Abstract:PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) is successfully applied in Huzhou Central Hospital, and is well integrated with its HIS system by WEBSERVICE middleware. The system supports DICOM 3.0 Standard, and DICOM gateways are installed for modalities that do not support DICOM so as to have implemented the digitalization of all the image departments in the hospital.

Abstract:The development of hospital business demands the integration of information systems. After studying the relative technologies for system connection,system integration and different modes of connecting system, we put forward a protocol to integrate the existing laboratory information system( LIS) and hospital information system(HIS). It introduces the multi-tier distributed technical methods for improving the client/server applications; it ascertains the units and transactions participating in workflow integration by referencing the IHE( Integrating the Healthcare Enterprises) Laboratory Technology Framework; it implements information exchange by Health Level 7(HL7) standards; and it can conserve previous investment and avoid some problems of security, maintenance and realtime process without the risk of massively updating system.

Abstract:The idea behind hospital information systems is to make all of a patient's medical reports, lab results, and images electronically available to clinicians, instantaneously, wherever they are, But the higgledy-piggledy evolution of most hospital computer systems makes it hard to integrate all these clinical records. Although several integration standards had been proposed to meet this challenge, none of them is fit for hospitals in China. This paper introduces our work of implementing a three-tiered architecture enterprise viewer in Huzhou Central Hospital to integrate all existing medical information systems using limited resource.

Abstract:This paper demonstrates the integration of hospital information systems based on cloud computing. Our country's continuous promotion of the"digital hospital"these years, resulting in the constant expansion of its scale, the constant increase of its complexity, and the rapidly increasing number of server. At the same time, the maintenance work is also facing a great challenge. Cloud computing technology can separate the physical hardware from the operating system or application software, thus allowing multiple operating systems independently operate on the same physical machine, and can save the total cost of ownership. Ensemble integration platform can realize the effective integration of a variety of heterogeneous information systems. Therefore, the combination of the two can improve the utilization of the resources of the hospital information system, while increasing management flexibility.

Abstract:Objective To design the integration interface between HIS and RIS/PACS based on HL7. Methods The interface was designed by analyzing the HL7 message format and considering the current integrated data exchange process of HIS and RIS/PACS. Results The HL7 integration between HIS and RIS/PACS was achieved. Conclusion By using HL7 to integrate HIS and RIS/PACS, working efficiency in hospitals has been improved with the coupling of systems reduced and the extensibility and maintainability greatly enhanced.

Abstract:In this paper, we give a solution of developing a RIS-integrated PACS system especially for medium and small hospitals, or community clinics. Based on the IHE's technical framework for information interchange and data workflow, fully consider the department of radiology's requirements of radiological examination, diagnosis on images, reporting, workflow management, we design and implement a RIS-Integrated PACS system. This presentation gave a new approach to realize full digital management in department of radiology and seamless integration with modalities,RIS,HIS and community electronic patient records (EPR).In order to guarantee the quality of imaging diagnosis in community hospitals or clinics, the design and implementation of RIS-integrated PACS should adopt the international (national) standards such as IHE、HL7、DICOM XML etc in image communication and work flow management, also the image data and diagnostic reports should be treated as parts of EPR or EHR in regional healthcare information systems.

Abstract:In medical clinical practice, physicians need to acquire the image and text information of the patient. All the information will be of benefit for physicians to diagnose disease, improve clinical treatment, and do research work. But the information is distributed in different systems, such as medical image information in PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) and text records in HIS (Hospital Information System). Today many hospitals are suffering from lack of an integrated system with PACS and HIS. This paper compares PACS with HIS and puts forward a distributed integration method of integrating the PACS and HIS with the prevailing WWW technology. In such a method, the image and the text information are regarded as the common object and the operation whereon as the object operation. Thus the method integrates the PACS with HIS effectively and implements the information resources sharing with the use of web technology.

Abstract:Purpose:To investigate the large-scale hospital healthcare information-sharing and medical image resources methodology. Methods:With the IHE technical framework as our theoretical guidance, we have proposed an platform for medical imaging information integration and its open system according to the actual requirements from domestic hospitals. Through close collaboration with various manufacturers, we have implemented an initial enterprise-class platform to achieve the unity of DICOM image archiving and image publishing.Results:The practice reveals that the effective platform has improved clinicians’ efficiency in using medical images, enhanced clinical quality, and facilitated the medical IT technician’s central management of image information.Conclusion: The implementation of the enterprise imaging information platform based on the IHE technical framework was proved to be feasible, reliable and effective.

