Abstract:The exponential inequality of the maximum partial sums is a key to establish the law of the iterated logarithm of negatively associated random variables. In the one-indexed random sequence case, such inequalities for negatively associated random variables are established by Shao (2000) by using his comparison theorem between negatively associated and independent random variables. In the multi-indexed random field case, the comparison theorem fails. The purpose of this paper is to establish the Kolmogorov exponential inequality as well a moment inequality of the maximum partial sums of a negatively associated random field via a different method. By using these inequalities, the sufficient and necessary condition for the law of the iterated logarithm of a negatively associated random field to hold is obtained.

Abstract: We establish the Strassen's law of the iterated logarithm for independent and identically distributed random variables with $\hat{\mathbb{E}}[X_1]=\hat{\mathcal{E}}[X_1]=0$ and $C_{\mathbb{V}}[X_1^2]<\infty$ under sub-linear expectation space with a countably sub-additive capacity $\mathbb{V}$. We also show the LIL for upper capacity with $\sigma=\bar{\sigma}$ under some certain conditions.

Under some suitable conditions, a nonclassical law of the iterated logarithm is investigated, i.e. lim sup_n→∞∑_i=1^n[f(X_i)-E f(X_i)]/√(2nb(n))=σ_f a.s., where ( f ) is a real function and σ_f^2=Var(f(X_1))+2∑_j=2^∞Cov(f(X_1), f(X_j)) .

Abstract:Recently, Fulman developed some general connections between martingales and character ratios of a random representation of the symmetric group on transitions, and obtained a convergence rate in a central limit theorem. In this work we aim to establish the law of the iterated logarithm for character ratios. The technique is a well-known Skorokhod embedding theorem for martingales and strong approximation argument. Also, bounded martingale difference methods are used to obtain a large deviation for character ratios.

Abstract:Under the framework of sub-linear expectation initiated by Peng, motivated by the concept of extended negative dependence, we establish a law of logarithm for arrays of row-wise extended negatively dependent random variables under weak conditions. Besides, the law of logarithm for independent and identically distributed arrays is derived more precisely and the sufficient and necessary conditions for the law of logarithm are obtained.

Abstract:SHAO and SU proved that the law of the iterated logarithm holds for a stationary negatively associated sequence of random variables with finite variance. The proof was based on a Rosenthal type maximal inequality, a Kolmogorov type exponential inequality and Stein's method. By using truncation method, a law is established of the iterated logarithm for nonstationary negatively associated random fields with EX1=0 and E|X1|2+τ∞(for some τ0).

We study the precise rates of a kind of weighted infinite series of P{Mn≥εσnlogn} and P{|Sn|≥εσnlogn} as ε↘0, and P{Mn≤εσπ2n8logn} as ε↗∞. The results are related to the convergence rates of the law of the logarithm and the Chung type law of the logarithm.

Abstract:Consider the positive d-dimensional lattice ℤ + d (d≥2) with partial ordering ≤, let {X K ; K ε ℤ + d } be i.i.d. random variables taking values in a real separable Hilbert space (H, ‖·‖) with mean zero and covariance operator Σ, and set partial sums S N =ΣK≤NX K , K, N ε ℤ + d . Under some moment conditions, we obtain the precise asymptoties of a kind of weighted infinite series for partial sums S N as ɛ ↘0 by using the truncation and approximation methods. The results are related to the convergence rates of the law of the logarithm in Hilbert space, and they also extend the results of (Gut and Spǎtaru, 2003).

Abstract:Limit theorems for non-additive probabilities or non-linear expectations are challenging issues which have attracted a lot of interest recently. The purpose of this paper is to study the strong law of large numbers and the law of the iterated logarithm for a sequence of random variables in a sub-linear expectation space under a concept of extended independence which is much weaker and easier to verify than the independence proposed by Peng [20]. We introduce a concept of extended negative dependence which is an extension of the kind of weak independence and the extended negative independence relative to classical probability that has appeared in the recent literature. Powerful tools such as moment inequality and Kolmogorov's exponential inequality are established for these kinds of extended negatively independent random variables, and these tools improve a lot upon those of Chen, Chen and Ng [1]. The strong law of large numbers and the law of iterated logarithm are also obtained by applying these inequalities.

We consider the moments of maxn≥1|Sn|/2nloglogn. The sufficient and necessary conditions for the moments to be finite are given.
