Abstract:A method for designing a high dynamic fiber optic gyroscope (FOG) is presented for a class of high spinning carrier with demand of accuracy and range.It is fulfilled by identification of fringes to detect phase error beyond[-π,+ π] with the dynamic range over 40 000 (°)/s,which provides a new simple,effective and high reliability scheme for light of sight (LOS) stabilization and attitude control of navigation systems.

Abstract:For the trends of vibratory gyroscope's high-performance and miniaturization,a fully symmetric vibratory gyroscope was developed.According to the working principle,using the way of piezoelectric driving and detecting,the total structure design of this gyroscope was established.The number of piezoelectric patches,the structural parameters of the spoke,and the central post had effect on inherent frequency of vibratory gyroscope,and the effect was analyzed by FEM simulation.Then optimized structural pa-rameters ( spoke size:9 mm ×2 mm ×0.5 mm;central post size:4 mm ×4 mm ×10 mm) were obtained.The prototype was fabrica-ted and tested.The results show that structural parameter has vital effect on inherent frequency.The inherent frequency regularly changes with the number of piezoelectric patches,the length,width and thickness of the spoke,and the height of the central post. And it shows the validity of the working principle and the design.This fully symmetric vibratory has a promising prospect.The re-search provides a basis for structure design and optimization of solid vibratory gyroscope.

Abstract:Based on the principle of equilibrium of nodal forces, and using the sub structure method as a numerical analysis tool, a new type of configuration analysis method for membrane, cable membrane is presented in detail in this paper. Using this method, the corresponding equation was educed, and analysis program was developed. Through the classic example (typical catenoid), the convergence and accuracy of the method was proved. This configuration analysis method have the merits of quick convergency and low memory requirement. Through the engineering example, by use of the method of self stress verification, and applying ANSYS as analytical implementation, the result of configuration analysis was verified.

Abstract:In the new fiber carding machine,the roller is a key component which determines the success or failure of the equipment.By analyzing the roller′s supporting form,structure characteristic,motion law,the sinusoidal in the axial stress and torsional loads are simplified to constant axial compression and torsional loads,and the mechanical model of the roller is obtained.The deflection and internal stress formulas are derived and studied using non-moment theory of cylindrical shells,and the minimum thickness under constraint of deflection,stability and strength is obtained,and the conclusion of the reinforcement is not necessary is indicated.The practices indicate that the analysis is correct and efficient,and it has reference significance for similar component design.

Abstract:This study investigated the effects of structural dimension variation arising from fabrication imperfections or active structural design on the vibration characteristics of a (100) single crystal silicon (SCS) ring-based Coriolis vibratory gyroscope. A mathematical model considering the geometrical irregularities and the anisotropy of Young's modulus was developed via Lagrange's equations for simulating the dynamical behavior of an imperfect ring-based gyroscope. The dynamical analyses are focused on the effects on the frequency split between two vibration modes of interest as well as the rotation of the principal axis of the 2 theta mode pair, leading to modal coupling and the degradation of gyroscopic sensitivity. While both anisotropic Young's modulus and nonideal deep trench verticality affect the frequency difference between two vibration modes, they have little contribution to deflecting the principal axis of the 2 theta mode pair. However, the 4 theta variations in the width of both the ring and the supporting beams cause modal coupling to occur and the degenerate 2 theta mode pair to split in frequency. To aid the optimal design of MEMS ring-based gyroscopic sensors that has relatively high robustness to fabrication tolerance, a geometrical compensation based on the developed model is demonstrated to identify the geometries of the ring and the suspension.
Optimize and analysis of fiber optic gyroscope combination bracket based on redundancy design

Abstract:In view of the domestic research status of fiber optic gyroscope, a new combination of fiber optic gyroscopes bracket was designed based on the redundancy design scheme in order to meet the requirements of inertial navigation system which used the high accuracy and high reliability fiber optic gyroscopes. The Ansys finite element software was used to analyze the dynamics characteristic of the bracket. And the bracket was optimized based on the result of the modal analysis and frequency response analysis. After optimizing the bracket lighted 43%, and avoided resonance in the work frequency band of 0-2000 Hz, the acceleration response amplitude reduced significantly, and the response of deformation were less than 10 -7, which could improve the dynamic characteristics of the bracket and laid a good foundation for raising the accuracy and reliability of inertial navigation system.

