Abstract:The power supply rejection (PSR) based on closed-loop low-dropout regulator (LDO) is analyzed to achieve high PSR in LDO, and help the designer meet the PSR requirement when considering the other performances of LDO. Using small signal model of MOS transistor, Kirchhoff's current/voltage law, and the tool of Mathematica, the PSR with DC gain, poles, and zeros of power stage and six kinds of basic amplifiers in LDO is analyzed theoretically, and proved by the simulation of Cadence Spectre. By tabling the PSR of eight Error Amplifier (EA) composite structures of two stages, the best combination of NMOS differential input amplifier (N-DA) + PMOS input common source amplifier (P-CS) is proposed on account of DC PSR property. An LDO containing an EA of the best structure has been designed with TSMC standard 0.35 mu m CMOS process. The measurement result of PSR is -75 dB @ 1 kHz. A novel guideline to improve PSR of LDO is proposed and it provides afresh design idea. Measurement results are in agreement with the analysis also.

Abstract:This paper deals with the fabrication of an inductorless wideband low-noise amplifier (LNA). The LNA includes two branches in parallel: a common-source (CS) path and a common-gate (CG) path. The CS path is responsible for providing enough power gain, while the CG path is used to achieve the input impedance matching. To eliminate the noise contribution of the CG path, the noise cancellation technique is applied. Therefore, the overall noise figure (NF) is improved. The phase mismatch between the two paths is also quantitatively analyzed to investigate its effect on gain and NF. The analytical results agree well with the simulation results. The LNA has been fabricated by a commercial 0.18-mu m CMOS process. The measurement results show that the LNA has achieved a maximum gain of 14.5 dB with 1.7-GHz 3-dB gain bandwidth and a minimum NF of 3 dB. The tested input 1-dB gain compression point (IP1 dB) is -10.4 dBm at 1 GHz and the input third-order intercept point is 0.25 dBm. With 1.8-V supply, the LNA draws only 6-mA dc current.

Abstract:This study evaluates the immunity of a low-noise amplifier (LNA) using a transient voltage suppressor (TVS) diode under direct current injection high-power microwave (HPM) pulses. The ac behavior of the TVS diode is examined. Both experiments and analysis demonstrate that the injected HPM power to failure of the LNA is increased by a factor of about 6 through the introduction of a TVS diode, the power to failure of the LNA is also related to the proportion of the direct current injected into the TVS diode and LNA. This analysis is useful for further discussion regarding semiconductor protection under HPM pulses.

Abstract:A CMOS low-noise amplifier (LNA) for ultrawideband universal radio is presented. Based on capacitive cross-coupled dual-gm-enhancement topology, the circuit topology could be reconfigured as different versions for single-ended or differential inputs. One possible input/output resonant scheme is analyzed and may help the LNA to exhibit input matching, low noise, and flat gain in an ultra-wide frequency band with relatively low power consumption. Both a differential-input-differential-output and a single-ended-input-differential-output version are fabricated in 0.18 μm CMOS technology. The differential-input version achieves an 11-14 dB S21, ≤ -9 dBS11 within 1.4-11.4 GHz, and a minimum noise figure of 3.9 dB; the single-ended-input version achieves a 5-8 dB S21, ≤ -10 dBS11 among 2.4-11.7 GHz, and a minimum noise figure of 6.3 dB.

Abstract:This paper presents the design of low noise CMOS pre-amplifiers based on photoelectric detection systems, which can directly affect the detecting precision of the whole systems. The design of pre-amplifier circuit from photoelectric detector was introduced. The photoelectric conversion circuit, amplifier circuit bandwidth, amplifier circuit noise, amplifier circuit stabilization and other questions were mainly discussed, and an amplifier circuit capable of effectively decreasing the noise, the temperature drift and a large dynamic range was designed. This paper analyzes the sources of photoelectric detection circuit internal noise, and gives the formulas of internal noise, designs a variable equivalent load photoelectric conversion circuit, and is verified by experiments. Then the result is used to reduce the noise of CMOS based operational amplifiers and finally implement the design work of pre-amp using 0.5μm CMOS Technology.

Abstract:The equivalent circuit models of the photodiode amplifier are introduced ,and the main noise sources are studied .Then the total output noise is analyzed by root mean square (RMS) analysis based on three kinds of noises .Finally ,two improved circuits based on feedback capacitance and composite amplifier are proposed to reduce the noise of circuit .T he calculation and simulation results show that the circuit based on feedback capacitance effectively reduces the extreme of noise gain and the band-width of the signal decreases at the same time ,and the circuit based on composite amplifier effectively reduces the extreme of noise gain while the bandwidth of the signal is hardly affected .

