Abstract:We study a class of special strongly rpp semigroups, namely, the class of super rpp semigroups. These super rpp semigroups are generalizations of both superabundant semigroups and Clifford semigroups within the class of rpp semigroups. In particular, we prove that a super rpp semigroup is a semilattice of D (l)-simple strongly rpp semigroups. Our result not only generalizes a well-known theorem of Clifford in the class of completely regular semigroups but also strengthens some structure theorems obtained by Ren-Shum for superabundant semigroups which are orthodox. Some special super rpp semigroups are considered and discussed.

Abstract:The super-r-wide semigroups (in [6], called super-r-ample semigroups) [ortho-lc-monoids] within the class of rpp semigroups form a kind of generalized completely regular semigroups [orthogroups]. In this article, some structure theorems of ortho-lc-monoids are established and some special ortho-lc-monoids such as orthocrypto-lc-monoids, lc-Clifford semigroups, which we defined, are considered; the semilattice decomposition of super-r-wide semigroups is given. As direct corollaries of the results that we obtained, some new structure theorems for ortho-c-monoids and orthogroups, different from [13] and [10], are given, and hence, the structure theorem for ortho-lc-monoids that we established is not the direct generalization of the results in [13] and [10]; the structure of orthocryptogroups is reobtained; the well-known Clifford theorem is further generalized.

Abstract:Sufficient conditions are obtained under which the semigroup ring of a semigroup, in particular, of an inverse semigroup, is weakly regular. For some inverse semigroups and some orthodox semigroups, the necessary and sufficient conditions for the weak regularity of the semigroup rings are found. A problem is mentioned especially which is much more difficult for weak regularity than for regularity. Only a partial solution of this problem is given for weak regularity.

An rpp semigroup S is said to be strongly rpp if for any a ∈ S, there exists a unique idempotent e such that [Formula: see text] and a = ea. In this paper, we show that a [Formula: see text]-simple strongly rpp semigroup can be expressed by a Rees matrix semigroup over a left cancellative monoid and conversely. Our result generalizes the classical theorem of Rees in 1940 and also amplifies the Rees theorem in semigroup given by Lallement and Petrich in 1969.

Abstract:In this paper,a special kind of partial algebras called projective partial groupoids is defined.It is proved that the inverse image of all projections of a fundamental weak regular * -semigroup underthe homomorphism induced by the maximum idempotent-separating congruence of a weak regular * -semigroup has a projective partial groupoid structure.Moreover,a weak regular * -product whichconnects a fundamental weak regular * -semigroup with corresponding projective partial groupoid isdefined and characterized.It is finally proved that every weak regular * -product is in fact a weakregular * -semigroup and any weak regular * -semigroup is constructed in this way.

In this article, after giving some important properties of r-ample semigroups and super-r-ample semigroups, some structure theorems of ortho-lc-monoids are established, and several special cases are considered. The main techniques that we use in the study are the (*, similar to)-Green's relations and semispined product of semigroups.

Abstract:As generalizations of Rota--Baxter groups, Rota--Baxter Clifford semigroups have been introduced by Catino, Mazzotta and Stefanelli in 2023. Based on their pioneering results, in this paper we first continue to study Rota--Baxter Clifford semigroups. Inspired by the corresponding results in Rota--Baxter groups, we firstly obtain some properties and construction methods for Rota--Baxter Clifford semigroups, and then study the substructures and quotient structures of these semigroups. On the other hand, as generalizations of post-groups, Rota--Baxter Clifford semigroups and braided groups, in this paper we introduce and investigate post Clifford semigroups, relative Rota--Baxter Clifford semigroups and braided Clifford semigroups, respectively. We prove that the categories of strong post Clifford semigroups, dual weak left braces, bijective strong relative Rota-Baxter Clifford semigroups and braided Clifford semigroups are mutually pairwise equivalent, and the category of post Clifford semigroups is equivalent to the category of bijective relative Rota--Baxter Clifford semigroups, respectively. As a consequence, we prove that both post Clifford semigroups, relative Rota--Baxter Clifford semigroups and braided Clifford semigroups can provide set-theoretical solutions for the Yang--Baxter equation. The substructures and quotient structures of relative Rota--Baxter Clifford semigroups are also considered.

A Compact Representation for Modular Semilattices and Its Applications

Abstract:A modular semilattice is a semilattice generalization of a modular lattice. We establish a Birkhoff-type representation theorem for modular semilattices, which says that every modular semilattice is isomorphic to the family of ideals in a certain poset with additional relations. This new poset structure, which we axiomatize in this paper, is called a PPIP (projective poset with inconsistent pairs). A PPIP is a common generalization of a PIP (poset with inconsistent pairs) and a projective ordered space. The former was introduced by Barthélemy and Constantin for establishing Birkhoff-type theorem for median semilattices, and the latter by Herrmann, Pickering, and Roddy for modular lattices. We show the Θ(n) representation complexity and a construction algorithm for PPIP-representations of (∧,∨)-closed sets in the product Ln of modular semilattice L. This generalizes the results of Hirai and Oki for a special median semilattice Sk. We also investigate implicational bases for modular semilattices. Extending earlier results of Wild and Herrmann for modular lattices, we determine optimal implicational bases and develop a polynomial time recognition algorithm for modular semilattices. These results can be applied to retain the minimizer set of a submodular function on a modular semilattice.

