Abstract:PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) is successfully applied in Huzhou Central Hospital, and is well integrated with its HIS system by WEBSERVICE middleware. The system supports DICOM 3.0 Standard, and DICOM gateways are installed for modalities that do not support DICOM so as to have implemented the digitalization of all the image departments in the hospital.

Abstract:Objective To summarize the malfunctions frequently occurring during the clinical application of Picture Archiving and Communication Systems(PACS) & Radiology Information System(RIS) and corresponding solutions.Methods PACS/RIS(GE Centricity Enterprise V3.0) is built up with the local area network in the hospital,recording malfunctions and corresponding solutions during its application.Results To solve those common malfunctions concerning PACS,HIS(Hospital Information System)and hardware devices,it is of great necessity for staff in Department of Radiology to record them,then exclude the possibilities one by one and initiate the emergency plan so as to ensure the continuation of diagnostic work.Conclusion Stable and efficient operation of PACS/RIS is pivotal to the daily diagnostic work for Department of Radiology.

Abstract:According to the characteristics of our hospital,we establish a PACS/RIS system by adopting individual adaptive compartments and design,and study the net connection methods,key technique as well as the application value of the PACS/RIS system.As a result,PACS/RIS system enables the interchange of images among different models,brings about the centralized storage,the transference and process of remote images,and accomplishes the digitalization of registration and reporting.It optimizes the work flow for the radiography department.

Abstract:Huadong hospital in Shanghai with 700 beds provides health care services for inpatients and outpatients, as well as special senior and VIP patients. In order to move to digital imaging based radiology practice, and also provide better intra-hospital clinical services for senior and VIP patients, we started designing and planning PACS implementation from September of 1999. Based on the radiology service model and current workflow in Huadong hospital, we implemented PACS in following steps: In phase I, we designed PALS infrastructure and implemented PACS networks connecting to most digital modalities, reading rooms and clinical buildings, we also built NT-based module PALS for every kind of digital imaging modality with DICOM communication capability. In phase II, we developed an UNIX based PACS central server connecting to the individual module PACS for image routing, querying and retrieving among different departments and modality sections, and also installed specially designed interactive teleconsultation display workstations in radiology sections and clinical departments for consultation services. In phase III, we will integrate RIS into PACS infrastructure to optimize PACS dataflow and improve radiology workflow to achieve better performance and more efficient services. In this presentation, we will also discuss the PACS design strategies and implementation methods in Huadong hospitals to decrease the risks and to increase the positive responses from the partners and end users.

Abstract:Objectives:To building a standardization PACS platform to resolve the universal problems encountered in the process of radiology PACSextended to the clinical department,reducing input costs,improve compatibility and usefulness system.Methods:By making standard main index of theexamination information database,using DICOM standard interface to receiving all kind of DICOM format medical imaging,stored in IPSAN disk array,tomeet clinical demand.Results:With a specialization definition of the patient unique identifier and PACS database,using standard DICOM storage SCU/SCPand DICOM Query/Retrieve SCU/SCP service to receive or distribute DICOM images,enable to unified manage and share the data of different modality,thecompatibility issues of heterogeneous system were resolved.The mode of tiered data management,IPSAN network storage and data compression technologywould greatly improve storage efficiency,Reducing the long-term investment.Conclusions:Public platform construction of PACS will have the feature ofregional medical,Data compatible with different PACS vendors,realize optimization of cost,maximize information sharing,resource integration.

Abstract:Following along the medical digital developing continually, the traditional image of film formats is replaced gradually by the Picture Archiving and Communications system (PACS).PACS became an information platform in communion with the hospital images information, which is the important link of the digital information to the hospital. At present, the application of PACS in the department of the hospital images is still the probation stage so that many hospitals weren't enough familiar with the system. Then, the data collection processes according with medical digital image were summarized to the microcomputer PACS. Hence, PACS will be more actually applied in medical treatment system, and more effectively increased the hospital for medical services and management and diagnosis of disease level.

Abstract:In this paper, we give a solution of developing a RIS-integrated PACS system especially for medium and small hospitals, or community clinics. Based on the IHE's technical framework for information interchange and data workflow, fully consider the department of radiology's requirements of radiological examination, diagnosis on images, reporting, workflow management, we design and implement a RIS-Integrated PACS system. This presentation gave a new approach to realize full digital management in department of radiology and seamless integration with modalities,RIS,HIS and community electronic patient records (EPR).In order to guarantee the quality of imaging diagnosis in community hospitals or clinics, the design and implementation of RIS-integrated PACS should adopt the international (national) standards such as IHE、HL7、DICOM XML etc in image communication and work flow management, also the image data and diagnostic reports should be treated as parts of EPR or EHR in regional healthcare information systems.

