Abstract:Calcium plays an important role in human health.Lack of calcium intake causes many kinds of diseases,especially osteoporosis.Animal bone provides an important way of obtaining calcium.Fishbone is a kind of natural calcium resource,and it has the merits of high absorbability and low side effects on human.Till now,most of researches on utilization of fishbone have focused on the preparation of calcium tablet from seawater fish,such as haddock,using acid or alkali method.Ultrafine comminution technology is widely used in food processing to make ultrafine powder,and is given more attention nowadays.The ultrafine powder has many particular characteristics,such as increasing the utilization rate of materials,improving performances and the quality of products.Absorption of ultra-micro calcium powder with rich nutrition improved with smaller average particle size.Increasing processing of goosefish(Lophius litulon) is associated with a large amount of waste fish bone and fish head,which will cause environment pollution and resource waste as well.How to utilize this kind of calcium source efficiently is now one of the focuses in the field of fish processing.Nevertheless,no research on goosefish bone using ultrafine comminution technology has been found yet.In this study,ultramicro calcium powders were prepared from goosefish bone by enzymatic hydrolysis followed by ultrafine comminution technique,and the bioavailability of the obtained bone powder was investigated as well.The results showed that the removal rate achieved 33.8% under the optimum purification conditions of goosefish bone hydrolized by 1300 U/g alkaline protease at temperature of 50℃,for 2.5 h.Particle size distribution of calcium powders by superfine comminution for 100min was narrow,and the average particle size reached the minimum of 626.9 nm.The results of animal experiments showed that the bioavailability of ultramicro calcium powders of goosefish bone was much higher,and ultramicro calcium powders by superfine comminution for 100min exhibited calcium absorption rates of 79.3%-83.5%,which is obviously higher than that of the calcium carbonate control group.Goosefish ultramicro calcium powder prepared under the optimum conditions had pure white color,good appearance quality,and no peculiar smell with calcium content of 29.5%.It was considered as a kind of safe calcium supplementation of high quality and bioavailability.
Effects of Partial Substitution of Fish Meal with Soybean Products and Chicken Meal on Growth, Antioxidant Capacity and Intestinal Microbiota of Penaeus Monodon

Abstract:The aim of this experiment was to investigate the effects of the partial substitution of fish meal with soybean products and chicken meal on the growth performance, antioxidant capacity and intestinal microbiota of Penaeus monodon. A total of 450 healthy, consistent shrimp were randomly divided into five groups, with three replicates per group and 30 shrimp per replicate. The proportion of fish meal substituted with soybean products and chicken meal in the five feed groups was 0% (FM), 40% (40SC), 60% (60SC), 80% (80SC) and 100% (100SC). The experiment lasted for 8 weeks. The results showed that, compared to the FM group, the 40SC and 60SC groups had a decrease in WG and SR, but there was no significant difference (p > 0.05). In contrast, compared to the FM group, the FCR in the 100SC group was significantly increased (p < 0.05), while there was no significant difference among the FM and 40SC, 60SC and 80SC groups (p > 0.05). Compared to the FM group, the ACP in the 80SC and 100SC groups significantly increased (p < 0.05), while the 40SC and 60SC groups had no significant difference (p > 0.05). The AKP in the 100SC group was significantly higher than that in the FM group (p < 0.05), while there were no significant differences among the other four groups (p > 0.05). There were no significant differences in T-AOC and T-SOD among all the treatment groups (p > 0.05). The next-generation sequencing of the intestinal microbiota showed that Proteobacteria was the most abundant phylum in the five groups, accounting for 37.67%, 66%, 40%, 40% and 43.33%, respectively. Compared to the FM group, the Fusobacteriota in the other four groups decreased significantly (p < 0.05). The functional prediction of FAPROTAX indicated that no functional components were observed which are harmful to the body. Considering the effects on growth performance, antioxidant capacity and intestinal microbiota, it is feasible to use soybean products and chicken meal to replace 60% of fish meal in the feed of P. monodon.

Abstract:The generation of solids by aquaculture activities has led to many problems in animal welfare, environmental quality, water treatment effects and public health, such as gill and intestinal damage, water eutrophication, system components blockages and antibiotics transfers through the food chain to human; thus, effective solid wastes management is very important. The purpose of this review is to summarize the sources, characterization methods, harmfulness, removal technologies and reutilization of solids in aquaculture water, including (i) different sources of solids, such as uneaten feed, feces and debris; (ii) solids characterization based on the general parameters, particle size distribution and chemical composition; (iii) the toxicity and detriment of solids to cultured species, the environment, aquaculture system components and human health; (iv) Solids removal, effluents solids thickening and source control techniques for better solids management; and (v) various methods for the reutilization of aquacultural solid wastes for resource value‐adding. In addition to these five specific objectives, the merits and drawbacks of each method or technology and future research priorities are discussed. The present review provides an understanding of the role played by solids in aquaculture water and provides guidance for aquacultural solid wastes precision management, aquaculture practices and technological developments. Thus, solids management can be carried out based on this guidance to improve animal welfare and the stability of water treatment systems, reduce harm to the environment and public health, and enable the development of aquaculture in a sustainable way.
Effects of Supplementation Coated Lysine and Methionine in Mixture Protein Diets on Growth Performance, Digestibility and Serum Biochemical Indices of Juvenile Black Sea Bream, Acanthopagrus Schlegelii