Abstract:Static analysis and modal analysis on the structure of telescope main rotary frame was achieved by means of finite element method.A simplification of model has been carried out by the use of methods of establishing rigidity zone and coordinates transformation.The establishment of structural model based on finite elemenu analysis and its process of simplification treatment were expounded.The static and modality analytical computation have been achieved by the use of ANSYS software.By means of the result of analysis,references and suggestions were provided for engineering practice and a kind of new train of thought was provided for the analysis of main rotary frame.

Abstract:A resonator fiber optic gyro is an inertial rotation sensor whose rotation rate can be obtained by measuring the difference of resonant frequency between the lightwaves propagating clockwise and counterclockwise. As the analogue modulation (can't) achieve high performance, a digital modulation is proposed, in which the digital serrodyne signal with two frequencies is used to control the LiNbO_(3) modulator. Performance of this system is analyzed theoretically, and the simulating results are given which shows that the proposed technique is feasible.

Abstract:Employing unique advantage of giant magnetostrictive strain of giant magnetostrictive material (GMM) for improving reference vibration amplitude, a novel bulk GMM solid MEMS gyroscope, which has small and simple structure and is capable of detecting 2-axis angular rate with improved sensitivity, is proposed. The device structure and operation principle of the gyroscope are presented. Using finite element method (FEM), modal analyses, for whole solid GMM cube and for bulk GMM cube composed of multilayer GMM plates, are conducted. The results show that the fourth order vibration mode for the former and the first order vibration mode with lower frequency of dozens of KHz for the latter were found to meet the working vibratory mode of the gyro sensor. This work of the paper provides theory foundation for structural optimization design and fabrication of the microgyroscope.

Abstract:With the study of a certain servo gear transmission system, a three-dimensional parametric design of servo drive system is made based on SolidWorks and its plug-in GearTrax. The model is introduced into ANSYS through a special interface, and the finite element modal solutionsare obtained. Aiming at solving the practical problem that the static linear modal analysis methods fail to meet the working conditions of high speed rotation and frequent variable speeds, this paper proposes an effective way of determining the range of the system natural frequency through figuring out the natural frequencies in two critical states. Thus, it provides an important basis for the credible design of the servo drive system and a reliable theoretical guidance and reference data for its design, use and maintenance.

Abstract:We are presenting the design and the preliminary numerical and experimental analyses of two mismatched Coriolis vibratory gyroscopes incorporating nonlinear modal interaction. A novel double-H design includes two clamped-clamped beams and a suspended mass in the middle connected to the base beams via four short cantilevers. Another design is a T-shaped gyro including a primary doubly-clamped beam and a secondary sense beam. A combination of analytical, finite element, and experimental analyses are employed to study the characteristics of the nonlinear gyro. The drive mode matches the structure's second mode, while the sense mode matches the fundamental mode of the structure. Our preliminary study indicates that the bandwidth and the sensitivity of the rotation rate sensor are improved by employing the nonlinear modal interaction.

Abstract:Modal analysis is commonly considered as an effective tool to obtain the intrinsic characteristics of structures including natural frequencies, modal damping ratios, and mode shapes, which are significant indicators for monitoring the health status of engineering structures. The complex mode indicator function (CMIF) can be regarded as an effective numerical tool to perform modal analysis. In this paper, experimental strain modal analysis based on the CMIF has been introduced. Moreover, a distributed fiber-optic sensor, as a dense measuring device, has been applied to acquire strain data along a beam surface. Thanks to the dense spatial resolution of the distributed fiber optics, more detailed mode shapes could be obtained. In order to test the effectiveness of the method, a mass lump—considered as a linear damage component—has been attached to the surface of the beam, and damage detection based on strain mode shape has been carried out. The results manifest that strain modal parameters can be estimated effectively by utilizing the CMIF based on the corresponding simulations and experiments. Furthermore, damage detection based on strain mode shapes benefits from the accuracy of strain mode shape recognition and the excellent performance of the distributed fiber optics.

