Abstract:The effects of heat treatment on aluminum anode polarization properties,anti corrosion performance,and alloying elements distribution and microstructure were introduced.It was pointed out that the effect of heat treatment differs from alloying agents and their contents in aluminum anodes.With appropriate heat treatment by controlling treatment conditions,the electrochemical performance of aluminum anodes could be improved,the polarization and self-corrosion could be reduced.

Abstract:A novel Al anode material was prepared by melting and casting with the protection of Ar.The effects of additive elements on performance of Al alloy anode were studied by orthogonal test.The phase structure,morphology and composition distribution of Al alloy were investigated by X-ray diffraction(XRD) analysis,scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and energy dispersive spectroscopy(EDS).The electrochemical and corrosion performances of Al anode were studied by dynamicpotential polarization curves,hydrogen evolution and galvanostatic tests.The results show that Mg is the most dominant element influencing work potential and corrosion current density of Al anode materials.Low content of Mg contribute to negative work potential and low corrosion current density of Al anode.In is the most dominant element influencing the rate of hydrogen evolution and high content of In can reduce the rate of hydrogen evolution.

Abstract:The research progress of high performance hydrogen storage electrode alloys is reported. The contents include the effects of composition of rare earth elements, the impurities (Fe, Si, Mg) and produce techniques (annealing treatment in vacuum and rapid solidification) on the electrochemical properties of AB5 type hydrogen storage alloys, the relationship between the electrochemical properties and the phase structures or composition of AB2 type Zr-based Laves phase alloys. The performances of several new multicomponent Zr-based hydrogen storage electrode alloys are also presented.

Abstract:An Al-Mg-Sn-Hg alloy anode material was developed by orthogonally design to analyze the effects of additive elements on performance of Al alloy anode.Its electrochemical properties in alkaline medium were studied by galvanostatic test and potentiodynamic potential test.The corrosion resistance of Al alloy anode was studied by hydrogen evolution.The effects of additive elements on phase composition and microstructure of Al anode were studied by X-ray diffraction,scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive spectroscopy.The results show that a part of Mg can form the second phase with Sn and Hg,which is the main cause of activating the aluminum at high temperature and large current density.Another part of Mg which solves in aluminum is an important factor to maintain aluminum activate.The stable potential of new developed Al-Mg-Sn-Hg anode is -1.707 V and the rate of hydrogen evolution is 0.38 mL/(cm2·min) at 80 ℃,650 mA/cm2 and 4.5% NaOH.

Abstract:The effect of rolling technology on the microstructure, electrochemical property and anti-corrosion property of Al-Mg-Sn-Bi-Ga-In alloy anode in alkaline solution (80°C, Na2SnO3 + 5mol/L NaOH) has been analyzed according to the chronopotentiometry (E-T curves), hydrogen collection tests and modern microstructure analysis. The results show that when controlling the pass deformation at 40%, with the increase of rolling temperature, both electrochemical activity and anti-corrosion property of Al anode increase first and then decrease. When the rolling temperature is 420°C, the aluminum alloy anode has the most negative electrode potential of about -1.521V (vs.Hg/HgO) and the lowest hydrogen evolution rate of 0.1716mL/ (min•cm2). The optimum comprehensive performance of Al alloy anode has been obtained.

Abstract:Modern examination techniques such as galvanodynamic(E-t curves) method,Tafel curves,SEM and energy spectrum have been applied to analyze the effect of different rolling processes and mixed rare earth on electrochemical properties of Al alloy anodes in alkaline solution(80℃,Na_2SnO_3+ 5 mol/L NaOH).The results showed that in the amount of 40%pass deformation,as the rolling temperature got higher,the open-circuit potential failed,and the anti-corrosion properties and electrochemical activity increased at first and then decreased.At the rolling temperatures of 370℃,with increasing the pass deformation,the open-circuit potential increased and electrochemical activity gradually decreased,at the same time the anti-corrosion properties decreased at first and then increased;At 370℃,by pass deformation for 40%,with increasing the mixed rare earth content,the electrochemical activity gradually decreased and the anti-corrosion properties increased.

