Abstract:Protic deep eutectic mixtures are usually composed of organic amine hydrochloride salts and hydrogen bond donors in a specific molar ratio. Ionothermal synthesis of aluminophosphate as an example, herein, was reported for the first time from an urea-based protic eutectic mixture, consisting of diethylammonium chloride (DEACl) and 1,3-dimethyl urea (DMU). As a result, a new two dimensional aluminophosphate with 4.8-network, [CH3NH3](2)[(C2H5)(2)NH2]Al-3(PO4)(4), has been successfully synthesized by co-templating the DEA and methylamine in situ generated from the decomposition of DMU in the absence of HF. Compared to alkyl quaternary ammonium salts with more alkyl-group connected with N atom, this kind of organic amine salts are more likely as the structure-directing agents to synthesize aluminophosphates in urea-based deep eutectic mixtures. It was also found that HF is crucial to the phase selectivity, a known compound with chain-like structure was obtained with the single methylamine as a structure-directing agent in the presence of HF. These materials were characterized by powder XRD, SEM, TG-DSC, C-13 CP-MAS NMR and CHN analyses.

Abstract:Two new organically templated manganese phosphate oxalates were synthesized under solvent-free conditions. They have different three-dimensional structures with a (4,6)-connected fsh topology. It is interesting that the amine molecules can reverse the structure-building roles of the metal phosphate skeleton and metal oxalate substructure for formation of their fsh-type frameworks.

Though the non-hydrogen atomic ratios among Mo, Fe, P, O in the anionic chains are the same, the protonation of the PO4 groups is different in 1 and 2, with the result that the anionic chains carry different charges and subsequently give rise to different numbers of Fe-II(2,2'-bipyridine)(3) per {Fe-2(III)[Fe-2(II)(P16Mo24V)]} unit.

Abstract:A family of lamellar aluminophosphates designated APO-Ln (L stands for lamellar and n = 6, 8, 10, 12, the number of carbon atoms for the occluded template molecules) was synthesized from a mixture of phosphoric acid, aluminum triisopropoxide, ethylene glycol and an unbranched primary alcohol in the presence of an amine as the structure-directing template. The compounds were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, MAS NMR spectroscopy, differential thermal, and thermogravimetric analyses. The inorganic layers of APO-Ln are composed of PO4, AlO4, and AlO6 structural units, and the ratio of the octahedral Al to the tetrahedral Al in the as-synthesized compounds is about 1:1. APO-Ln exhibit a distinct weight loss when treated at elevated temperatures, and upon dehydration they adsorb a considerable amount of water. Dehydration-rehydration for APO-Ln materials is reversible with the dehydrated samples containing almost only tetrahedrally coordinated aluminum.

Abstract:Three open-framework iron phosphites: Feп5(NH4)2(HPO3)6 (1), Feп2Fe♯(NH4)(HPO3)4 (2) and Fe♯2(HPO3)3 (3) have been synthesized under ionothermal conditions. How the different synthesis parameters, such as the gel concentrations, synthetic times, reaction temperatures and solvents affect the products have been monitored by using high-throughput approaches. Within each type of experiment, relevant products have been investigated. The optimal reaction conditions are obtained from a series of experiments by high-throughput approaches. All the structures are determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis and further characterized by PXRD, TGA and FTIR analyses. Magnetic study reveals that those three compounds show interesting magnetic behavior at low temperature.

Abstract:A three-dimensional iron phosphite, NH4 center dot [(Fe2FeIII)-Fe-II(HPO3)(4)], has been synthesized under mild hydrothermal conditions and characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction. The compound crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P2(1)/c, with unit cell parameters, a = 12.4397(3) angstrom, b = 10.1642(3) angstrom, e = 9.3201(3) angstrom, and Z = 4. The compound forms three-dimensional framework with six-membered channels along the c-axis. The Fe center in the framework adopts slightly distorted octahedral coordination geometry and is bridged by the pseudo-pyramidal phosphites. Magnetic measurement indicates the anti-ferromagnetic interactions in the title compound. (C) 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
Synthesis of Lamellar Mesostructures with Nonamphiphilic Mesogens As Templates

Abstract:Magnesium- and zinc-based lamellar mesostructures were synthesized with nonamphiphilic mesogens as templates. The templates used were disodium chromoglycate (DSCG) and flufenamic acid (FA) which are known to exhibit lyotropic liquid-crystalline phases in aqueous solutions. Evidence for the lamellar structure was obtained from the X-ray diffraction patterns and transmission electron micrographs. The interlayer spacings in the materials prepared with DSCG and FA, 30 and 24 Angstrom, respectively, were large compared to the molecular dimensions of the templates, suggesting the existence of a bilayer arrangement of the templates between the inorganic walls. The presence of intact template molecules within the layers was confirmed by chemical analysis, TGA, IR, and NMR measurements. Interactions between the template molecules and the inorganic layer were evident through the increase in their decomposition temperatures as compared to the pure template and by the slight weakening of the C=O bond as determined by the IR measurements. The synthesis of lamellar mesostructures with nonamphiphilic mesogens broadens the scope of the so-called ''liquid-crystal template mechanism'' in the sense that it is not limited to amphiphilic molecules but applies also to other molecules which can form large molecular assemblies in solutions.