Abstract:Fiber placement is one of the most popular processing techniques in fabricating composites in aviation and aerospace industries, due to its capability of placing prepregs or tapes precisely in the exact position when manufacturing complex parts. This paper presents a motion simulation framework for fiber placement, which is critical in validating the fiber placement path and preventing the possible collision and damage among machine, mandrel and operator. The linkage coordinate system was established according to the physical characteristics of a fiber placement machine. The coordinate information of multi-axes which move coordinately to implement the fiber placement path designed in the CAD system, was achieved by an algorithm which decouples the spindle and manipulator. Moreover, three criteria were proposed to check the feasibility of fiber paths and coordinated motion of multi-axes. Finally, the correctness and feasibility of proposed algorithms and fiber placement paths were verified by fiber placement simulation of an airplane inlet.
Global Structural Optimization of 3D Models Based on Modal Analysis

Abstract:Traditional structural optimization methods require predefined load conditions. The resulting structure is optimal under the given condition, but can be weak under different loads. Objects can suffer from various forc-es in practical applications. The overall performance of objects cannot be guaranteed and thus more material than actually needed is used. In this work we propose a novel approach to enhance the global strength of 3D objects under all possible load distribution, which make the strength of the object isotropic to resist different forces. The method is based on modal analysis. We first detect the weak region of the object and then reinforce it by optimiz-ing the eigenvalue of the stiffness matrix. Based on the concept of Rayleigh Quotient, an efficient algorithm is also presented. Experiments show that our method can effectively improve the global strength of 3D objects.

Structural Error Simulation Analysis Of Lamost Fiber Units

Abstract:AMOST requires fast and accurate alignment of 4000 optical fiber units on a 1.75m-diameter convex focal plane to simultaneously observe 4000 targets, and the positioning accuracy of the unit is very demanding. But in fact there are a variety of factors such as motor motion error, machining error, assembly error, etc. which may lead to great positioning error. Moreover gear meshing transmission at the eccentric shaft and the anti-backlash spring may also cause greater positioning accuracy error. Besides, the inevitable gap between the center shaft and the bearing leads to motion error of the rotation mechanism, which also affects the precise positioning of the optical fiber. Therefore, in this paper, model and simulate the eccentric shaft basing on virtual prototype ADAMS set parameters and change the axial restraint of the gear, then obtain the axial movement curve. Design 9 groups of comparative tests through orthogonal experimental design. The results in case that: (1) The maximal movement of the gear at the eccentric shaft is within the allowable range, and has little effect on the unit positioning accuracy; (2) The overall error of the unit shaft clearance is in the range of -0.06deg/s -0.2deg/s, which leads to low positioning accuracy that may not meet the observation requirement. This research provides a theoretical basis for the design of a new generation high-precision positioning unit in the future.

Abstract:Three-dimensional woven fabrics feature complex meso-architectures, such as yarn torsion and cross-section variation. This paper aims to developing a novel numerical modeling method to simulate the mechanical behaviors of reinforcements considering realistic yarn geometries. The initial as-woven unit cell is first simulated by the digital element analysis. A reconstruction algorithm is then used to generate mesoscale high-fidelity solid geometric models from digital chains. Fiber directional orientation within torsional yarns of the high-fidelity model is described by a digital-chain tracing method and analyzed in detail. Furthermore, based on the high-fidelity model, a hyper-elastic constitutive model is employed for the numerical analysis of the mechanical properties of reinforcements. The finite element analysis (FEA) of transverse compression, tensile deformation and in-plane shearing deformation combined with in-situ Micro-CT experiments are carried out to verify the method. The proposed method agrees well with experimental tests. Defining fiber orientations of torsional yarns using the digital-chain tracing method leads to more accurate simulation results. The developed numerical method can be extended for the composites design and structure optimization due to its high-fidelity simulation capabilities.

Abstract:This article is to provide a method to make the structure of machine tools lightened and improve its anti-vibration capacity. Modal analysis with pre-stress of High-speed Turning Center's spindle box was performed using ANSYS Workbench; based on the above results, we optimized the spindle box using topological optimization and dimensional optimization methods. Finally, we make the spindle box's weight reduce by 4.44%, its first order frequency increase by 15.82%, its first mode maximum amplitude decrease by 9.18%.