With development of human awareness on environmental protection, the authors think that the future emphases on studying anodizing electrolyte fie on developing more kinds of electrolytes, which are friendly on environment and human being and considerably improve corrosion resistance of anodic coatings.

Abstract:Anodizing is an effective method to improve the corrosion resistance of magnesium alloys, and the selected electric parameters have great effects on the properties of anodic coatings. Concepts of some electric parameters such as frequency, duty cycle, current density and final voltage were introduced and the relation between duty cycle and current density was deduced. In addition, the research progress about the effects of electric parameters on coating properties was reviewed. With the wide use of electric technology on anodizing power supply, the development trend of anodizing equipment is the intelligence and higher and higher frequency.
Effect of Annealing on Performance of Al Alloy Anodes Prepared by Different Rolling Technologies

Abstract:Modern examination techniques such as hydrogen evolution testing,galvanodynamic(E-T curves) method,Tafel curves,SEM and EDX were applied to analyze the electrochemical properties of Al alloy anodes treated with different hot rolling pass deformation degrees in alkaline solution(80 ℃,Na2SnO3 + 5 mol/L NaOH).The results showed that after annealing when the pass deformation was 30% and 40%,the activity of Al alloy anode decreased while the anti-corrosion properties improved.When rolling pass deformation was 50%,the segregation phase became fine and uniform distribution,the amount of active elements Sn and In in segregation phase largely reduced,the comprehensive properties of the anode was improved.Under the condition of hot rolling temperature 400 ℃ and pass deformation 40%,the Al alloy anode gained the best performance after annealing at 510 ℃ for 5 h.

Abstract:An efficient process for developing aluminum alloys for alkaline battery anodes is described. The addition of gallium to aluminum eliminates remarkably the anisotropy of aluminum, and thus renders its electrode potential more negative. The uniform distribution of alloying elements is an essential factor for lowering the corrosion rate of the alloy. The accumulation of an alloying element at intergranular boundaries, or the formation of a secondary phase that contains the element, will result in a rise in the corrosion rate of aluminum.

Abstract:To base on the alloy phase electrochemistry theorem,this work investigated the influence of magnesium contents on microstructure and electrochemistry properties of aluminum anodes.Experimental results indicated that the squares of phase Mg5Al8 were increased with Mg contents increasing,and the electrochemistry properties were better than before.When the Mg contents were increased form 1% to 30%,the open potential of Al-Mg anodes was reduced form-0.79 V to-1.18 V in 3.5% NaCl solution,and the polarization rate was also decreased.

Abstract:The effect of pass deformation in hot rolling on the electrochemical property and anti-corrosion property of Al alloy anode in alkaline solution(80 ℃,Na2SnO3+5 mol/L NaOH) was analyzed by hydrogen collection tests,chronopotentiometry(E-T curves) and Tafel curves.TEM,SEM and EDX were employed to analyze the materials microstructure.The results show that the Al alloy anodes undergo the dynamic recrystallization after different pass deformations.With the increase of the pass deformation,the open-circuit potential rises and electrochemical activity gradually drops.Meanwhile,the corrosion current density first decreases and then increases while the anti-corrosion property shows an opposite tendency.When the pass deformation of rolling is 40% at 370 ℃,the Al anode obtains the best performance.

Abstract:The Al-5Zn-0.03In alloy anodes were treated at 510℃ for 10h,and then were cooled by air or water,respectively.A JXA-8800 electron probe microanalyzer and an EDAX quantitative energy dispersive X-ray analyser were used to examine the microstructure of the anodes before and after heat treatment,and electrochemical properties of the anodes were tested.By heat treatment,the solubility of Zn in aluminum is increased and that of Fe and Zn is retained un-change,the quantity of Al-Zn metallic compounds is evidently decreased,the strip precipitates along grain boundaries is broken to spheric shape.With the increasing of Zn content in aluminum matrix and the reducing of Al-Zn metallic compounds precipitated along grain boundaries,the hydrogen evolution corrosion and intergranular corrosion of the aluminum anode are weakened,and it leds to the high current efficiency for aluminum alloy anode.
