Abstract:Let $S\subseteq \mathbb N^p$ be a semigroup, any $P\subseteq S$ is an ideal of $S$ if $P+S\subseteq P$, and an $I(S)$-semigroup is the affine semigroup $P\cup \{0\}$, with $P$ an ideal of $S$. We characterise the $I(S)$-semigroups and the ones that also are $\mathcal C$-semigroups. Moreover, some algorithms are provided to compute all the $I(S)$-semigroups satisfying some properties. From a family of ideals of $S$, we introduce the affine semigroups with maximal embedding dimension, characterising them and describing some families.

Abstract:The purpose of this paper is to study the generalization of inverse semigroups (without order). An ordered semigroup S is called an inverse ordered semigroup if for every a 2 S, any two inverses of a are H-related. We prove that an ordered semigroup is complete semilattice of t-simple ordered semigroups if and only if it is completely regular and inverse. Furthermore characterizations of inverse ordered semigroups have been characterized by their ordered idempotents.

Abstract:An element e of an ordered semigroup $(S,\cdot,\leq)$ is called an ordered idempotent if $e\leq e^2$. We call an ordered semigroup $S$ idempotent ordered semigroup if every element of $S$ is an ordered idempotent. Every idempotent semigroup is a complete semilattice of rectangular idempotent semigroups and in this way we arrive to many other important classes of idempotent ordered semigroups.

The set of all partial transformations in which are fence-preserving as well as parity-preserving forms a submonoid of . We describe Green's relations and ideals of . Abstract:We study algebraic properties of the semigroup $\mathscr{O\!\!I\!}_n(L)$ of finite partial order isomorphisms of the rank $\leq n$ of an infinite linearly ordered set $(L,\leqslant)$. In particular we describe its idempotents, the natural partial order and Green's relations on $\mathscr{O\!\!I\!}_n(L)$. It is proved that the semigroup $\mathscr{O\!\!I\!}_n(L)$ is stable and it contains tight ideal series. Moreover, we show that the semigroup $\mathscr{O\!\!I\!}_n(L)$ admits only Rees' congruences and every its homomorphic image is a semigroup with tight ideal series.

Abstract:Let G be a finite group, and let (P(G); +, o) be the near-ring of all unary polynomial functions on G. We describe the maximal ideals of this near-ring. Our approach also allows us to determine the maximal congruences of the composition algebra of polynomial functions on a finite Σ-group. We apply these results to find the maximal ideals of a finite near-ring with 1 that is faithful on its constants. In some occasions, the intersection of the maximal ideals yields an ideal that has properties that are similar to nilpotency.

Abstract:Sufficient conditions are obtained under which the semigroup ring of a semigroup, in particular, of an inverse semigroup, is weakly regular. For some inverse semigroups and some orthodox semigroups, the necessary and sufficient conditions for the weak regularity of the semigroup rings are found. A problem is mentioned especially which is much more difficult for weak regularity than for regularity. Only a partial solution of this problem is given for weak regularity.

Abstract:In this paper, the author studies the regularity of Munn rings and completely 0-simple semigroup rings. When either (i)R is a ring with identity andI and Λ are infinite, or (ii)R is a strong IBN and fully Dedekind-finite ring with identity and eitherI or Λ is finite, in Section 2, the regularity of the Munn ringM(R; I, Λ; P) is characterized; in Section 3, for a completely 0-simple semigroupS =M°(G; I, Λ; P), the regularity ofRS is characterized. Meantime, the author shows that for a locally finite monoidS and a ringR with identity,RS is a strong IBN ring if and only ifR is so;RS is fully Dedekind-finite if and only ifR is so.

Abstract:An ordered semiring is a commutative semiring equipped with a compatible preorder. Ordered semirings generalise both distributive lattices and commutative rings, and provide a convenient framework to unify certain aspects of lattice theory and ring theory. The ideals of an ordered semiring $A$ form a commutative integral quantale $\mathrm{Idl}(A)$, and similarly, the radical ideals of $A$ form a (spatial) frame $\mathrm{Rad}(A)$. We characterise $\mathrm{Idl}$ and $\mathrm{Rad}$ as the left adjoints of the (non-full) inclusion functors from the categories of commutative integral quantales and of frames, respectively, to that of ordered semirings and subadditive morphisms between them. The (sober) topological space $\mathrm{pt}(\mathrm{Rad}(A))$ corresponding to $\mathrm{Rad}(A)$ is homeomorphic to the space $\mathrm{Spec}(A)$ of prime ideals of $A$.

