Abstract:In this paper we obtain weak laws of large numbers (WLLNs) for arrays of random variables under the uniform Cesàro-type condition. As corollary, we obtain the result of Hong and Oh [Hong, D. H., Oh, K. S., 1995. On the weak law of large numbers for arrays. Statist. Probab. Lett. 22, 55–57]. Furthermore, we obtain a WLLN for an Lp-mixingale array without the conditions that the mixingale is uniformly integrable and the Lp-mixingale numbers decay to zero at a special rate.

Abstract:For the sequence of ρ˜-mixing identically distributed random variables, we show two general strong laws of large numbers (SLLNs) in which the coefficient of sum and the weight are both general functions, and as a consequence we obtain the Marcinkiewicz SLLN. Abstract:Limit theorems for non-additive probabilities or non-linear expectations are challenging issues which have attracted a lot of interest recently. The purpose of this paper is to study the strong law of large numbers and the law of the iterated logarithm for a sequence of random variables in a sub-linear expectation space under a concept of extended independence which is much weaker and easier to verify than the independence proposed by Peng [20]. We introduce a concept of extended negative dependence which is an extension of the kind of weak independence and the extended negative independence relative to classical probability that has appeared in the recent literature. Powerful tools such as moment inequality and Kolmogorov's exponential inequality are established for these kinds of extended negatively independent random variables, and these tools improve a lot upon those of Chen, Chen and Ng [1]. The strong law of large numbers and the law of iterated logarithm are also obtained by applying these inequalities.

Abstract:Under the framework of sub-linear expectation initiated by Peng, motivated by the concept of extended negative dependence, we establish a law of logarithm for arrays of row-wise extended negatively dependent random variables under weak conditions. Besides, the law of logarithm for independent and identically distributed arrays is derived more precisely and the sufficient and necessary conditions for the law of logarithm are obtained.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the law of large numbers for strictly stationary random fields, that is, we provide sufficient conditions on the moments and the dependence of the random field in order to guarantee the almost sure convergence to $0$ and the convergence in $\mathbb L^p$ of partials sums over squares or rectangles of $\mathbb Z^d$. Approximation by multi-indexed martingales as well as by $m$-dependent random fields are investigated. Applications to functions of $d$-independent Bernoulli shifts and to functionals of i.i.d.\ random fields are also provided.

Abstract:Classical Kolmogorov's and Rosenthal's inequalities for the maximum partial sums of random variables are basic tools for studying the strong laws of large numbers. In this paper, motived by the notion of independent and identically distributed random variables under the sub-linear expectation initiated by Peng (2008), we introduce the concept of negative dependence of random variables and establish Kolmogorov's and Rosenthal's inequalities for the maximum partial sums of negatively dependent random variables under the sub-linear expectations. As an application, we show that Kolmogorov's strong law of larger numbers holds for independent and identically distributed random variables under a continuous sub-linear expectation if and only if the corresponding Choquet integral is finite.

Abstract:In this study, the strong law of large numbers and the convergence rate for weighted sums of non-identically distributed widely orthant dependent random variables are established. As applications, the strong consistency for weighted estimator in nonparametric regression model and the rate of strong consistency for least-squares estimator in multiple linear regression model are obtained. Some numerical simulations are also provided to verify the validity of the theoretical results.

Abstract:This paper considers a sequence of Bernoulli random variables which are dependent in a way that the success probability of a trial conditional on the previous trials depends on the total number of successes achieved prior to the trial. The paper investigates almost sure behaviors for the sequence and proves the strong law of large numbers under weak conditions. For linear probability functions, the paper also obtains the strong law of large numbers, the central limit theorems and the law of the iterated logarithm, extending the results by James et al.
