Abstract:Iron phosphate nanotubes with mesoporous walls are solvothermally synthesized using sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) as a template. With different template concentrations, various shapes of nanosized iron phosphates can be obtained. When the concentration of SDS is set at the transition regions between the lamellar and the hexagonal mesophases, according to its phase diagram, the coassembly of iron phosphate precursor and SDS forms a flake-type mesoporous iron phosphate. Otherwise, nanoparticles or bulky sheets of iron phosphates are obtained. The followed solvothermal treatments on the mesoporous iron phosphate flakes produce iron phosphate nanotubes with mesoporous walls. The removal of the surfactant by acetate exchange and heat treatment results in the clean mesoporous nanotubes of iron phosphate with diameters of 50-400 nm and lengths of several microns. The nanotubular and mesoporous iron phosphate possesses a specific surface area of 232 m2/g and a bimodal distribution of pore sizes, corresponding to the size of mesopores in the walls and the diameter of the nanotubes, respectively. The novel nanotubular iron phosphate with composite meso-macroporous structure, in favor of the diffusion of reactive molecules, has been tested for direct hydroxylation of benzene with hydrogen peroxide and has shown better catalytic performance compared with the conventional particulate mesoporous iron phosphate.

Abstract:Facile micro-emulsion methods have been developed to synthesize mesoporous Co-Al hydroxide carbonates with rodlike and hexagonal sheetlike morphologies. A series of samples with different molar ratio of cobalt/aluminum were prepared to investigate the impact of cobalt content. Employing transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction analysis and Fourier transformed infrared spectra, the morphology, structure and composition of the products were investigated. Characterized by gas-sorption measurements, the specific surface area of the calcined S-10 sample with the rodlike morphology was as high as 379 m(2)/g, which provided this material porosity properties and outstanding fluoride removal efficiency as high as 95.6%. The sorptive removal capacity of fluoride from aqueous solutions by the precursors and their corresponding annealed products was investigated in a batch mode. Also, the adsorption kinetics and isotherms were discussed. (C) 2014 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

Abstract:A facile approach for the synthesis of ultralight iron oxide hierarchical structures with tailorable macro- and mesoporosity is reported. This method entails the growth of porous Prussian blue (PB) single crystals on the surface of a polyurethane sponge, followed by in situ thermal conversion of PB crystals into three-dimensional mesoporous iron oxide (3DMI) architectures. Compared to previously reported ultralight materials, the 3DMI architectures possess hierarchical macro- and mesoporous frameworks with multiple advantageous features, including high surface area (ca. 117 m(2) g(-1)) and ultralow density (6-11 mg cm(-3)). Furthermore, they can be synthesized on a kilogram scale. More importantly, these 3DMI structures exhibit superparamagnetism and tunable hydrophilicity/hydrophobicity, thus allowing for efficient multiphase interfacial adsorption and fast multiphase catalysis.

Abstract:The local structure of ordered mesoporous iron phosphate, prepared through coassembly of inorganic species and sodium dodecyl sulfate template under the assistance of HF, has been investigated with several physicochemical methods, including small-angle XRD, TG-DSC, and combined spectroscopic characterization of FT-IR, Far-IR, Raman, UV-vis, and XPS. The redox property has also been measured by using the H-2-TPR method. The results of TEM and nitrogen sorption show the mesoporous iron phosphate possesses a well-established mesostructure, narrow pore size distribution, and large surface area (423 m(2)/g). The results of the spectroscopic characterization reveal that the mesoporous iron phosphate has specific iron-oxygen and phosphorus-oxygen local environment, differing from those in its crystalline counterpart. Compared with a crystalline sample, the iron-oxygen polyhedrons in the mesoporous sample shows a characteristic of distorted configuration, while the phosphate roots have a shorter P-O bond. Fluorine species are detected by XPS measurement. These factors cause the reduction by hydrogen of the mesoporous iron phosphate to be difficult. The hydroxylation reaction of phenol in glacial acetic acid by hydrogen peroxide has been used as a probe reaction to test the catalytic property of the mesoporous iron phosphate. Better catalytic performance and unique distribution of products has been observed on the mesoporous sample, compared to the crystalline ion phosphate. Finally, a model about the surface structure and reaction network of the hydroxylation of phenol on iron phosphate is proposed.

Abstract:Mesoporous Fe-MCM-41 materials were synthesized by using ionic liquid 1-cethyl-3-methylimidazolium bromide ([C(16)mim]Br-+(-)) as template at room temperature and characterized by X-ray diffraction, N-2 adsorption-desorption, FT-IR, EPR, UV-Vis. Results show that these mesoporous materials possess high surface area. The pore size distributions of Fe-MCM-41 show that there are two types mesoporous. Part of iron atom still retain in the framework after removal of the template by calcination except those transferring to the wall surface. Fe species on wall surface are, of high dispersion. This indicates that stable framework-iron containing mesoporous molecular sieves Fe-MCM-41 can be successfully synthesized.

