Abstract:Sufficient conditions are obtained in order that the semigroup rings of some semigroups be regular. For some inverse, orthodox and completely simple semigroups, the necessary and sufficient conditions for the regularity of the semigroup rings are found.

Abstract:The cyclic graph $\Gamma(S)$ of a semigroup $S$ is the simple graph whose vertex set is $S$ and two vertices $x, y$ are adjacent if the subsemigroup generated by $x$ and $y$ is monogenic. In this paper, we classify the semigroup $S$ such that whose cyclic graph $\Gamma(S)$ is complete, bipartite, tree, regular and a null graph, respectively. Further, we determine the clique number of $\Gamma(S)$ for an arbitrary semigroup $S$. We obtain the independence number of $\Gamma(S)$ if $S$ is a finite monogenic semigroup. At the final part of this paper, we give bounds for independence number of $\Gamma(S)$ if $S$ is a semigroup of bounded exponent and we also characterize the semigroups attaining the bounds.

Abstract:In this paper, the author studies the regularity of Munn rings and completely 0-simple semigroup rings. When either (i)R is a ring with identity andI and Λ are infinite, or (ii)R is a strong IBN and fully Dedekind-finite ring with identity and eitherI or Λ is finite, in Section 2, the regularity of the Munn ringM(R; I, Λ; P) is characterized; in Section 3, for a completely 0-simple semigroupS =M°(G; I, Λ; P), the regularity ofRS is characterized. Meantime, the author shows that for a locally finite monoidS and a ringR with identity,RS is a strong IBN ring if and only ifR is so;RS is fully Dedekind-finite if and only ifR is so.

Abstract:Sufficient conditions are obtained under which the semigroup ring of a semigroup, in particular, of an inverse semigroup, is weakly regular. For some inverse semigroups and some orthodox semigroups, the necessary and sufficient conditions for the weak regularity of the semigroup rings are found. A problem is mentioned especially which is much more difficult for weak regularity than for regularity. Only a partial solution of this problem is given for weak regularity.
A groupoid approach to regular $*$-semigroups

Abstract:In this paper we develop a new groupoid-based structure theory for the class of regular $*$-semigroups. This class occupies something of a `sweet spot' between the important classes of inverse and regular semigroups, and contains many natural examples. Some of the most significant families include the partition, Brauer and Temperley-Lieb monoids, among other diagram monoids. Our main result is that the category of regular $*$-semigroups is isomorphic to the category of so-called `chained projection groupoids'. Such a groupoid is in fact a triple $(P,\mathcal G,\varepsilon)$, where: $\bullet$ $P$ is a projection algebra (in the sense of Imaoka and Jones), $\bullet$ $\mathcal G$ is an ordered groupoid with object set $P$, and $\bullet$ $\varepsilon:\mathscr C\to\mathcal G$ is a special functor, where $\mathscr C$ is a certain natural `chain groupoid' constructed from $P$. Roughly speaking: the groupoid $\mathcal G=\mathcal G(S)$ remembers only the `easy' products in a regular $*$-semigroup $S$; the projection algebra $P=P(S)$ remembers only the `conjugation action' of the projections of $S$; and the functor $\varepsilon=\varepsilon(S)$ tells us how $\mathcal G$ and $P$ `fit together' in order to recover the entire structure of $S$. In this way, we obtain the first completely general structure theorem for regular $*$-semigroups. As a consequence of our main result, we give a new proof of the celebrated Ehresmann--Schein--Nambooripad Theorem, which establishes an isomorphism between the categories of inverse semigroups and inductive groupoids. Other applications will be given in future works. We consider several examples along the way, and pose a number of problems that we believe are worthy of further attention.