Abstract:Four experimental diets were formulated to evaluate the effect of coated lysine (Lys) and methionine (Met) supplemented in mixture protein diets of juvenile black sea bream, Acanthopagrus schlegelii. Fish meal (FM) was the main protein source in control diet, and 21.2% FM was replaced by the mixture of soybean protein concentrate, meat and bone meal, and monosodium glutamate protein in replacement diets with coating Lys and Met were suppled at none (0%, 0%), low (1.7%, 1.1%) and high (5.0%, 3.4%) level (designated as NLM, LLM and HLM diet, respectively). Each diet was fed to triplicate groups of 20 fish (initial mean weight, 4.13 +/- 0.16 g) twice a day to apparent satiation for 8 weeks, in a flow-through system. Results showed that amino acid supplementation significantly improved weight gain and specific growth rate in these mixture protein diets groups, and the fish fed with HLM diet showed comparable growth with the control group. Feed efficiency ratio (FER), protein efficiency ratio (PER), and crude protein and Met content in dorsal muscle were significantly affected by diet amino acid level. The highest apparent digestibility coefficients appeared in HLM group but the values showed insignificant difference with the control group. Serum activities of aspertate aminotransferase and alanine aminotransferase in control group were lower than those of in other treatments. Fish fed with NLM and LLM diets had higher triglycerides concentration than those of fed the HLM and FM diets. Furthermore, the feed cost of the various feed treatments were evaluated, and the three test diets were all lower than the control diet. The present study indicated that 21.2% FM in black sea bream diet can be successfully replaced by mixture protein with sufficient coated Lys (5.0%) and Met (3.4%) supplemented.

Abstract:The rising of scale swine farm and lag of excrement and sewage disposal make the pollution of environment more and more seriously; Therefore, how to settle the problem has being a hot gambit. It is possible that improve animal's nutrient utilization efficiency and decrease excretion quantity of animal metabolic ordure through methods of nutrition. But the excretion quantity of animal ordure is still greatly overtopped endurance ability of environment. So it may be strengthened overall disposal of ordure. The article mainly reviews the recent general situation of feces and sewage treatment and reutilization on intensive scaled swine farms.

Abstract:To determine the protein digestibility of enzymatic hydrolysis feather meal in vitro and explore the effects of dietary feather meal replacement of fish meal on growth performance and protein digestibility in growing pigs.The gastrointestinal environment was simulated in vitro,protein digestive test of hydrolysis feather meal and enzymatic hydrolysis feather meal were conducted for measurement of digestibility by pepsin-trypsin hydrolysis method.A total of 135 growing pigs were randomly divided into three groups with three replicates,the control group(3 % of the Peruvian fish meal group),the test group Ⅰ and Ⅱ(50 % and 100 % feather meal replacement of Peruvian fish meal by crude protein content).The results showed that protein digestibility of enzymatic hydrolysis increased by 15.38%(P <0.05) compared with hydrolysis feather meal in vitro.In the group of 50% and 100% feather meal replacement of Peruvian fish meal,the average daily gain and average daily feed intake were not different significantly to the control group(P>0.05);feed conversion ratio and protein digestibility were also not significant to the control group(P >0.05).Combination of production performance and economic analysis,the 100% feather meal raplacement was the best.There were practicality and feasibility to practice of fish meal replacement with enzymatic hydrolysis feather meal in the production.