Abstract:Two semigroups are lattice isomorphic if their subsemigroup lattices are isomorphic, and a class of semigroups is lattice closed if it contains every semigroup which is lattice isomorphic to some semigroup from that class. An orthodox semigroup is a regular semigroup whose idempotents form a subsemigroup. We prove that the class of all orthodox semigroups having no nontrivial finite subgroups is lattice closed.

Categorical representation of DRC-semigroups

Abstract:DRC-semigroups model associative systems with domain and range operations, and contain many important classes, such as inverse, restriction, Ehresmann, regular $*$-, and $*$-regular semigroups. In this paper we show that the category of DRC-semigroups is isomorphic to a category of certain biordered categories whose object sets are projection algebras in the sense of Jones. This extends the recent groupoid approach to regular $*$-semigroups of the first and third authors. We also establish the existence of free DRC-semigroups by constructing a left adjoint to the forgetful functor into the category of projection algebras.

We investigate the behaviour of the property of being $\mathcal{R}$-noetherian under the following standard semigroup-theoretic constructions: semidirect products, Schützenberger products, free products, Rees matrix semigroups, Brandt extensions, Bruck-Reilly extensions and semilattices of semigroups.

Abstract:Let $\Omega_n$ be a finite chain with $n$ elements $(n\in\mathbb{N})$, and let $\mathcal{POPI}_{n}$ be the semigroup of all injective orientation-preserving partial transformations of $\Omega_n$. In this paper, for any nonempty subset $Y$ of $\Omega_n$, we consider the subsemigroup $\mathcal{POPI}_{n}(Y)$ of $\mathcal{POPI}_{n}$ of all transformations with range contained in $Y$. We describe the Green's relations and study the regularity of $\mathcal{POPI}_{n}(Y)$. Moreover, we calculate the rank of $\mathcal{POPI}_{n}(Y)$ and determine when two semigroups of this type are isomorphic.

Abstract:The purpose of this paper is to introduce a new family of semigroups - the free projection-generated regular $*$-semigroups - and initiate their systematic study. Such a semigroup $PG(P)$ is constructed from a projection algebra $P$, using the recent groupoid approach to regular $*$-semigroups. The assignment $P\mapsto PG(P)$ is a left adjoint to the forgetful functor that maps a regular $*$-semigroup $S$ to its projection algebra $P(S)$. In fact, the category of projection algebras is coreflective in the category of regular $*$-semigroups. The algebra $P(S)$ uniquely determines the biordered structure of the idempotents $E(S)$, up to isomorphism, and this leads to a category equivalence between projection algebras and regular $*$-biordered sets. As a consequence, $PG(P)$ can be viewed as a quotient of the classical free idempotent-generated (regular) semigroups $IG(E)$ and $RIG(E)$, where $E=E(PG(P))$; this is witnessed by a number of presentations in terms of generators and defining relations. The semigroup $PG(P)$ can also be viewed as the fundamental groupoid of a simplicial complex explicitly constructed from $P$. The theory is then illustrated on a number of examples. In one direction, the free construction applied to the projection algebras of adjacency semigroups yields a new family of graph-based path semigroups. In another, it turns out that, remarkably, the Temperley-Lieb monoid $TL_n$ is the free regular $*$-semigroup over its own projection algebra $P(TL_n)$.

Abstract:The idempotent semigroups (bands) that give rise to partial orders by defining are the right-regular bands (RRB), which are axiomatized by . In this work we consider the class of associative posets , which comprises all partial orders underlying right-regular bands, and study to what extent the ordering determines the possible "compatible" band structures and their canonicity. We show that the class of associative posets in the signature is not first-order axiomatizable. We also show that the Axiom of Choice is equivalent over to the fact that every tree with finite branches is associative. We study the smaller class of "normal" posets (corresponding to right-normal bands) and give a structural characterization.

Abstract:Much study has been done on semigroups which are unions of groups. There are several ways in which a union of groups can be made into a semigroup in which each of the component groups arises as subgroups of the constructed semigroup. An important class of such unions is a semilattice of groups. Group semirings are semirings $(G,+,\cdot )$ where $(G,\cdot )$ is a group and $(G,+)$ is a left zero semigroup. We consider construction of semirings from classes of group semirings $\{G_\alpha :\alpha\in D \}$ indexed by a distributive lattice $D$. It is shown that if $S=\cup\{G_\alpha \}$ is a strong distributive lattice of group semirings $G_\alpha$ then the multiplicative semigroup $(S,\cdot)$ of the semiring $(S,+,\cdot)$ is a Clifford semigroup and the additive semigroup $(S,+)$ is a left normal band. Further in this case all the groups $G_\alpha $ are mutually isomorphic.