Abstract:We define and we characterize regular and c-regular cyclically ordered abelian groups. We prove that every dense c-regular cyclically ordered abelian group is elementarily equivalent to some cyclically ordered group of unimodular complex numbers, that every discrete c-regular cyclically ordered abelian group is elementarily equivalent to some ultraproduct of finite cyclic groups, and that the discrete regular non-c-regular cyclically ordered abelian groups are elementarily equivalent to the linearly cyclically ordered group of integers.
Semi-covariety of numerical semigroups

Abstract:The main aim of this work is to introduce and justify the study of semi-covarities. A {\it semi-covariety} is a non-empty family $\mathcal{F}$ of numerical semigroups such that it is closed under finite intersections, has a minimum, $\min(\mathcal{F}),$ and if $S\in \mathcal{F}$ being $S\neq \min(\mathcal{F})$, then there is $x\in S$ such that $S\backslash \{x\}\in \mathcal{F}$. As examples, we will study the semi-covariety formed by all the numerical semigroups containing a fixed numerical semigroup, and the semi-covariety composed by all the numerical semigroups of coated odd elements and fixed Frobenius number.

Abstract:Let C be a class of topological semigroups. A semigroup X is called absolutely C-closed if for any homomorphism h:X→Y to a topological semigroup Y∈C, the image h[X] is closed in Y. Let T1S, T2S, and TzS be the classes of T1, Hausdorff, and Tychonoff zero-dimensional topological semigroups, respectively. We prove that a commutative semigroup X is absolutely TzS-closed if and only if X is absolutely T2S-closed if and only if X is chain-finite, bounded, group-finite and Clifford + finite. On the other hand, a commutative semigroup X is absolutely T1S-closed if and only if X is finite. Also, for a given absolutely C-closed semigroup X we detect absolutely C-closed subsemigroups in the center of X.

Abstract:The given study uses the methods to identify compactifications of semigroups $S\subset L(X),$ which reside in the space $L(X).$ This method generalizes in some sense the deLeeuw-Glicksberg-Theory to a greater class of functions. The approach provides an abstract approach to several notions of almost periodicity, which mainly involving right semitopological semigroups \cite{RuppertLNM}, and the adjoint theory. Moreover, the given setting is refined to the case of bounded $C_0-$semigroups.

Abstract:Let $\mathbb{Z}$ be the additive (semi)group of integers. We prove that for a finite semigroup $S$ the direct product $\mathbb{Z}\times S$ contains only countably many subdirect products (up to isomorphism) if and only if $S$ is regular. As a corollary we show that $\mathbb{Z}\times S$ has only countably many subsemigroups (up to isomorphism) if and only if $S$ is completely regular.

Abstract:We find anti-isomorphic submonoids $\mathscr{C}_{+}(a,b)$ and $\mathscr{C}_{-}(a,b)$ of the bicyclic monoid $\mathscr{C}(a,b)$ with the following properties: every Hausdorff left-continuous (right-continuous) topology on $\mathscr{C}_{+}(a,b)$ ($\mathscr{C}_{-}(a,b)$) is discrete and there exists a compact Hausdorff topological monoid $S$ which contains $\mathscr{C}_{+}(a,b)$ ($\mathscr{C}_{-}(a,b)$) as a submonoid. Also, we construct a non-discrete right-continuous (left-continuous) topology $\tau_p^+$ ($\tau_p^-$) on the semigroup $\mathscr{C}_{+}(a,b)$ ($\mathscr{C}_{-}(a,b)$) which is not left-continuous (right-continuous).

Abstract:I explicitly compute the Eilenberg-Mac Lane homology of a completely simple semigroup using topological means. I also complete Gray and Pride's investigation into the homological finiteness properties of completely simple semigroups, as well as studying their topological finiteness properties. I give a topological proof of Pride's unpublished homological lower bound for the deficiency of a monoid or semigroup.

Abstract:Regular abelian semigroups are isomorphic to a direct product of an abelian group and a rectangular band (Warne, 1994). Seeking for a similar result for nilpotency, solvability and supernilpotency of regular semigroups, we obtain that analogous statement is true only in orthodox semigroups. We provide an example that shows that the same does not have to be true in regular semigroups that are not orthodox.