Abstract:Single-cell proteins are attracting growing attention as viable alternatives for fishmeal (FM) in aquatic feed. Methanotroph (Methylococcus capsulatus, Bath) bacteria meal FeedKind(R) (FK) is a type of single cell protein with high protein content (75.14%) and desirable amino acids profile, produced by Methylococcus capsulatus (Bath) living on methane consumption. The present study evaluated the potential of replacing FM with FK in the diet of black sea bream (Acanthopagrus schlegelii). Five iso-energetic and iso-nitrogenous diets were designed with FK replacing 0, 4.13, 8.27, 16.53, and 24.80% FM protein in the basal diet (40% FM content), respectively. All the diets were fed to three replicates of fish (initial weight 6.56 +/- 0.02 g) for 70 days. After the feeding trial, replacing dietary 8.27% FM protein with FK significantly improved the weight gain and specific growth rate of fish (P < 0.05), while other groups showed no significant difference in the growth performance (P > 0.05). The fish fed diets with 8.27 and 16.53% replacement levels exhibited significantly increased feeding rates. The 8.27% FK diet significantly increased the whole-body and muscle crude protein contents, apparent digestibility of crude lipid, foregut, and midgut amylase activities. The microvillus density in the midgut of fish fed the 24.80% FK diet significantly increased. The diet with 8.27% FK increased the serum triglyceride content of the fish, while the 24.80% FK diet reduced the serum triglyceride, total cholesterol, and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol contents of the fish. In conclusion, the results indicated that replacing dietary FM protein with up to 24.80% FK had no adverse effects on the growth of black sea bream, whilst replacing 8.27% FM protein with FK enhanced its growth performance and feed utilization.

Abstract:The use of microalgae as aquafeed to replace fish meal for fish/shrimp culture is a very hot topic in aquaculture industry. This work discusses the necessity and importance of use microalgae biomass and bio-products as aquafeed and introduces specific methods to produce microalgae-based aquafeed. In addition, specific effects of microalgae-based aquafeed on the growth, immune response, disease resistance, and pigmentation of aquatic animals are evaluated. Last but not the least, an in-depth discussion of the biosynthesis of high-value components, including astaxanthin, PUFAs, and phycocyanin, in algal cells is provided. Hence, this review paper covers the aspects of microalgae cultivation, high-value components induction, and biomass utilization, demonstrating the essential technologies of applying microalgae as aquafeed and the effects of microalgae-rich diet on aquatic animals. In a real-world application, the use of microalgae biomass and bio-products as aquafeed for aquaculture is challenged by some problems, such as bioaccumulation of heavy metals, poor digestibility of algal biomass, anti-nutritional factors, and high cost of biomass utilization. In this paper, potential solutions to the aforementioned problems are discussed. It is expected that in the coming future, with the improvement of technologies, microalgae biomass can be a promising alternative of fish meal in aquaculture.

Abstract:Feed management takes the key role in industrial aquaculture, and its purpose is to maximize growth, minimize feed waste, and produce a steady supply of metabolites. The feed management system is made up of feed type, feed level, feeding frequency and feed delivery approach. Feeds formulations and daily feed levels should be based on the energy requirements of the cultured aquatic. Feeding frequency and feed delivery approach can be modified to reduce waste feed, improve water quality and increase productivity.

Abstract:This paper reviews the research in nutrition and feed development in aquaculture animals in recent years, and analyzes the problem and future development of feed industry. In past 10 years, great advances have been achieved in aquaculture animal nutrient requirements, feeding, larval feed, broodstock nutrition, additives etc. But there are still some problems regarding aquafeed including high feed conversion ratio, high environmental discharge, high feed cost and unstable profit. In the near future, the research and development of aquaculture nutrition and feed should focus on “high efficiency, safety, economic and environmental neutral”. New concepts from ecology and genomics technologies should be applied in the study on molecular mechanism of nutrition and metabolism, nutrient requirements and accurate feed and feeding, feed quality control and processing, animal quality regulation, etc. The government should provide more opportunities for cooperation between scientists from different areas and long term support.

Abstract:Methionine hydroxy analogue (MHA) has been widely used and shows positive effects on growth in poultry, swine, ruminant and aquatic animals. Nevertheless, the utilization efficiency of methionine hydroxy analogue remains controversial considering the wide variation in effects across studies, feeding parameters and environmental culture conditions. Meta‐analysis can quantify the effect of adding MHA on animal performance. Here, we analysed the effect of MHA‐supplemented diets on the final weight (FW), per cent weight gain (WG), protein efficiency ratio (PER), feed conversion ratio (FCR) and feed efficiency (FE) in common, diverse aquaculture taxa. To conduct the meta‐analyses, twenty‐three published studies were included that accounted for 249 effect sizes estimated across eight fish and one shrimp species. The effect size (measured as the standardized mean difference; Hedges' g) of response parameters between MHA level in a diet formulation and an MHA‐less control condition was calculated. Based on these results, adding MHA in the diet can significantly improve FW, WG, PER, and FE and decrease FCR for fish rather than shrimp. Using meta‐regression analysis, there was a significant quadratic linear relationship between MHA addition and effect size for FW (P = 0.002 for MHA, P = 0.042 for MHA2), and significant linear relationships between MHA addition and effect size for WG (P = 0.0005) and FCR (P = 0.002). There was no significant relationship, linear or non‐linear, between the MHA addition and effect size for FE (P = 0.985) and PER (P = 0.461). In all, when properly dosed in diets, MHA can significantly improve aquaculture production for fish.
