signals obtained by the finite element simulation software of ABAQUS and the measured signals of the guided wave were decomposed sparsely by using a matching pursuit algorithm based on Gabor dictionary respectively,then the phase characteristic of the echo signals were verified by the phase parameters of matching atoms.The measured signals were collected by detecting identify buried and free guardrail posts using T (0,1) mode guided wave with the frequency of 64 kHz and 128 kHz,respectively.The experimental results of the simulated and measured signals are in good agreement with those of the theoretical analysis.The phase characteristic analysis of the echo signal provides a new way to the signal processing in guided wave detections.

Abstract:A straight-line track model is developed,and validity of Kalman filter track reconstruction algorithm with the track model was verified in detail.It shows that given sufficient hits track parameters converge to true values.The track reconstruction program is implemented in MarlinTPC reconstruction framework in practice.By choosing track reconstruction parameters reasonably,the program discriminates noise efficiently and reconstructs tracks.The algorithm is valuable in track reconstruction of large prototypes.

Abstract:A GEANT4 based, Object-Oriented package, TrkExtAlg, is developed for extrapolating the BESIII MDC track into outer sub-detectors. The magnetic deflection and ionization loss of the particle in the BESIII detector is considered, the algorithm supplies the position and the momentum of the track in all the outer sub-detectors, as well as the error matrix at any given hit point with the multiple scattering effect taken into account. Through comparing the results of track extrapolation with the results of a full simulation and checking the results and application of track matching with hits in outer sub-detectors, TrkExtAlg is proved to be reliable.

Abstract:The paper introduces a kind of tracks inspection instrumentation based on coordinate transformation matrix algorithm. It is composed of two handy carts. Variation of inspected tracks status can be denoted by three relative turning angles under the two coordinate systems of the two carts by means of coordinate transformation matrix, and tracks geometry parameters can be obtained using the matrix recursion algorithm. The instrumentation can carry out inspections such as track height, height irregularity, level irregularity, triple pit, track gauge and so on. The article elaborates the coordinate transformation algorithm and the design of the instrumentation.

Abstract:At present, the detection of subway track irregularities is mainly carried out by track inspection vehicles and track inspection trolleys. Such detections are restricted by subway service time, so they can only be carried out once every few months. This study explored the possibility of using the vibration of the vehicle body collected by a novel portable detector to detect track geometry irregularities. It makes a particular contribution to the dynamic detection of track conditions and the reduction of maintenance costs. Based on the data collected by the portable detector, wavelet transform was used to analyze the vibration of the vehicle body. The results confirmed that this method was effective in enhancing the correlation between vibration accelerations and track irregularities. Second, a data set processed by wavelet transform was resampled by a hybrid sampling method which uses clustering methods and considers data imbalance within each category. In this way, the imbalance ratio of the data set was found to be reduced without changing the original data set structure. Finally, the random forest algorithm and the gradient boost decision tree algorithm were adopted for classifying track regularity and irregularity data. The results showed that both two algorithms, especially the random forest algorithm, performed well for the longitudinal level track irregularity and the alignment track irregularity.

Abstract:Shield tunnel is widely used in underground traffic engineering and underground pipeline structure, and the structure health monitoring is an important project to ensure the long-term health and safety of tunnels. Regarding to the deformation characteristics of shield tunnel, this paper presents a new method for the layout of sensing fiber based on BOFDA. By analyzing the plane geometry, the relationship between strain and deformation of segment dislocation was determined. The test accuracy and sensitivity of this method depends on fixed point distance. Laboratory test was conducted and the calculated results with this method had good consistency with the results by conventional dial meters. Using this long distance, high-density, high-accuracy and lost-cost health monitoring method, the safety of shield tunnel can be greatly ensured.

Abstract:Track inspection system employs the technologies such as six degrees of freedom STEWART platform to simulate multidimen-sional motion of bogie and a four-channel electric servo platform analog vertical and lateral horizontal movement of the two tracks. This ar-ticle discusses the mathematical modeling of the STEWART platform, and to establish mechanisms for coordination and synchronization control track four-channel analog platform. The development of control systems software that enables synchronous motion control of six de-grees of freedom inspection beams and track platform, which can simulate actual movement of track detection beam and track in the labora-tory. It provides a means to simulate actual working conditions in the laboratory for a variety of on-board track inspection equipment.

Abstract:During the process of railgun launching, due to the large current across the interface between the rails and the armature, a series of damage phenomena, i.e. gouging, edge erosion, deposition, etc., will be appeared on the rails. Those phenomena not only shorten the railsâ€™ lifetime but also affect the interior ballistic performance. Therefore, to understand the effect of these different forms of the rail degradation, it is necessary to obtain the surface geometry appearance of the rails. A new three-dimensional surface scanning technology based on the binocular stereovision theory is proposed to adapt complex in-bore environment. Verification experiment shows that this surface scanning technology is feasible, but still needs improvement.

Abstract:With the rapid development of urban rail transit and the aging of transportation infrastructure, the demand for shield tunnel disaster detection is about to break out. Most of the traditional monitoring methods require considerable manpower and time costs, which cannot satisfy the increasing requirements of tunnel operation and maintenance. Free-form model construction and deviation mechanism analysis are investigated in this paper to monitor the geometric deformation information of shield tunnels quickly and accurately. A method for identifying geometric features of tunnel sections based on the free-form B-spline approximation is proposed. The innovation of this paper lies in the intelligent recognition of common interference targets by the residual classification method. Furthermore, various Root Mean Squared Error (RMSE) distributions are investigated, which successfully realizes and verifies the clustering analysis of certain point cloud features.