Abstract:Objective To demonstrate the contribution of the picture archiving and communication system (PACS) to various aspects of a hospital operating methods, management and services by the establishment and application of the large scale PACS system. Method The comparison of various parameters and factors before and after the establishment and application of the PACS was conducted by using the statistic analyses of the diagnostic workload/non diagnostic workload ratio, the percentage of the traceable scientific data, the X ray film retrievals, unit service cost, and the patients' waiting duration in the hospital. Results After the establishment of PACS, the emergency imaging examination time was reduced by 64% in average; the data saving percentage was improved by 50%; the time of reporting was greatly shortened; the film consumption was decreased by 33%; the efficacy of images retrievals was increased by 95%; And there were improvements at different degrees in many other aspects. Conclusion It is very important to establish a PACS system that will meet the practical requirements of a hospital, and the system will play a positive promoting role in the improvement of the hospital operating procedure and management and all other aspects.

Abstract:Objective To evaluate the value of picture archiving and communication system(PACS)and radiology infor-mation system(RIS)in the daily work of radiologist.Methods With the PACS,the medical images of X-ray,CR,CT,MRI have been successfully finished storage and transmission.Using the image workstation,the radiologist can review,measure,copy,magnify or shrink and make date statistical analysis of the images,also can adjust the window width and window level.According the imaging features,radiologist made up and printed the diagnostic reports in RIS by modi-fying the model of diagnosis report.Results After more than two years practice,the radiologists in our department all have mastered the methods of application of PACS/RIS.With this system,non-film reading to diagnose have been carried out,the quality of imaging diagnoses has been improved,the time for patient waiting for diagnostic report has been shorten,and the works of teaching and researching have been remarkably enhanced.Conclusion By using the PACS/RIS,the radiologist has obviously increased the working efficiency,a patient does not need long time for waiting the diagnostic report.

Abstract:Objective To analyze the influence of PACS on the image of the Department process and management mode.Method To break the traditional mode,the new technology of PACS,the image of the overall process into PACS system,and realizes the transmission and storage of image data.Results after my courtyard PACS enabled system since the beginning of 2011,the reading time cut by an average of 20 minutes,radiology examination ability increased nearly one times,image data transmission speed is improved about 30%,data loss rate declined by seven percentage points,the actual work efficiency increased nearly doubled,while the inspection rate by nearly half,storage without film for my department to save seventy square meters of storage space.Conclusion PACS for the optimization of our hospital management,improve medical quality,simplify work flow,reduce the economic burden of patients,improve the efficiency of medical work has profound significance.

Abstract:Objective This article, by implementation and evaluation of a monitoring programme in PACS system, brings forward and discusses the issues of database security, which have to pay much attention to when integrating a PACS. Methods Our PACS system has been mostly integrated by a controller server (Fire V480, SUN Corp.) and a SCSI RAID (redundant array of inexpensi\e disks. RAID) of 800GB. The different imaging modalities have been connected to the PACS server by using a star topology. Image display workstations have been connected to the PACS server by a bus topology through switch equipments. A special web server has been linked to display workstations (personal computers) as our RIS system, whose database is directly controlled by the PACS server. Security monitoring for database utilizes images workflow and runs monitoring programme-'PACSMON', which can monitor the workflow and the use of images. Security monitoring for text files (diagnostic reports) has been performanced by monitoring the database flow of RIS system. Results After 10 months running of our PACS system, the PACSMON has perfectly showed acts of querying and retrieving of images on the whole. and monitored working status of any display workstations on real time. Especially for the acts of querying and retrieving, the PACSMON can accurately show the location of display workstations and the quantity. frequency of querying and retrieving, and has effectively controlled the system to be attacked and the images to be stolen. Conclusions The operating management of PACS must resolve some following problems:1.the security of system running; 2. the security of system database; 3.the security of images and files content; 4.the lose of database transmitted.

Abstract:Objective To implement PACS and its integration with HIS in the shelter hospital for Chinese People's Armed Police Forces,and to take good use of medical imaging equipment.Methods The seamless integration of PACS and HIS was analyzed based on the operation requirements of the shelter hospital and the status of hospital imaging equipment.Information and resources sharing was pursued for digital hospital.Results PACS integration of the machines of CT,X-ray and ultrasonic was realized for clinical diagnosis in disaster relief.Conclusion PACS contributes a lot to the rapid diagnosis ability of the shelter hospital for Chinese People's Armed Police Forces.