Abstract:Three new metal phosphate-oxalates, namely, (H(2)dmp)(0.5)center dot Mn(H2PO4)(C2O4) (1), and H2R center dot In-2(HPO4)(2)(H2PO4)(2)(C2O4)center dot H2O (R = dmp (2) and dmapa (3)) were prepared under solvent-free conditions, where dmp = 1,4-dimethylpiperazine and dmapa = 3-(dimethylamino)-1-propylamine. Compound 1 has a layered structure with an sql net. Compounds 2 and 3 are isostructural and have large 16-ring channels with a zeolitic crb net. The temperature dependence of the magnetic susceptibility of compound 1 and the photoluminescent property of compound 3 were investigated.

Abstract:Two iron diphosphonates, [NH3(CH2)2NH3][FeII{HO3PC (CH3)(OH)(PO3H)}2] ·2H2O (1) and [NH3(CH2)2NH2(CH2)2 NH3][FeIII{O3PC(CH3)(OH)(PO3H)}2]·H2O (2), have been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions. Crystal data: 1, monoclinic, C2/c, a=24.754(5), b=5.331(1), c=16.010(3) Å, β=117.787(3)°, V=1868.9(6) Å3, Z=4, R1=0.0321; 2, orthorhombic, Pbcn, a=22.128(4), b=9.9479(9), c=19.110(2) Å, V=4206.7(9) Å3, Z=8, R1=0.0389. Both show chain structures in which anionic chains of [FeII{HO3PC(CH3)(OH) (PO3H)}2]n2n − in 1 or [FeIII{O3PC(CH3)(OH)(PO3H)}2]n3n− in 2 are composed of {FeIIO6} or {FeIIIO6} octahedra and {CPO3} tetrahedra alternatively. The protonated organic amines and lattice water are located between the chains with extensive hydrogen bonding interactions. Weak antiferromagnetic exchange couplings are propagated between the magnetic centers through the O–P–O bridges in both cases.

Abstract:Novel lamellar mesostructured hydroxyapatites have firstly been synthesized by template-assisted technique. The mild and nontoxic surfactant, phosphoric acid monododecyl ester (MAP), is used to act as a structure-directing template. The structure of sample was characterized by X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, Scanning electron microscope and Transmission electron microscopy. The results indicate that the obtained sample is a well-organized lamellar mesostructured hydroxyapatite with a uniform layer spacing of 3.64 nm. (c) 2006 Published by Elsevier B.V.

Abstract:A novel layered framework of tin(II) phosphate, [Sn-4(PO4)(3)(OH)](2-.)[trans-1,2-C6H,O(NH3)(2)](2+), has been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions with tin(Il) oxalate, phosphoric acid and a mixture of trans- and cis-1,2-diaminocyclohexane (1,2-DACH). The compound crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P2(1)/n (No. 14). The channels of the trans-1,2-DACH are occluded by hydrogen bonding in the doubly protonated form, which is leached out from the framework. Reaction using only tran-DACH gives the same compound. For comparison, when cis-DACH is used as template under the same conditions instead of the mixture of trans and cis isomers, the neutral inorganic phosphate framework (Sn3O)(2)(Sn2O)(2)(PO4)(4) is formed. It crystallizes in the triclinic space group P1 (No. 2). These results suggest that trans- 1,2-DACH is selectively occluded in the framework, Sn-4(PO4)(3)(OH)](2-.) [trans- 1,2-C6H2O(NH3)(2)](2+). Abstract:In this work, pure iron phosphate products with various morphologies and crystal structures were obtained by coupling fast precipitation in a microreactor and the aging process. Morphology control from amorphous nanoparticle to monoclinic microsheet or microsphere can be simply realized by only changing the addition of H3PO4 in the reaction system. Microscopic observations on morphology evolvement revealed the formation of different morphology, or crystal structure could be illustrated by the synergetic effect of precursor produced in the mixing unit and postgrowth from solution in aging generally. Furthermore, Cr(III) adsorption determinations confirmed monoclinic-phase FePO4 had a better adsorption capacity than amorphous FePO4, and microsheet FePO4 has potential as a Cr(III) adsorbent with rationality in crystal structure, surface area, and macroscopic size.
Structural and Catalytic Investigation of Mesoporous Iron Phosphate

Abstract:The local structure of ordered mesoporous iron phosphate, prepared through coassembly of inorganic species and sodium dodecyl sulfate template under the assistance of HF, has been investigated with several physicochemical methods, including small-angle XRD, TG-DSC, and combined spectroscopic characterization of FT-IR, Far-IR, Raman, UV-vis, and XPS. The redox property has also been measured by using the H-2-TPR method. The results of TEM and nitrogen sorption show the mesoporous iron phosphate possesses a well-established mesostructure, narrow pore size distribution, and large surface area (423 m(2)/g). The results of the spectroscopic characterization reveal that the mesoporous iron phosphate has specific iron-oxygen and phosphorus-oxygen local environment, differing from those in its crystalline counterpart. Compared with a crystalline sample, the iron-oxygen polyhedrons in the mesoporous sample shows a characteristic of distorted configuration, while the phosphate roots have a shorter P-O bond. Fluorine species are detected by XPS measurement. These factors cause the reduction by hydrogen of the mesoporous iron phosphate to be difficult. The hydroxylation reaction of phenol in glacial acetic acid by hydrogen peroxide has been used as a probe reaction to test the catalytic property of the mesoporous iron phosphate. Better catalytic performance and unique distribution of products has been observed on the mesoporous sample, compared to the crystalline ion phosphate. Finally, a model about the surface structure and reaction network of the hydroxylation of phenol on iron phosphate is proposed.