Abstract:As a core infrastructure of high-speed railways, ballast layers constituted by graded crushed stones feature noteworthy particle movement compared with normal railways, which may cause excessive settlement and have detrimental effects on train operation. However, the movement behavior remains ambiguous due to a lack of effective measurement approaches and analytical methods. In this study, an image-aided technique was developed in a full-scale model test using digital cameras and a color-based identification approach. Nearly 1274 surface ballast particles were manually dyed by discernible colors to serve as tracers in the test. The movements of the surface ballast particles were tracked using the varied pixels displaying tracers in the photos that were intermittently taken during the test in the perpendicular direction. The movement behavior of ballast particles under different combinations of train speeds and axle loads was quantitatively evaluated. The obtained results indicated that the surface ballast particle movements were slight, mainly concentrated near sleepers under low-speed train loads and greatly amplified and extended to the whole surface when the train speed reached 360 km·h-1. Additionally, the development of ballast particle displacement statistically resembled its rotation. Track vibration contributed to the movements of ballast particles, which specifically were driven by vertical acceleration near the track center and horizontal acceleration at the track edge. Furthermore, the development trends of ballast particle movements and track settlement under long-term train loading were similar, and both stabilized at nearly the same time. The track performance, including the vibration characteristics, accumulated settlement and sleeper support stiffness, was determined to be closely related to the direction and distribution of ballast particle flow, which partly deteriorated under high-speed train loads.

Abstract:Reconstruction of tracks of charged particles with high precision is very crucial for HEP experiments to achieve their physics goals. As the tracking detector of BESIII experiment, the BESIII drift chamber has suffered from aging effects resulting in degraded tracking performance after operation for about 15 years. To preserve and enhance the tracking performance of BESIII, one of the proposals is to add one layer of thin CMOS pixel sensor in cylindrical shape based on the state-of-the-art stitching technology, between the beam pipe and the drift chamber. The improvement of tracking performance of BESIII with such an additional pixel detector compared to that with only the existing drift chamber is studied using the modern common tracking software ACTS, which provides a set of detector-agnostic and highly performant tracking algorithms that have demonstrated promising performance for a few high energy physics and nuclear physics experiments.

Abstract:Through the establishment of tree diagram of contours,in this paper we determined the internal and external properties of contours and the relationship between the contours of nesting each other,and reduced the search range of counter matching as well.Based on tree diagram of contours,we found contours by using threshold radius and determined corresponding relation of contours on adjacent sections.Through recognizing the number and position of the nodes in tree diagram of contours,we determined branches place.By using weighting and contours complementing as the segmentation method,and combining with interlayer interpolation,we separated the mother contour to solve the branch problem and reconstructed the surface.

Abstract:The dynamic performance of straddle monorail train is closely related to the track irregularity. However, there is little research on the track irregularity of straddle monorail , and its semi-random particularity makes it impossible to use the existing track spectrum. In this paper, the irregularity of the running surface of PC beam of monorail is measured, the elevation map is drawn, and the expression of the random irregularity of the track is obtained; the irregularity of finger-band and the deflection of PC beam under dead load are studied; a method is proposed to descript the track irregularity for straddle type monorail, the running surface of straddle monorail is reconstructed, and the correctness is verified by comparing with the test.

Abstract:The security and convenience of high-speed railways depend on the high reliability and high stability of ballastless tracks. To ensure track regularity, it is necessary to measure the height deviation of each rail bearing platform before laying the steel rail. By adjusting the fastening system, the rail could reach the design height and be at the same level. Conventionally, the height deviation of the bearing platform is measured through the contact walking measurement system. However, there are shortcomings such as few measurement points, long preparation time and low efficiency. In this paper, a fusion measurement method based on digital image correlation method and total station is proposed to solve these shortcomings. A measuring equipment consisting of dual cameras and reflecting prisms is assembled to measure the height deviation of bearing platforms (675 mm × 275 mm × 28 mm) on the high-speed railway track slab (5600 mm × 2500 mm). The three-dimensional contour of each bearing platform is measured using three-dimensional digital image correlation method and unified by locating the position of the reflecting prisms using the total station. In real applications, the height deviation of each bearing platform is measured with high accuracy, the contour measurement accuracy of a single bearing platform is better than 0.1 mm. More importantly, the range of ballastless tracks with bearing platforms to be detected in a single day is increased from the original 500 m to 5000 m without increasing the measurement error. The efficiency is increased by 10 times. The paper achieved the height deviation detection of rail bearing platform with high precision and high efficiency, contributing to improving the construction efficiency.

Abstract:With the development of shield tunnel technique and solution of some problems,the problems such as segment crack,difficulty in connection,and waterproof trouble are becoming more serious and obvious.These problems may impact the construction and its application directly.This paper is based on the shield tunnel project in the west line of the Rail Traffic Line NO.2 in Shanghai,and the dislocation of the shield segments in the jacking process is surveyed on the spot.After the surveying,calculation of the surveying data,drawing figures and data comparison,some regularity and characters of the segment dislocation are worked out,including the relationship between them and the related factors such as jacking force.So this paper may provide some rules to avoid shield segment dislocation in the jacking process,ensuring the constructing precision and improving the construction quality.
