Abstract:Sufficient conditions are obtained in order that the semigroup rings of some semigroups be regular. For some inverse, orthodox and completely simple semigroups, the necessary and sufficient conditions for the regularity of the semigroup rings are found.

Abstract:Sufficient conditions are obtained under which the semigroup ring of a semigroup, in particular, of an inverse semigroup, is weakly regular. For some inverse semigroups and some orthodox semigroups, the necessary and sufficient conditions for the weak regularity of the semigroup rings are found. A problem is mentioned especially which is much more difficult for weak regularity than for regularity. Only a partial solution of this problem is given for weak regularity.

Abstract:In this paper, the author studies the regularity of Munn rings and completely 0-simple semigroup rings. When either (i)R is a ring with identity andI and Λ are infinite, or (ii)R is a strong IBN and fully Dedekind-finite ring with identity and eitherI or Λ is finite, in Section 2, the regularity of the Munn ringM(R; I, Λ; P) is characterized; in Section 3, for a completely 0-simple semigroupS =M°(G; I, Λ; P), the regularity ofRS is characterized. Meantime, the author shows that for a locally finite monoidS and a ringR with identity,RS is a strong IBN ring if and only ifR is so;RS is fully Dedekind-finite if and only ifR is so.

Abstract:Suppose that $X$ be a nonempty set. Denote by $\mathcal{T}(X)$ the full transformation semigroup on $X$. For $\varnothing \neq Z\subseteq Y\subseteq X$, let $\mathcal{T}(X,Y,Z)=\{\alpha \in \mathcal{T}(X): Y\alpha \subseteq Z \}$. Then $\mathcal{T}(X,Y,Z)$ is a subsemigroup of $\mathcal{T}(X)$. In this paper, we characterize the regular elements of the semigroup $\mathcal{T}(X,Y,Z)$, and present a necessary and sufficient condition under which $\mathcal{T}(X,Y,Z)$ is regular. Furthermore, we investigate the abundance of the semigroup $\mathcal{T}(X,Y,Z)$ for the case $Z\subsetneq Y\subsetneq X$. In addition, we compute the cardinalities of $\mathcal{T}(X,Y,Z)$, ${\rm Reg}(\mathcal{T}(X,Y,Z))$ and ${\rm E}(\mathcal{T}(X,Y,Z))$ when $X$ is finite, respectively.

Abstract:This paper enriches the list of properties of the congruence sequences starting from the universal relation and successively performing the operations of lower $t$ and lower $k$. Three classes of completely regular semigroups, namely semigroups for which $\ker{\sigma}$ is a cryptogroup, semigroups for which $\ker{\nu}$ is a cryptogroup and semigroups for which $\kappa$ is over rectangular bands, are studied. $((\omega_t)_k)_t$, $((\mathcal{D}_t)_k)_t$ and $((\omega_k)_t)_k$ are found to be the least congruences on $S$ such that the quotient semigroups are semigroups for which $\ker{\sigma}$ is a cryptogroup, $\ker{\nu}$ is a cryptogroup and $\kappa$ is over rectangular bands, respectively. The results obtained present a response to three problems in Petrich and Reilly's textbook \textquoteleft\textquoteleft Completely Regular Semigroups\textquoteright\textquoteright.
A groupoid approach to regular $*$-semigroups

Abstract:In this paper we develop a new groupoid-based structure theory for the class of regular $*$-semigroups. This class occupies something of a `sweet spot' between the important classes of inverse and regular semigroups, and contains many natural examples. Some of the most significant families include the partition, Brauer and Temperley-Lieb monoids, among other diagram monoids. Our main result is that the category of regular $*$-semigroups is isomorphic to the category of so-called `chained projection groupoids'. Such a groupoid is in fact a triple $(P,\mathcal G,\varepsilon)$, where: $\bullet$ $P$ is a projection algebra (in the sense of Imaoka and Jones), $\bullet$ $\mathcal G$ is an ordered groupoid with object set $P$, and $\bullet$ $\varepsilon:\mathscr C\to\mathcal G$ is a special functor, where $\mathscr C$ is a certain natural `chain groupoid' constructed from $P$. Roughly speaking: the groupoid $\mathcal G=\mathcal G(S)$ remembers only the `easy' products in a regular $*$-semigroup $S$; the projection algebra $P=P(S)$ remembers only the `conjugation action' of the projections of $S$; and the functor $\varepsilon=\varepsilon(S)$ tells us how $\mathcal G$ and $P$ `fit together' in order to recover the entire structure of $S$. In this way, we obtain the first completely general structure theorem for regular $*$-semigroups. As a consequence of our main result, we give a new proof of the celebrated Ehresmann--Schein--Nambooripad Theorem, which establishes an isomorphism between the categories of inverse semigroups and inductive groupoids. Other applications will be given in future works. We consider several examples along the way, and pose a number of problems that we believe are worthy of further attention.