Abstract:This paper introduces a highly linear power amplifier (PA) that utilizes a 2-μm InGaP/GaAs hetero-junction bipolar transistor (HBT) process. As communication systems evolve in complexity, the demands for the linearity and static power consumption of HBT power amplifiers are becoming more stringent. Typically, there exists a trade-off relationship between linearity and static power consumption in the design process. Hence, this paper proposes a novel active bias circuit for HBT power amplifiers, along with its layout design. The proposed active bias circuit consists of a differential pair and a current mirror structure, designed to enhance PA linearity while maintaining low quiescent current. Additionally, a novel layout structure is implemented to achieve thermal coupling between the RF transistors and the active bias, further improving PA linearity. As a result of the implementation of the proposed active bias and layout structure, the PA demonstrates high linearity in both amplitude modulation to phase modulation (AM/PM) and amplitude modulation to amplitude modulation (AM/AM) performance, while simultaneously maintaining a low quiescent current. The three-stage PA prototype achieves notable performance metrics, including a peak gain of 32.6 dB at 5.6 GHz, gain flatness of ±0.5 dB from 5.15 GHz to 5.85 GHz, and P 1dB of 32.1 dBm at a quiescent emitter current of 180 mA.

Abstract:A two stage Class-AB Pre-power amplifier realized with 0.35 μm CMOS 1P6M process with off-chip impedance matching is presented.The circuit consumes 18 mA current under 3.3 V supply.The measured power gain is 10 dB and maximum output power reaches more than 6 dBm to 50 Ω load.Pre-Power Amplifier achieves good linearity of OIP3=(9.4) dBm and OP1dB=0.6 dBm at 1.9 GHz.

Abstract:When isolating the analog signal with the optical coupler,the common problem is that frequency response,input amplitude scope,background noise and linearity can't coordinate well.Through analysis and study on the problem,using modularization combination design,the paper develops a new circuit realizing analog signal high-speed isolation with the high-speed optical coupler 6N136,full differential amplifier THS4151 and instrumental amplifier INA103.The paper emphasizes designing principle and construction.The experiment result demonstrates the circuit works well with-3dB frequency width of 1MHz,input amplitude scope from-5V to 5V,linearity error less than 1%,and peak-peak amplitude of background noise less than 20mV.

Abstract:For the problems of the small signal which travels from the distance and the limited power of acoustic receiver underwater,a kind of design for acoustic general amplifier is presented with low power consumption,high gain amplification and low sensitivity to the errors of passive elements.The electro-circuit system is made up of preamplifier and band-pass filter which comprises four operational amplifiers in series instead of RC low-pass net.This design is applied to possess capabilities that the high gain amplification of small signal and pre-whitening process of sea noise background.The computation of poles of the transfer function shows that the designed amplifier is stable.Sea test proves that the system has merits of high precision,good adaptability,stable performance and low power consumption.

Abstract:A CMOS Hall-based fully integrated isolation amplifier for differential voltage sensing is presented in this work. The design is fabricated in a $0.35 \mu \text{m}$ CMOS process in which the high voltage (HV) side of the amplifier contains a coil driver while the low voltage (LV) side includes a Hall-effect sensor, low-noise amplifier, programmable-gain amplifier, filter, and chopper switches. Another Hall sensor performs the digital isolation using the on-off keying (OOK) technique for clock recovery. The introduced prototype achieves above 120 dB of isolation mode rejection (IMR) at 60 Hz and operates at a continuous isolation working voltage of 0.6 kV. It has also a maximum nonlinearity of 0.64 %, an input-referred offset of 1 mV, a 40 dB full-scale signal-to-noise ratio over a 40 kHz bandwidth, and a spurious-free dynamic range of 64 dB. The silicon area for each of the two separate dices employed for the HV and LV side of the isolation amplifier is 1 mm2 with a power consumption of 7.6 mW and 9.9 mW respectively. The achieved miniaturized size of the isolation components, as well as their significantly low-power consumption, ensure the suitability of the proposed isolation amplifier for multi-channel readout circuit applications.

Abstract:A design of high dynamic range linear radio frequency power detector(PD),aimed for transmitter carrier leakage suppression is presented in this paper.Based on the logarithmic amplifier principle,this detector utilizes the successive detection method to achieve a high dynamic range in the radio frequency band.In order to increase sensitivity,a low noise amplifier(LNA) is placed in the front of this detector.DC coupling is adopted in this architecture to reduce parasitics and save area.but this will unavoidably cause DC offsets in the circuit which are detrimental to the dynamic range.So a DC offset cancelling(DCOC) technique is proposed to solve the problem.Finally,this detector was fabricated in the SMIC 0.13μm CMOS process.The measured results show that it achieves a wide dynamic range of 50 dB/40 dB with log errors in±1 dB at 900 MHz/2 GHz,while draws 16 mA from a 1.5 V power supply.The active chip area is 0.27 x 0.67 mm~2.
