Abstract:We prove that for any bounded type irrational number 0 < θ < 1, the boundary of the Siegel disk of f α ( z ) = e 2iθ sin( z ) + α sin 3 ( z ), α ∈ ℂ, which centered at the origin, is a quasicircle passing through 2, 4 or 6 critical points of f α counted with multiplicity.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the dynamical behavior of the family of complex rational maps which is given byfλ(z)=zn(z2n−λn+1)z2n−λ3n−1, where n≥2 and λ∈C⁎−{λ:λ2n−2=1}. This family of rational maps can be seen as a perturbation of the unicritical polynomial z↦zn if λ is small. We prove that the Julia set J(fλ) of fλ is either a quasicircle, a Cantor set of circles, a Sierpiński carpet or a degenerated Sierpiński carpet provided one of the free critical points of fλ is escaping to the origin or to the infinity. In particular, we prove that there exists suitable λ such that the Julia set J(fλ) is a Cantor set of circles, but fλ is not topologically conjugate to any McMullen map on their corresponding Julia sets.

Abstract:Let $\alpha$ be an irrational number of sufficiently high type and suppose $P_\alpha(z)=e^{2\pi i\alpha}z+z^2$ has a Siegel disk $\Delta_\alpha$ centered at the origin. We prove that the boundary of $\Delta_\alpha$ is a Jordan curve, and that it contains the critical point $-e^{2\pi i\alpha}/2$ if and only if $\alpha$ is a Herman number.

Abstract:For the family of quadratic rational functions having a 2-cycle of bounded type Siegel disks, we prove that each of the boundaries of these Siegel disks contains at most one critical point. In the parameter plane, we prove that the locus for which the boundaries of the 2-cycle of Siegel disks contain two critical points is a Jordan curve.

Abstract:In this paper, we develop a method to verify David's integrability condition for certain Beltrami differentials without using Petersen puzzles. Using this method and trans-quasiconformal surgery, we prove that for any David type rotation number, the boundary of the Siegel disk of $f_{\theta}(z) = e^{2 \pi i \theta} \sin (z)$ is a Jordan curve which passes through exactly two critical points $\pi/2$ and $-\pi/2$.

Abstract:Let $f$ be an entire function with the form $f(z)=P(e^z)/e^z$, where $P$ is a polynomial with degree at least $2$ and $P(0)\neq 0$. We prove that the area of the complement of the fast escaping set (hence the Fatou set) of $f$ in a horizontal strip of width $2\pi$ is finite. In particular, the corresponding result can be applied to the sine family $\alpha\sin(z+\beta)$, where $\alpha\neq 0$ and $\beta\in\mathbb{C}$.

Abstract:In this article, the trajectories of meromorphic quadratic differentials whose coefficients are Schwarzian derivatives of rational maps are studied. We conjecture that the graphs consisting of the so-called negative-real critical Schwarzian trajectories are finite for all rational maps of degree at least two. For any given rational map f, we construct a family of parabolic rational maps {g(w)}(w) having a parabolic fixed point at the non-critical point w of f. If w is a zero of the Schwarzian S-f, we prove that the orientations of the negative-real critical trajectories of S-f(z)dz(2) landing at w coincide with the attracting directions of g(w) at w. The critical curve in every immediate parabolic basin of w is an arc starting at w along the attracting direction and ending at a critical point of f, which is a pole of S-f. We conduct some numerical experiments to compare the critical curves in the immediate parabolic basins with the negative-real critical Schwarzian trajectories, which support our conjecture.

Abstract:For any irrational $\alpha > 0$ and any initial value $z_{-1} \in \mathbb{C}$, we define a sequence of complex numbers $(z_n)_{n=0}^{\infty}$ as follows: $z_n$ is $z_{n-1} + e^{2 \pi i \alpha n}$ or $z_{n-1} - e^{2 \pi i \alpha n}$, whichever has the smaller absolute value. If both numbers have the same absolute value, the sequence terminates at $z_{n-1}$ but this happens rarely. This dynamical system has astonishingly intricate behavior: the choice of signs in $z_{n-1} \pm e^{2 \pi i \alpha n}$ appears to eventually become periodic (though the period can be large). We prove that if one observes periodic signs for a sufficiently long time (depending on $z_{-1}, \alpha$), the signs remain periodic for all time. The surprising complexity of the system is illustrated through examples.

Abstract:Under conjugation by affine transformations, the dynamical moduli space of cubic polynomials $f$ with a $2$-cycle of Siegel disks is parameterized by a three-punctured complex plane as a degree-$2$ cover. Assuming the rotation number of $f^2$ on the Siegel disk is of bounded type, we show that on the three-punctured complex plane, the locus of the cubic polynomials with both finite critical points on the boundaries of the Siegel disks on the $2$-cycle is comprised of two arcs, corresponding to the cases with two critical points on the boundary of the same Siegel disk, and a Jordan curve, corresponding to the cases with two critical points on the boundaries of different Siegel disks.

Abstract:Hyperbolic geometry plays an important role within function theory of the disk. For example, via the Schwarz-Pick Lemma, the isometries of the unit disk $\mathbb D$ with respect to this geometry are the conformal self-maps of $\mathbb D$. In this elementary classroom note, we are interested in the collection of the pseudohyperbolic disks $D_\rho(x,r)$ (with fixed radius $r$ and variable hyperbolic centers $-1<x<1$) and determine explicitely with function theoretic tools the enveloppe of these disks.

Abstract:In this paper we explore a class of quadratic polynomials having Siegel disks with unbounded type rotation numbers. We prove that any boundary point of Siegel disks of these polynomials is a Lebesgue density point of their filled-in Julia sets, which generalizes the corresponding result of McMullen for bounded type rotation numbers. As an application, this result can help us construct more quadratic Julia sets with positive area. Moreover, we also explore the canonical candidate model for quasiconformal surgery of quadratic polynomials with Siegel disks. We prove that for any irrational rotation number, any boundary point of ``Siegel disk'' of the canonical candidate model is a Lebesgue density point of its ``filled-in Julia set'', in particular the critical point $1$ is a measurable deep point of the ``filled-in Julia set''.

Abstract:In this work we prove that an entire function $f(z)$ has only negative zeros if and only if its order is strictly less $1$, its root sequence is real-part dominating and there exists an nonnegative integer $m$ the real function $\left(-\frac{1}{x}\right)^{m}\frac{d^{k}}{dx^{k}}\left(x^{k+m}\frac{d^{m}}{dx^{m}}\left(\frac{f'(x)}{f(x)}\right)\right)$ are completely monotonic on $(0,\infty)$ for all nonnegative integer $k$. As an application we state a necessary and sufficient condition for the Riemann hypothesis and generalized Riemann hypothesis for a primitive Dirichlet character.
