Abstract:In this paper, a notion of negative side ϱ-mixing (ϱ −-mixing) which can be regarded as asymptotic negative association is defined, and some Rosenthal type inequalities for ϱ −-mixing random fields are established. The complete convergence and almost sure summability on the convergence rates with respect to the strong law of large numbers are also discussed for ϱ −-mixing random fields. The results obtained extend those for negatively associated sequences and ϱ * random fields.

Abstract:The exponential inequality of the maximum partial sums is a key to establish the law of the iterated logarithm of negatively associated random variables. In the one-indexed random sequence case, such inequalities for negatively associated random variables are established by Shao (2000) by using his comparison theorem between negatively associated and independent random variables. In the multi-indexed random field case, the comparison theorem fails. The purpose of this paper is to establish the Kolmogorov exponential inequality as well a moment inequality of the maximum partial sums of a negatively associated random field via a different method. By using these inequalities, the sufficient and necessary condition for the law of the iterated logarithm of a negatively associated random field to hold is obtained.

Abstract:Let X k ; k ∈ N d be a random field which is asymptotically negative dependent in a certain sense. Define the partial sum process in the usual way so that $W_n \left( t \right) = \sigma _n^{{\text{ - 1}}} \sum\nolimits_{m \leqq n \cdot t} {\left( {X_m - EX_m } \right)} \quad {\text{for}}\quad t \in \left[ {0,1} \right]^d$, where $\sigma _n^{\text{2}} = {\text{Var}}\left( {\sum\nolimits_{m \leqq n} {X_m } } \right)$. Under some suitable conditions, we show that W n (·) converges in distribution to a Brownian sheet. Direct consequences of the result are functional central limit theorems for negative dependent random fields. The result is based on some general theorems concerning asymptotically negative dependent random fields, which are of independent interest.

Abstract:In this paper we obtain weak laws of large numbers (WLLNs) for arrays of random variables under the uniform Cesàro-type condition. As corollary, we obtain the result of Hong and Oh [Hong, D. H., Oh, K. S., 1995. On the weak law of large numbers for arrays. Statist. Probab. Lett. 22, 55–57]. Furthermore, we obtain a WLLN for an Lp-mixingale array without the conditions that the mixingale is uniformly integrable and the Lp-mixingale numbers decay to zero at a special rate.

Abstract:Let $\{X_i,i\geq1\}$ be a sequence of negatively associated random variables, and let $\{X_i^\ast,i\geq 1\}$ be a sequence of independent random variables such that $X_i^\ast$ and $X_i$ have the same distribution for each $i$. Denote by $S_k=\sum_{i=1}^{k}X_i$ and $S_k^\ast=\sum_{i=1}^{k}X_i^\ast$ for $k\geq 1$. The well-known results of Shao \cite{Shao2000} sates that $\mathbb{E}f(S_n)\leq \mathbb{E}f(S_n^\ast)$ for any nondecreasing convex function. Abstract:Limit theorems for non-additive probabilities or non-linear expectations are challenging issues which have attracted a lot of interest recently. The purpose of this paper is to study the strong law of large numbers and the law of the iterated logarithm for a sequence of random variables in a sub-linear expectation space under a concept of extended independence which is much weaker and easier to verify than the independence proposed by Peng [20]. We introduce a concept of extended negative dependence which is an extension of the kind of weak independence and the extended negative independence relative to classical probability that has appeared in the recent literature. Powerful tools such as moment inequality and Kolmogorov's exponential inequality are established for these kinds of extended negatively independent random variables, and these tools improve a lot upon those of Chen, Chen and Ng [1]. The strong law of large numbers and the law of iterated logarithm are also obtained by applying these inequalities.

Abstract:This article mainly studies the strong convergence properties for randomly weighted maximum partial sums of arrays of row-wise extended negatively dependent (END, for short) random variables, including the complete moment convergence and complete f -moment convergence. The results obtained in this paper extend the corresponding ones in the literature. As an application, we investigate the complete consistency of the estimators of nonparametric regression models based on END random errors by using the complete convergence that we established. Then we provide comprehensive simulation studies to demonstrate the validity of the theoretical results based on the finite sample performance. Finally, an application to a real data set is illustrated.

Abstract:We consider a class of dependent random variables where the dependence structure involves a factor driven by Sn/n. Under very mild conditions for the innovation, we obtain several asymptotic results for the partial sums including basic asymptotics and strong limit theorems. The fact that the asymptotic properties differ strikingly in a neighbour of a critical point makes the model very interesting.

Abstract:Let {Zn,n≥1} be a sequence of independent nonnegative r.v.’s (random variables) with finite second moments. It is shown that under a Lindeberg-type condition, the αth inverse moment E{a+Xn}−α can be asymptotically approximated by the inverse of the αth moment {a+EXn}−α where a>0,α>0, and {Xn} are the naturally-scaled partial sums. Furthermore, it is shown that, when {Zn} only possess finite rth moments, 1≤r<2, the preceding asymptotic approximation can still be valid by using different norming constants which are the standard deviations of partial sums of suitably truncated {Zn}.