Abstract:A family of subsets $\mathcal{F} \subseteq \mathcal{P}(\{1, 2, \ldots, n\})$ has the disparate union property if any two disjoint subfamilies $\mathcal{F}_1, \mathcal{F}_2 \subseteq \mathcal{F}$ have distinct unions $\bigcup \mathcal{F}_1 \neq \bigcup \mathcal{F}_2$; what is the maximal size of a family with the disparate union property? Is there a simple and efficiently computable characterization of size-maximal families? This paper highlights a class of partially-ordered semirings -- difference ordered semirings with a multiplicatively absorbing element -- and shows it is common and easily constructed. We prove that a suitably modified definition of linear independence for semimodules over such semirings enjoys the same maximality property as for vector spaces, and can furthermore be efficiently detected by the bideterminant. These properties allow us to extend dimension argument in extremal combinatorics and provide simple and direct solutions to the puzzles above.

Abstract:In this paper,a special kind of partial algebras called projective partial groupoids is defined.It is proved that the inverse image of all projections of a fundamental weak regular * -semigroup underthe homomorphism induced by the maximum idempotent-separating congruence of a weak regular * -semigroup has a projective partial groupoid structure.Moreover,a weak regular * -product whichconnects a fundamental weak regular * -semigroup with corresponding projective partial groupoid isdefined and characterized.It is finally proved that every weak regular * -product is in fact a weakregular * -semigroup and any weak regular * -semigroup is constructed in this way.
One-sided identity and zero sets in semigroups; maximal subsemigroups of certain types

Abstract:We extend the definition of a one-sided identity and a one-sided zero with respect to an entire set with a binary operation to subsets of a set with a binary operation. Given a set $S$ with a binary operation and a subset $A$ of $S$, $lidentity(A)$ is the set of all $b \in S$ such that $ba=a$ for all $a \in A$. There is a similar definition for $ridentity(A)$. Also given a set $S$ with a binary operation and a subset $A$ of $S$, $lzero(A)$ is the set of all $b \in S$ such that $ba=b$ for all $a \in A$. There is a similar definition for $rzero(A)$. In any semigroup or groupoid, every one-sided identity or zero is an idempotent, and every idempotent is a one-sided identity or zero for some subsemigroup or subgroupoid. In particular, every one-sided identity or zero of a maximal subsemigroup of a specific type is an idempotent, and every idempotent is a one-sided identity or zero for some maximal subsemigroup of a specific type. These types include groups, left [right] zero semigroups, and left [right] groups. It has been shown that every idempotent of a semigroup is the identity of a maximal subgroup of that semigroup. We show that every idempotent of a semigroup exists in a maximal left [right] zero subsemigroup. For each idempotent of a semigroup, we describe all rectangular band subsemigroups containing that idempotent. We also show that every idempotent of a semigroup exists in a maximal right [left] subgroup.

Abstract:The aim of this study is to develop the theory of prime ideals in ordered semigroups. First, to ensure the existence of prime ideals, we study a class of ordered semigroups which will be denoted by S I P . And then we introduce the hull-kernel topology for the prime ideals P ( S ) and the topological properties like separation axioms, compactness and connectedness are studied. Finally, we focus on the subspace M ( S , I ) , minimal prime ideals containing the ideal I in an ordered semigroup S . We investigate topological properties of this subspace and connections between this subspace and the ordered semigroup S .

Optimal Bounds on the Growth of Iterated Sumsets in Abelian Semigroups

Abstract:We provide optimal upper bounds on the growth of iterated sumsets $hA=A+\dots+A$ for finite subsets $A$ of abelian semigroups. More precisely, we show that the new upper bounds recently derived from Macaulay's theorem in commutative algebra are best possible, i.e., are actually reached by suitable subsets of suitable abelian semigroups. Our constructions, in a multiplicative setting, are based on certain specific monomial ideals in polynomial algebras and on their deformation into appropriate binomial ideals via Gröbner bases.
