Abstract:It will be shown that two strong laws of large numbers,which were proved for arrays of i.i.d.random variables by BAI,CHENG(2000) and SUNG(2001),can be also obtained for arrays of negative dependent(ND) random variables.The proof is somewhat simplified.

For convergence ofSn in probability and with probability one, in [2],[3] etc., the following stronger condition is required: {Xn} is uniformly bounded by a random variableX,i.e.P(¦Xn¦⩾x)⩽P(¦X¦⩾x) for allx>0. Our paper aims at trying to drop this restriction.

Chen, Zhu and Fang's (1996) results on real-valued i.i.d. random variables are extended and generalized, and their unsolved problem is answered. Abstract:In this paper we obtain weak laws of large numbers (WLLNs) for arrays of random variables under the uniform Cesàro-type condition. As corollary, we obtain the result of Hong and Oh [Hong, D. H., Oh, K. S., 1995. On the weak law of large numbers for arrays. Statist. Probab. Lett. 22, 55–57]. Furthermore, we obtain a WLLN for an Lp-mixingale array without the conditions that the mixingale is uniformly integrable and the Lp-mixingale numbers decay to zero at a special rate.

Abstract:In this paper, we establish strong laws for weighted sums of identically distributed negatively associated random variables. Marcinkiewicz-Zygmund’s strong law of large numbers is extended to weighted sums of negatively associated random variables. Furthermore, we investigate various limit properties of Cesàro’s and Riesz’s sums of negatively associated random variables. Some of the results in the i.i.d. setting, such as those in Jajte (Ann. Probab. 31(1), 409–412, 2003), Bai and Cheng (Stat. Probab. Lett. 46, 105–112, 2000), Li et al. (J. Theor. Probab. 8, 49–76, 1995) and Gut (Probab. Theory Relat. Fields 97, 169–178, 1993) are also improved and extended to the negatively associated setting.

Abstract:Let {X-n, n >= 1} be a sequence of negatively superadditive dependent random variables. In the paper, we study the strong law of large numbers for general weighted sums 1/g(n) Sigma(n)(i=1) X-i/h(i) of negatively sui peradditive dependent random variables with non-identical distribution. Some sufficient conditions for the strong law of large numbers are provided. As applications, the Kolmogorov strong law of large numbers and Marcinkiewicz-Zygmund strong law of large numbers for negatively superadditive dependent random variables are obtained. Our results generalize the corresponding ones for independent random variables and negatively associated random variables.

Abstract:In the paper, the strong convergence properties for two different weighted sums of negatively orthant dependent (NOD) random variables are investigated. Let {X n , n ≥ 1} be a sequence of NOD random variables. The results obtained in the paper generalize the corresponding ones for i.i.d. random variables and identically distributed NA random variables to the case of NOD random variables, which are stochastically dominated by a random variable X. As a byproduct, the Marcinkiewicz-Zygmund type strong law of large numbers for NOD random variables is also obtained.

Abstract:In this study, the strong law of large numbers and the convergence rate for weighted sums of non-identically distributed widely orthant dependent random variables are established. As applications, the strong consistency for weighted estimator in nonparametric regression model and the rate of strong consistency for least-squares estimator in multiple linear regression model are obtained. Some numerical simulations are also provided to verify the validity of the theoretical results.

Abstract:Limit theorems for non-additive probabilities or non-linear expectations are challenging issues which have attracted a lot of interest recently. The purpose of this paper is to study the strong law of large numbers and the law of the iterated logarithm for a sequence of random variables in a sub-linear expectation space under a concept of extended independence which is much weaker and easier to verify than the independence proposed by Peng [20]. We introduce a concept of extended negative dependence which is an extension of the kind of weak independence and the extended negative independence relative to classical probability that has appeared in the recent literature. Powerful tools such as moment inequality and Kolmogorov's exponential inequality are established for these kinds of extended negatively independent random variables, and these tools improve a lot upon those of Chen, Chen and Ng [1]. The strong law of large numbers and the law of iterated logarithm are also obtained by applying these inequalities.

Let {a(n), n >= 1} and {b(n), n >= 1} be sequences of real numbers with 0 < b(n) up arrow infinity. Sufficient conditions are given under which Sigma(n)(i=1) a(i)X(i),/b(n) -> 0 almost surely. No conditions are imposed on the joint distributions of the {X-n}. Our results generalize and improve some known results of the strong law of large numbers for random variables.