Abstract:Let $[n]=\{1,2,\ldots,n\}$ be a finite chain and let $\mathcal{T}_{n}$ be the semigroup of full transformations on $[n]$. Let $\mathcal{CT}_{n}=\{\alpha\in \mathcal{T}_{n}: (for ~all~x,y\in [n])~\left|x\alpha-y\alpha\right|\leq\left|x-y\right|\}$, then $\mathcal{CT}_{n}$ is a subsemigroup of $\mathcal{T}_{n}$. In this paper, we give a necessary and sufficient condition for an element to be regular and characterize all the Green's equivalences for the semigroup $\mathcal{CT}_{n}$. We further show that the semigroup $\mathcal{CT}_{n}$ is a left abundant semigroup.

Abstract:We give a criterion for almost Gorenstein property for semigroup rings associated with simplicial semigroups. We extend Nari's theorem for almost symmetric numerical semigroups to simplicial semigroups with higher rank. By this criterion, we determine $2$-dimensional normal semigroup rings which have ``Ulrich elements'' defined in [Herzog-Jafari-Stamate].

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce the definition of groupoid graded rings. Group graded rings, (skew) groupoid rings, artinian semisimple rings, matrix rings and others can be regarded as special kinds of groupoid graded rings. Our main task is to classify strongly groupoid graded rings by cohomology of groupoids. Some classical results about group graded rings are generalized to groupoid graded rings. In particular, the Clifford Theorem for a strongly groupoid graded ring is given.

Abstract:Much study has been done on semigroups which are unions of groups. There are several ways in which a union of groups can be made into a semigroup in which each of the component groups arises as subgroups of the constructed semigroup. An important class of such unions is a semilattice of groups. Group semirings are semirings $(G,+,\cdot )$ where $(G,\cdot )$ is a group and $(G,+)$ is a left zero semigroup. We consider construction of semirings from classes of group semirings $\{G_\alpha :\alpha\in D \}$ indexed by a distributive lattice $D$. It is shown that if $S=\cup\{G_\alpha \}$ is a strong distributive lattice of group semirings $G_\alpha$ then the multiplicative semigroup $(S,\cdot)$ of the semiring $(S,+,\cdot)$ is a Clifford semigroup and the additive semigroup $(S,+)$ is a left normal band. Further in this case all the groups $G_\alpha $ are mutually isomorphic.

Abstract:In this paper,a special kind of partial algebras called projective partial groupoids is defined.It is proved that the inverse image of all projections of a fundamental weak regular * -semigroup underthe homomorphism induced by the maximum idempotent-separating congruence of a weak regular * -semigroup has a projective partial groupoid structure.Moreover,a weak regular * -product whichconnects a fundamental weak regular * -semigroup with corresponding projective partial groupoid isdefined and characterized.It is finally proved that every weak regular * -product is in fact a weakregular * -semigroup and any weak regular * -semigroup is constructed in this way.

Abstract:The purpose of this paper is to study the generalization of inverse semigroups (without order). An ordered semigroup S is called an inverse ordered semigroup if for every a 2 S, any two inverses of a are H-related. We prove that an ordered semigroup is complete semilattice of t-simple ordered semigroups if and only if it is completely regular and inverse. Furthermore characterizations of inverse ordered semigroups have been characterized by their ordered idempotents.

The semigroup is introduced by a presentation and the word problem for that presentation is solved. The structure of the semigroup is also studied.

Abstract:Let $\mathbb{Z}$ be the additive (semi)group of integers. We prove that for a finite semigroup $S$ the direct product $\mathbb{Z}\times S$ contains only countably many subdirect products (up to isomorphism) if and only if $S$ is regular. As a corollary we show that $\mathbb{Z}\times S$ has only countably many subsemigroups (up to isomorphism) if and only if $S$ is completely regular.

Abstract:Let $X_n = \{1,2,\dots,n\}$ be a finite set $(n\geq 2)$ and $T_n$ the full transformation semigroup on $X_n$. For a positive integer $l\leq n-1$, we define $$T_n(l) = \{\alpha\in T_n \colon \forall x,y\in X_n,\, |x-y| = l \;\Rightarrow\; |x\alpha - y\alpha| = l\}$$ and $$T^*_n(l) = \{\alpha\in T_n \colon \forall x,y\in X_n,\, |x-y| = l \;\Leftrightarrow\; |x\alpha - y\alpha| = l\}.$$ Then $T_n(l)$ and $T^*_n(l)$ are subsemigroups of $T_n$. In this paper, we give a necessary and sufficient condition for $T_n(l)$ to be regular. Moreover, we prove that $T^*_n(l)$ is a regular semigroup.

Abstract:Clean rings are generalized and semiclean rings are investigated. Some properties of semiclean rings are discussed. It shows that the followings are equivalent: (1) Ris a semiclean ring; (2) Its formal power series ring R [[x]] is a semiclean ring; (3) Its skew power series ring R [[x; α]] is a semiclean ring. Finally, the following result is proved: Let Rbe a ring and (S, ≤) is a strictly ordered monoid satisfying the condition that 0≤s for every s ∈ S. Then [[R S, ≤]] is a semiclean ring if and only if Ris a semiclean ring.