Abstract:Abstract This essay studies a novel environment-friendly synthesis method for the high purity micron iron phosphate. Compared with traditional synthesis method, this new method can greatly reduce the amount of industrial sewage, hence it is an environment-friendly production technology which can effectively improve the products’ purity, structure stability and morphological consistency. This new method includes two-step reactions: first, phosphoric acid, iron powder and hydrogen peroxide are used as raw materials to obtain iron phosphate dihydrate intermediate, which is then calcined at high temperature to obtain anhydrous iron phosphate. The results show that the iron phosphate prepared for this new method is a hexagonal system-structured iron orthophosphate with high purity and without any impurities, exhibiting a regular and primary spherical particle morphology, at the average size of 3.096 μ m in particle and the specific surface area reaching 39.1765 m 2 g −1 . With these excellent characteristics, it has better application potentials in the field of electrode material preparation. The electrochemical performance of lithium iron phosphate anode materials synthesized with it as the precursor is superior to those synthesized with the iron phosphate prepared by the traditional method as precursor. The first specific capacity of discharge at 0.5C and 10C can be as high as 154.3989 or 102.9326 mAh g −1 , increasing by 2.74% and 8.03%, respectively.

Abstract:The synthesis and functionalization of mesoporous zirconium (IV) phosphate-phenylphosphonate have been systematically described as a new non-siliceous mesoporous material. The mesostructure formation and functionalization Could be proved through XRD, BET, (31)PMASNMR, IR, TEM and TGA characterization methods. The samples prepared have worm-like 3D-connected tubular mesopores, higher Surface areas and better thermal stabilities in contrast to the layered analogs. The amount of phenyl groups inside the samples could be adjusted by controlling the molar ratio of the phosphoric and phosphonic acids during the synthesis procedure. Furthermore, the phenyl groups inside the pore channels of samples call be easily functionalized through Phenyl Substitution reactions to incorporate sulphonate, bromic, nitro groups. After functionalization, the sulphonated and brominated samples still kept the mesostructure but the nitrified sample did not. The results of the NH3 adsorption microcalorimetric and TGA measurements demonstrated that the sulphonated sample had more strong acid sites and higher thermal stability, and consequently possess higher acid catalytic activity for the liquid phase esterification reaction between benzoic acid and methanol.

Abstract:In this work, a facile and green method is applied to synthesize hydrophilic MOF-808(Zr) and modulate its defect content and particle size using different amounts of iron nitrate (denoted as F) to obtain serial XF-MOF-808 (“X” implied the dosage of used F). The development of additional adsorption sites and the fine-tune of pore and particle size based on MOF-808 significantly improved phosphate adsorption performance. In particular, the 0.5F-MOF-808 shows excellent adsorption capacity (305.5 mg/g) and rapid diffusion rate (37.51 mg/g·min0.5) for phosphate at 298 K and initial pH = 6.5, outperforming pristine MOF-808 and most previously reported adsorbents. 0.5F-MOF-808 possesses a wide pH tolerance, outstanding reusability and excellent selectivity for phosphate adsorption from simulated wastewater, verified in environmental implication and regeneration experiments. Phosphate loaded on the adsorbent can be converted to struvite for agricultural fertilizer via a simple crystallization process. Compared to MOF-808, the exceptional sorption performance of 0.5F-MOF-808 is supported by decreased internal diffusion limitation, enlarged pore size and the development of new adsorption sites, which can be proved by advanced characterizations and batch adsorption experiments. This work presents a promising modification strategy of MOF materials for phosphate adsorption and recovery.

Abstract:Iron nitrate,phosphoric acid and concentrated alkaline solution were used as raw materials to synthesis FePO4.X H2O.The reaction mechanism of liquid phase precipitation method and the influence of pH,temperature,reaction time on the synthesis of FePO4.X H2O were researched.Morphology of prepared material was characterized using SEM.The results show that tap density of the material prepared at pH=2.0,T=60 ℃ for 15 h is up to 1.3 g/cm3,with spherical structure gathered by nanocrystal.The tap density of lithium iron phosphate synthesized with the prepared FePO4.X H2O is up to 1.4 g/cm3.The results of charge-discharge test show that the first discharge specific capacity is 155.3 mAh/g at 0.2 C rate,with 97% efficiency.And the material exhibit excellent cyclic reversibility.

Abstract:Amorphous hydrated iron (III) phosphate nanoparticles with average particle size of 80nm were synthesized by a facile coprecipitation method at ambient temperature. The obtained sample was characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetrical analysis (TGA), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The electrochemical performances of the samples as cathode active materials were investigated in the 3.8–2.0V range at a current density of 0.4mAcm−2. The results show that the obtained discharge capacity was improved for amorphous FePO4·2H2O.

