Abstract:In this paper, we give discreteness criteria of subgroups of the special linear group on ℚ p or ℂ p in two and higher dimensions. Jørgensen’s inequality gives a necessary condition for a non-elementary group of Möbius transformations to be discrete. We give a version of Jørgensen’s inequality for SL( m ,ℂ p ).

Abstract:An ortho-lc-monoid is a generalized orthogroup within the class of rpp semigroups. In this article, after giving some important properties of r-ample semigroups and super-r-ample semigroups, some structure theorems of ortho-lc-monoids are established, and several special cases are considered. The main techniques that we use in the study are the (*, similar to)-Green's relations and semispined product of semigroups.

Abstract:We study a class of special strongly rpp semigroups, namely, the class of super rpp semigroups. These super rpp semigroups are generalizations of both superabundant semigroups and Clifford semigroups within the class of rpp semigroups. In particular, we prove that a super rpp semigroup is a semilattice of D (l)-simple strongly rpp semigroups. Our result not only generalizes a well-known theorem of Clifford in the class of completely regular semigroups but also strengthens some structure theorems obtained by Ren-Shum for superabundant semigroups which are orthodox. Some special super rpp semigroups are considered and discussed.
Green's Relations in Finite Transformation Semigroups

Abstract:We consider the complexity of Green's relations when the semigroup is given by transformations on a finite set. Green's relations can be defined by reachability in the (right/left/two-sided) Cayley graph. The equivalence classes then correspond to the strongly connected components. It is not difficult to show that, in the worst case, the number of equivalence classes is in the same order of magnitude as the number of elements. Another important parameter is the maximal length of a chain of components. Our main contribution is an exponential lower bound for this parameter. There is a simple construction for an arbitrary set of generators. However, the proof for constant alphabet is rather involved. Our results also apply to automata and their syntactic semigroups.

Abstract:Following our previous work [18], we introduce the notions of partial seed homomorphisms and partial ideal rooted cluster morphisms. Related to the theory of Green's equivalences, the isomorphism classes of sub-rooted cluster algebras of a rooted cluster algebra are corresponded one-by-one to the regular $\mathcal D$-classes of the semigroup consisting of partial seed endomorphisms of the initial seed. Moreover, for a rooted cluster algebra from a Riemannian surface, they are also corresponded to the isomorphism classes of the so-called paunched surfaces.

Abstract:The first part of the article is a survey on the relation between cluster theory and Green's equivalences in semigroup theory. Precisely, we will discuss the isomorphism classes of sub-rooted cluster algebras of a rooted cluster algebra corresponding one-by-one to the regular D-classes of the semigroup consisting of partial seed endomorphisms of the initial seed. In the second part of the article, we will study a rooted cluster algebra from a Riemann surface, also we consider sub-rooted cluster algebras corresponding to the isomorphism classes of the so-called paunched surfaces. Finally, we state our observation for rooted cluster algebras from orbifolds and give a conjectural description for them analogous to those results from the surfaces.

Abstract:A semigroup S is called rpp if all right principal ideals of S, regarded as S 1-systems, are projective. An rpp semigroup S is said to be strongly rpp if for any a ∈ S, there exists a unique idempotent e such that eL*a and a = ea. In this paper, we show that a D(ℓ)-simple strongly rpp semigroup can be expressed by a Rees matrix semigroup over a left cancellative monoid and conversely. Our result generalizes the classical theorem of Rees in 1940 and also amplifies the Rees theorem in semigroup given by Lallement and Petrich in 1969. © 2008 World Scientific Publishing Company.

Abstract:It is well-known that, for a finite quiver Γ and its path algebra k Γo ver a field k, the linear-representation category Lin-RepΓ is equivalent to the kΓ-module category kΓ-Mod . The purpose of this paper is to generalize the conclusion to the so- called set-representation category Set-RepΓ and its equivalent category P (Γ)-SET � . The authors firstly introduce the definition of the set-representation category Set- RepΓ and find out its equivalent category P (Γ)-SET � . Secondly, through a finite connected quiver Γ on which all objects of P (Γ)-SETare (positively) graded, they find some interesting relations between the two categories kΓ-Mod and P (Γ)-SET � (see Corollary 3.8 and Corollary 3.9 ), although one of them is abelian while the other is not. Abstract:Let $[n]=\{1,2,\ldots,n\}$ be a finite chain and let $\mathcal{P}_{n}$ be the semigroup of partial transformations on $[n]$. Let $\mathcal{CP}_{n}=\{\alpha\in \mathcal{P}_{n}: (for~all ~x,y\in Dom~\alpha)~|x\alpha-y\alpha|\leq|x-y|\}$, then $\mathcal{CP}_{n}$ is a subsemigroup of $\mathcal{P}_{n}$. In this paper, we give a necessary and sufficient condition for an element in $\mathcal{P}_{n}$ to be regular and characterize all the Green's equivalences on the semigroup $\mathcal{CP}_{n}$.

Abstract:Sufficient conditions are obtained under which the semigroup ring of a semigroup, in particular, of an inverse semigroup, is weakly regular. For some inverse semigroups and some orthodox semigroups, the necessary and sufficient conditions for the weak regularity of the semigroup rings are found. A problem is mentioned especially which is much more difficult for weak regularity than for regularity. Only a partial solution of this problem is given for weak regularity.

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce the definition of groupoid graded rings. Group graded rings, (skew) groupoid rings, artinian semisimple rings, matrix rings and others can be regarded as special kinds of groupoid graded rings. Our main task is to classify strongly groupoid graded rings by cohomology of groupoids. Some classical results about group graded rings are generalized to groupoid graded rings. In particular, the Clifford Theorem for a strongly groupoid graded ring is given.

Abstract:In this work, the lattice of varieties of semigroups and the lattice of varieties of I-semigroups (a common setting for both the variety of completely regular semigroups and the variety of inverse semigroups) are studied with respect to the following concepts: a variety V of (I-)semigroups is said to be locally K-finite, where K stands for any of the five Green's relations, if every finitely generated semigroup from V has only finitely many (distinct) K-classes.