Abstract:Huadong hospital in Shanghai with 700 beds provides health care services for inpatients and outpatients, as well as special senior and VIP patients. In order to move to digital imaging based radiology practice, and also provide better intra-hospital clinical services for senior and VIP patients, we started designing and planning PACS implementation from September of 1999. Based on the radiology service model and current workflow in Huadong hospital, we implemented PACS in following steps: In phase I, we designed PALS infrastructure and implemented PACS networks connecting to most digital modalities, reading rooms and clinical buildings, we also built NT-based module PALS for every kind of digital imaging modality with DICOM communication capability. In phase II, we developed an UNIX based PACS central server connecting to the individual module PACS for image routing, querying and retrieving among different departments and modality sections, and also installed specially designed interactive teleconsultation display workstations in radiology sections and clinical departments for consultation services. In phase III, we will integrate RIS into PACS infrastructure to optimize PACS dataflow and improve radiology workflow to achieve better performance and more efficient services. In this presentation, we will also discuss the PACS design strategies and implementation methods in Huadong hospitals to decrease the risks and to increase the positive responses from the partners and end users.

Abstract:There are about 30/mon consultation meetings held in Huadong Hospital in Shanghai for senior and VIP patients. In order to move to digital imaging based radiology practice in the radiology department, and also provide more efficient clinical services, we built a PACS connecting to the DICOM conformance modalities. The specially designed teleconsultation workstations were installed in the radiology department and clinical departments for better consultation services. The images generated from the modalities were sent from PACS server to these workstations following normal PALS image data flow. Both clinical physicians and radiologists used these teleconsultation display workstations for imaging viewing, as well as for real time consultation meetings, which provide synchronous mechanism in image processing and manipulation. With these display workstations, the either side of physicians located in clinical departments, or the radiologists in radiology department can synchronize their activities on the displayed images to obtain "I-see-what-you-see", and "you-see-what-I-am-doing" fashions. With these facilities, both radiologists and clinical physicians can interactively manipulate the reviewed images to achieve improved mutual understanding of the ramification of given cases.

Abstract:With the increasingly focus on medical resources all over China and the rapid development of medical undertakings, building up of medical groups and Health Alliance have become the effective method to promoting the development of health institutions. It can not only bring complementary advantages, shared resources and mutual benefit, but also great conveniences for patients. For hospital informatization is the vital method of hospital management, thus information system targeted for collectivized hospitals becomes the significant direction for HIS plan. Based on the real requirement, this paper makes the plan on the following two aspects: network plan and information system. For the former one, it could realize the internal business network by using optical network;for the later one, plans on information system could be divided to group levels and hospital levels. With the help of group level informatization, information exchange and business collaboration between hospitals could be realized. It could also meet the management requirements of different hospitals. The planning in this paper could bring evidence for the informatization construction of collectivized hospitals.

Abstract:As the rapid advancement and wide application of computer hardware, software and network, hospital information systems (HISs) have entered almost all hospitals in China and are becoming more important and covering more parts in daily hospital operations. Most functions in a HIS provide the users an easier and faster way in doing their medical tasks with graphic user interface. But the HIS is a management information system focusing on daily operations within hospital to improve efficiency of work by using online clinical data acquisition and processing. So, to some extent, a HIS improve quality of health care services, but it cannot measure and evaluate the quality of health care services. At present, hospitals in China are in a competitive environment. In order to attract more patients, high customers' satisfaction is most important for a hospital in the competition. Hospital services management system (HSMS), which is an information system of health care services management in hospital can improve quality of service and lead to cost reduction, high customers' satisfaction and great attractability to other hospitals' customers. In this paper, we study the HSMS. The main work as follows: review services management and HIS, analyze the contents of health care services management and the functions of a HSMS, design the framework of a HSMS, study the implementation technology of a HSMS, discuss the how to integrate a HSMS into a HIS.