Abstract:Ordered large-pore (up to 12 nm) and stable mesoporous aluminophosphates (AlPO) have been synthesized by using block copolymer (EO106PO70EO106, Pluronic F127) as a structure-directing agent. The selection of inorganic precursors is based on an “acid–base pair” route. Three acid–base pair, including AlCl3/H3PO4, AlCl3/OP(OCH3)3 and Al(OC4H9)3/PCl3 are confirmed to be efficient for the assembly of periodic mesoporous frameworks. Ordered 2-D hexagonal mesoporous aluminophosphates can be obtained by using AlCl3/H3PO4 as precursors, while disordered mesoporous aluminophosphates are produced by using AlCl3/OP(OCH3)3 or Al(OC4H9)3/PCl3 as precursors. BET surface areas and pore sizes of the products vary from 261 to 115 m2/g and from 9.4 to 12 nm, respectively. The solution and solid state 27Al and 31P MAS NMR were used to characterize the chemical environment of aluminium and phosphorus before and after the formation of mesostructured AlPO products, which simultaneously allows us to evaluate the efficiency of inorganic–inorganic (I–I) interactions (Al–O–P) of different acid–base pair. Both 27Al and 31P MAS NMR results show that among the three acid–base pair, AlCl3/H3PO4 pair interacts more readily with each other than the other two pairs [AlCl3/OP(OCH3)3, Al(OC4H9)3/PCl3], and tends to form rigid framework before calcination. The detailed structural characterizations reveal that strong I–I interactions (Al–O–P) between inorganic precursors will lead to a final mesoporous material with high structure regularity. This method can also be applied to synthesize iron-incorporated aluminophosphate (FeAlPO) with highly ordered 2-D hexagonal structure. BET surface area and pore size of FeAlPO prepared with Fe/Al=0.1 (molar ratio) are 181 m2/g and 8.9 nm, respectively. Electron spin resonance (ESR) and UV–vis spectra were employed to characterize the chemical state of Fe3+ ion.

Abstract:Mesoporous silica with a novel Structure (FDU-11) has been prepared for the first time by using a rigid bolaform tetra-head-group quaternary ammonium surfactant: [(CH3)(3)NCH2CH2CH2CH2N(CH3)(2) CH2(CH2)(11)OC6H4C6H4O(CH2)(11)CH2N(CH3)(2)CH2CH2CH2N(CH3)(3)](4+)center dot 4Br(-) under an alkaline condition. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscope (TEM) studies show that the mesoporous silica FDU-11 may have a low symmetric tetragonal mesostructure with P4/mm:space group. N-2 sorption isotherms show that calcined mesoporous silica FDU-11 has the BET surface arc of 281 m(2)/g, pore size of 2.05 nm and the pore volume of 0.36 cm(3)/g. A phase transformation from FDU-1 into another unknown mesoporous silica structure by a hydrothermal treatment is observed, suggesting intermediate nature of the FDU-11 mesophase.

Abstract:An approach to synthesize monodisperse nanospheres with nanoporous structure through a solvent extraction route using an acidbase-coupled extractant has been developed. The nanospheres form through self-assembly and templating by reverse micelles in the organic solvent extraction systems. More importantly, the used extractant in this route can be recycled. The power of this approach is demonstrated by the synthesis of monodisperse iron phosphate nanospheres, exhibiting promising applications in energy storage. The synthetic parameters have been optimized. Based on this, a possible formation mechanism is also proposed. The synthetic procedure is relatively simple and could be extended to synthesize other water-insoluble inorganic metal salts.

Abstract:Monodisperse and high-surface-area mesoporous inorganic spheres of various compositions including metal oxides, mixed oxides, and metal phosphates are prepared by templating mesoporous carbon spheres which are replicated from spherical mesoporous silica. Due to the rigid and thermally stable framework of carbon template, the crystalline phases of the obtained metal oxide spheres can be readily tailored by controlling crystalline temperatures. Moreover, the sphere morphologies can be changed from solid structure to hollow structure in some cases by changing the polarity of the precursor, due to the hydrophobic nature of carbon template.

Abstract:Unique amorphous FePO4 with particle size ranging from 20 to 80nm has been successfully synthesized by a new cost-effective electrochemical method. This FePO4 possesses a mesoporous structure with specific surface area of 65.2m2g−1 and dominant pore diameter of 23.6nm. The basic formation mechanism has been discussed. These amorphous mesoporous FePO4 nanoparticles can be used as precursors to prepare LiFePO4/C nanocrystals with porous structure. The obtained LiFePO4/C cathode materials exhibit excellent cycling performances. At a 0.5C rate, the discharge capability is above 140.0mAhg−1 and the capacity retention rate is higher than 98% after 50 cycles. The microstructural and electrochemical analyses reveal that these amorphous mesoporous FePO4 nanoparticles are the perfect precursors to prepare LiFePO4/C composite. Furthermore, this facile, cost-effective and green electrochemical strategy can be easily scaled up for commercialization, and also could open avenues towards synthesizing other mesoporous phosphate materials.
