Abstract:In the development of flat panel display techniques and digital image processing techniques, the data processing ability progresses so greatly, and it makes the three-dimensional display (3D display) possible. Recently, the 3D display technique develops so fast, it changes totally the traditional 3D viewing effect and makes 3D display become a possible technique in our daily life. In this paper, the different 3D techniques will be reviewed, and much more focus on the real spatial 3D display techniques, especially the challenges of the high-quality spatial 3D display to the optoelectronics will be analyzed, which will be the sources for the future ideal 3D display technique.

Abstract:Spatial analog optical computing devices possess the capability of high-throughput, real-time and low-energy information processing. Optical metamaterials, which are ultracompact in structure and possess powerful ability to control the light, can be utilized to establish miniatured and integrated spatial analog optical computing devices. The methods of designing the spatial analog optical computing devices could be mainly classified as two kinds-4F system method and Green's function method. The 4F system method requires two Fourier transform lenses and a spatial frequency filter, where the actual computing procedure is performed in the spatial domain. The 4F system is usually bulky and complicated. The Green's function method directly leverages the nonlocal response of the carefully tailored optical materials to implement analog computing procedure in the spatial frequency domain and its structure is compact without extra Fourier transform components. Research advances in spatial analog optical computing devices by using these two methods for the last few years are introduced in this paper. These researches could be classified as differentiators, integrators, equation solvers and spatial frequency filters according to the standard of computing functions. The approaches to designing these devices are further demonstrated. Then, computing devices which could realize spatial analog first-order difference by use of the spin-orbit interaction proposed recently are introduced. Finally, application fields and study prospects of spatial analog optical computing devices are discussed and summarized.

Abstract:Computer Aided Optical System Design is an engineering practice course for undergraduate students in College of Optical Science and Engineering, Zhejiang University. When the students have just completed Applied Optics course in spring-summer semester, they will take the practice course in a short semester in summer vocation. This is a projectbased practice course, including optical software developing and lens design. The teaching idea is not only to improve the students' engineering skills but also to connect different knowledge they have studied, to build a comprehensive knowledge structure, and to develop the team spirit, organizational capability, leadership and communication skills. This course is designed as an engineering project with a contract between the teacher group and every design group of 3 students. In this paper we describe the course program and how to provide a chance to combine different knowledge into a project. In every student group, developing ray trace software of good reliability is the teamwork, and each student will design a photographic lens independently. The lens with the best optical performance will be selected as the team's result, and be drawn into a system diagram and part drawings. The whole process is both competitive and cooperative, and gives the students the experiences of programmers and lens designers. Most of the students appreciated the practice course and named it as "the most memorable short semester".
Research of the Grid Computing System Applied in Optical Simulation

Abstract:A grid computing in the field of optics is presented in this paper. Firstly, the basic principles and research background of grid computing are outlined in this paper, along with the overview of its applications and the development status quo. The paper also discusses several typical tasks scheduling algorithms. Secondly, it focuses on describing a task scheduling of grid computing applied in optical computation. The paper gives details about the task scheduling system, including the task partition, granularity selection and tasks allocation, especially the structure of the system. In addition, some details of communication on grid computing are also illustrated. In this system, the "makespan" and "load balancing" are comprehensively considered. Finally, we build a grid model to test the task scheduling strategy, and the results are analyzed in detail. Compared to one isolated computer, a grid comprised of one server and four processors can shorten the "makespan" to 1/4. At the same time, the experimental results of the simulation also illustrate that the proposed scheduling system is able to balance loads of all processors. In short, the system performs scheduling well in the grid environment.

Abstract:Abstract Visual arts refer to art experienced primarily through vision. 3D visual optical art is one of them. Artists use their rich imagination and experience to combine light and objects to give viewers an unforgettable visual experience. However, the design process involves much trial and error; therefore, it is often very time-consuming. This has prompted many researchers to focus on proposing various algorithms to simplify the complicated design processes and help artists quickly realize the arts in their minds. To help computer graphics researchers interested in creating 3D visual optical art, we first classify and review relevant studies, then extract a general framework for solving 3D visual optical art design problems, and finally propose possible directions for future research.

Abstract:Optical system CAD is a synthetically design course.The course including basic theories and practice of optical system design is suitable for research-oriented teaching.The key of course reform program is introducing research mode.This program includes signing up project,project organization and execution,and project evaluation and discussion.In this course the students complete their design projects in research teams by autonomous group approach and cooperative exploration.In this research process they experience the interpersonal relationship in modern society,the importance of cooperation in team,the functions of each individual,the relationships between team members,the competition and cooperation in one academic group and with other groups,and know themselves objectively.In the design practice the knowledge of some academic fields is applied including applied optics,computer programming,engineering software and etc.The characteristic of interdisciplinary is very useful for academic research and makes the students be ready for innovation by integrating the knowledge of interdisciplinary field.As shown by the practice that this teaching mode has taken very important part in bringing up the abilities of engineering,cooperation,digesting the knowledge at a high level and problem analyzing and solving.

Abstract:: Contents: The Second National Conference On Basic Optics and the Technical Committee Meeting on Basic Optics Held at Jungbo Lake; and The Inhomogeneity of the Optical Thin Film Determined by Real Time Elliptic Polarization Measurement. Abstract: An automatic photometric ellipsometer with rotating-analyzer is used in our vacuum thin film coater. This ellipsometer can measure the polarization of the depositing thin film instantly. The inhomogeneity of the refractive index can be analyzed from the path curve of the polarization parameters. Delta and Psi which vary with the thickness of the thin film. The experimental results show that both Zinc Sulfide and Zinc Selenide have about 100 A of inhomogeneous transition layers at the inner and outer boundaries. In the central region, it has homogeneous refractive index.

Abstract:Metasurface,composed of subwavelength nanostructures,represents a disruptive and emerging technology that enables independent control of optical field characteristics,such as phase,amplitude,polarization,and dispersion.It is of significant importance for wavefront control elements,integrated imaging systems,and wearable optoelectronic devices.Metasurfaces allow for complex simulation calculations of input wave signals at the speed of light,providing a novel approach for constructing ultra-thin,ultra-fast,high-throughput,and highly integrated low-power optical imaging platforms.This article summarizes the recent advancements in optical simulation calculations and advanced imaging based on metasurfaces,discussing the fundamental connection between the two fields.The detailed overview of metasurface applications in these fields is provided,including image processing,edge detection,phase imaging,and integrated imaging systems.Finally,the current challenges facing metasurface optical computing are highlighted,and future directions for development are outlined.

Abstract:Some current states and new advances in the research of the basic theory of thermal-structural-optical(TSO)integrated analysis,and the interface problem of data transmission in mechanical,thermal and optical program are reviewed.It is demonstrated that Zernike polynomial as data transmission tool fitted process: the data manipulation——the displacement data provided by FEA tools must be translated into either a sag-based or wavefront-based coordinate systems. The polynomial fitting——methods of wavefront fitting using Zernike polynomial are described: least square method and Gram-Schmidt orthogonalization method. On these foundations the data transmission interface program can make the TSO process simple and can increase efficiency.