Abstract:We first determine the structure of the power digraphs of completely 0-simple semigroups, and then some properties of their power graphs are given. As the main result in this paper, using Cameron and Ghosh's theorem about power graphs of abelian groups, we obtain a characterization that two -normal completely 0-simple orthodox semigroups S and T with abelian group -classes are isomorphic based on their power graphs. We also present an algorithm to determine that S and T are isomorphic or not.

On unboundedness of some invariants of $\mathcal{C}$-semigroups

Abstract:In this article, we consider $\mathcal{C}$-semigroups in $\mathbb{N}^d$. We start with symmetric and almost symmetric $\mathcal{C}$-semigroups and prove that these notions are independent of term orders. We further investigate the conductor and the Apéry set of a $\mathcal{C}$-semigroup with respect to a minimal extremal ray. Building upon this, we extend the notion of reduced type to $\mathcal{C}$-semigroups and study its extremal behavior. For all $d$ and fixed $e \geq 2d$, we give a class of $\mathcal{C}$-semigroups of embedding dimension $e$ such that both the type and the reduced type do not have any upper bound in terms of the embedding dimension. We further explore irreducible decompositions of a $\mathcal{C}$-semigroup and give a lower bound on the irreducible components in an irreducible decomposition. Consequently, we deduce that for each positive integer $k$, there exists a $\mathcal{C}$-semigroup $S$ such that the number of irreducible components of $S$ is at least $k$. A $\mathcal{C}$-semigroup is known as a generalized numerical semigroup when the rational cone spanned by the semigroup is full. We classify all the symmetric generalized numerical semigroups of embedding dimension $2d+1$. Consequently, when $d>1$, we deduce that a generalized numerical semigroup of embedding dimension $2d+1$ is almost symmetric if and only if it is symmetric.

Abstract:We determine the 0-th Hochschild homology of the associative algebra of simplicial cochains valued in a PID: it consists of the ``finite-type" homotopy invariants of free loops, equivalently finite-type class functions on the fundamental group. One major motivation for this calculation is joint work in progress aiming to geometrically construct invariants of links in the 3-sphere as well as other $3$-manifolds, and to realize Milnor's linking numbers as evaluations of 0-th Hochschild homology classes.

Abstract:In this paper, the structure of the nearly invariant subspaces for discrete semigroups generated by several (even infinitely many) automorphisms of the unit disc is described. As part of this work, the near -invariance property of the image space is explored for composition operators , induced by inner functions , and Toeplitz operators T . After that, the analysis of nearly invariant subspaces for strongly continuous multiplication semigroups of isometries is developed with a study of cyclic subspaces generated by a single Hardy class function. These are characterised in terms of model spaces in all cases when the outer factor is a product of an invertible function and a rational (not necessarily invertible) function. Techniques used include the theory of Toeplitz kernels and reproducing kernels.

Abstract:Suppose that $X$ be a nonempty set. Denote by $\mathcal{T}(X)$ the full transformation semigroup on $X$. For $\varnothing \neq Z\subseteq Y\subseteq X$, let $\mathcal{T}(X,Y,Z)=\{\alpha \in \mathcal{T}(X): Y\alpha \subseteq Z \}$. Then $\mathcal{T}(X,Y,Z)$ is a subsemigroup of $\mathcal{T}(X)$. In this paper, we characterize the regular elements of the semigroup $\mathcal{T}(X,Y,Z)$, and present a necessary and sufficient condition under which $\mathcal{T}(X,Y,Z)$ is regular. Furthermore, we investigate the abundance of the semigroup $\mathcal{T}(X,Y,Z)$ for the case $Z\subsetneq Y\subsetneq X$. In addition, we compute the cardinalities of $\mathcal{T}(X,Y,Z)$, ${\rm Reg}(\mathcal{T}(X,Y,Z))$ and ${\rm E}(\mathcal{T}(X,Y,Z))$ when $X$ is finite, respectively.
