Abstract:The paper gives some theorems about the increments of partial sums of independent, but not necessarily independent identically distributed random variables. The main results are ideal and corresponding to those for i. i. d. random variables. Therefore these sharp results of Hanson and Russo (1983) answer some of their questions.

Abstract:> The a. s. limiting behavior of increments of partial sums for a sequence of random variables has been discussed by many authors. A series of fine and elegant results have been obtained. However, up to now, the results of this kind have all required the existence of moments. In this paper we try to drop this condition. The existing results with moment conditions become special cases of our theorems.

Abstract:We establish strong invariance principles for sums of stationary ρ-mixing random variables with finite and infinite second moments under weaker mixing rates.Some earlier results are improved.As applications,some results of the law of the iterated logarithm with finite and infinite variance are obtained,also a conjecture raised by Shao in 1993 is solved.

Abstract:In the paper, we give the almost sure limiting behaviour of the increments of partial sums of aϕ-mixing sequence when the moment generating functions do not exist. The results obtained are close to those for an independent sequence provided that the mixing coefficients tend to zero rapidly enough.

Abstract:In this paper, we discuss the lower bound for the variance of partial sums of strong near-epoch dependent variables under quite weak conditions. By suitably applying this result, we derive the limit behavior of the variance of the partial sums, which is especially useful in studying the large sample properties for econometric time series models with strong near-epoch dependent innovations.

Abstract:Abstract We give here an almost sure central limit theorem for self-normalized partial sums of a strictly stationary φ-mixing sequences which is in the domain of attraction of the normal law with mean zero and possibly infinite variance. Our result substantially extend a result on the almost sure central limit theorem previously obtained by Huang and Pang (2010).

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the random sums of one type of asymptotically quadrant sub-independent and identically distributed random variables {X, X i , i = 1, 2, ⋯ } with consistently varying tails. We obtain the asymptotic behavior of the tail $\textsf{P}(X_1+\cdots+X_\eta>x)$ under different cases of the interrelationships between the tails of X and η, where η is an integer-valued random variable independent of {X, X i , i = 1, 2, ⋯ }. We find out that the asymptotic behavior of $\textsf{P}(X_1+\cdots+X_\eta>x)$ is insensitive to the dependence assumed in the present paper. We state some applications of the asymptotic results to ruin probabilities in the compound renewal risk model under dependent risks. We also state some applications to a compound collective risk model under the Markov environment.

Let S n = X 1+⋯+X n and ${}^{{{\left( r \right)}}}S_{n} = S_{n} - {\left( {X^{{{\left( 1 \right)}}}_{n} + \cdots + X^{{{\left( r \right)}}}_{n} } \right)}.$Sufficient and necessary conditions for (r) S n approximating to sums of independent normal random variables are obtained. Via approximation results, the convergence rates of the strong law of large numbers for (r) S n are studied.

Abstract:Let {Xn;n ≥ 1} be a sequence of independent random variables on a probability space (Ω,F,P) and $${S_n} = \sum\nolimits_{k = 1}^n {{X_k}} $$. It is well-known that the almost sure convergence, the convergence in probability and the convergence in distribution of Sn are equivalent. In this paper, we prove similar results for the independent random variables under the sub-linear expectations, and give a group of sufficient and necessary conditions for these convergence. For proving the results, the Levy and Kolmogorov maximal inequalities for independent random variables under the sub-linear expectation are established. As an application of the maximal inequalities, the sufficient and necessary conditions for the central limit theorem of independent and identically distributed random variables are also obtained.

Abstract:We consider a class of dependent random variables where the dependence structure involves a factor driven by Sn/n. Under very mild conditions for the innovation, we obtain several asymptotic results for the partial sums including basic asymptotics and strong limit theorems. The fact that the asymptotic properties differ strikingly in a neighbour of a critical point makes the model very interesting.
