On subgroup regular sets in Cayley sum graphs

Abstract:Let ฮ=(V,E) be a graph and a,b nonnegative integers. An (a,b) -regular set in ฮ is a nonempty proper subset D of V such that every vertex in D has exactly a neighbours in D and every vertex in VโD has exactly b neighbours in D . Let G be a finite group and S a square-free normal subset of G . The Cayley sum graph Cay+(G,S) of G with respect to S is the graph with vertex set G such that two distinct vertices x,y are adjacent if and only if xy is in S . A subset (resp. subgroup) D of G is called an (a,b) -regular set (resp. subgroup (a,b) -regular set) of G if it is an (a,b) -regular set in some Cayley sum graph of G . Building on previous work, in this paper, we mainly study (0,b) -regular sets of Cayley sum graphs. We first obtain some necessary and sufficient conditions for a subgroup of a group G to be a (0,b) -regular set of G . Then, we show some necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of subgroup (0,b) -regular sets of a finite abelian group. Finally, as applications, we characterize all possible subgroup (0,b) -regular sets of a cyclic group, a dihedral group and a generalized quaternion group.
