Abstract:Bi-difference sets generalize pseudo-difference sets and D-sets. Bi-difference sets automatically have an order relation if they are weaked slightly. As an application of the partially order relation, we present a characteristic of ideals in the weaked bi-difference sets. If a certain condition is satisfied then a bi-difference set becomes the union of monoids.

For each ideal of , we characterize the maximal subsemigroups. We observe that there are three different types of maximal subsemigroups.

Abstract:Let be an inclusion of -algebras. We study the relationship between the regular ideals of B and regular ideals of A . We show that if is a regular -inclusion and there is a faithful invariant conditional expectation from A onto B , then there is an isomorphism between the lattice of regular ideals of A and invariant regular ideals of B . We study properties of inclusions preserved under quotients by regular ideals. This includes showing that if is a Cartan inclusion and J is a regular ideal in A , then is a Cartan subalgebra of A / J . We provide a description of regular ideals in the reduced crossed product of a C -algebra by a discrete group.

A generalized theory of ideals and algebraic substructures

Abstract:In 2011, a topic containing the concepts of upper and lower periodic subsets of (basic) algebraic structures was introduced and studied. The concept of ``upper periodic subsets'' can be considered as a generalized topic of ideals and sub-structures (e.g., subgroups, sub-semigroups, sub-magmas, sub-rings, etc.). Hence, it can be improved to a theory in every algebraic structure which extends many basic concepts including the ideals. This paper follows the mentioned goals and studies related to algebraic and topological aspects. For this purpose, first, we state an improved fundamental theorem about the unique direct representation of left upper periodic subsets and then introduce some extensions and generalizations. As a result of the study, we classify sub-semigroups and subgroups of real numbers and introduce some related topics and concenterable upper periodic subsets. We end the study with many research projects and some future directions of the theory.

Abstract:We consider ideals in a polynomial ring generated by collections of power sum polynomials, and obtain conditions under which these define complete intersection rings, normal domains, and unique factorization domains. We also settle a key case of a conjecture of Conca, Krattenthaler, and Watanabe, and prove other results in that direction.

Abstract:A monoid is called special if it admits a presentation in which all defining relations are of the form . Every group is special, but not every monoid is special. In this article, we describe the language-theoretic properties of the word problem, in the sense of Duncan and Gilman, for special monoids in terms of their group of units. We prove that a special monoid has context-free word problem if and only if its group of units is virtually free, giving a full generalisation of the Muller-Schupp theorem. This fully answers, for the class of special monoids, a question posed by Duncan and Gilman (Math Proc Camb Philos Soc 136:513–524, 2004). We describe the congruence classes of words in a special monoid, and prove that these have the same language-theoretic properties as the word problem. This answers a question first posed by Zhang (Math Proc Camb Philos Soc 112:495–505, 1992). As a corollary, we prove that it is decidable (in polynomial time) whether a special one-relation monoid has context-free word problem. This completely answers another question from 1992, also posed by Zhang.

Abstract:Let $H$ be a monoid (written multiplicatively). We call $H$ Archimedean if, for all $a, b \in H$ such that $b$ is a non-unit, there is an integer $k \ge 1$ with $b^k \in HaH$; strongly Archimedean if, for each $a \in H$, there is an integer $k \ge 1$ such that $HaH$ contains any product of any $k$ non-units of $H$; and duo if $aH = Ha$ for all $a \in H$. We prove that the ideals of two strongly Archimedean, cancellative, duo monoids make up isomorphic semigroups under the induced operation of setwise multiplication if and only if the monoids themselves are isomorphic up to units; and the same holds upon restriction to finitely generated ideals in Archimedean, cancellative, duo monoids. Then we use the previous results to tackle a new case of a problem of Tamura and Shafer from the late 1960s.

On the Internal Sum of Puiseux Monoids

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the internal (finite) sum of submonoids of rank-$1$ torsion-free abelian groups. These submonoids, when not groups, are isomorphic to nontrivial submonoids of the nonnegative cone of $\mathbb Q$, known as Puiseux monoids, and have been actively studied during the last few years. Here we study how the atomicity and arithmetic of Puiseux monoids behave under their internal (finite) sum inside the abelian group $\mathbb Q$. We study the factorization properties of such internal sums, giving priority to Cohn's notion of atomicity and the classical bounded and finite factorization properties introduced and studied in 1990 by Anderson, Anderson, and Zafrullah in the setting of integral domains, and then generalized by Halter-Koch to commutative monoids. We pay special attention to how each of the considered properties behaves under the internal sum of a Puiseux monoid with a finitely generated Puiseux monoid. Throughout the paper, we also discuss examples showing that our primary results do not hold for submonoids of torsion-free abelian groups with rank larger than $1$.

Abstract:We consider the general question of how the homological finiteness property left-FPn(resp. right-FPn) holding in a monoid influences, and conversely depends on, the property holding in the substructures of that monoid. This is done by giving methods for constructing free resolutions of substructures from free resolutions of their containing monoids, and vice versa. In particular, we show that left-FPn is inherited by the maximal subgroups in a completely simple minimal ideal, in the case that the minimal ideal has finitely many left ideals. For completely simple semigroups, we prove the converse, and as a corollary, show that a completely simple semigroup is of type left- and right-FPn if and only if it has finitely many left and right ideals and all of its maximal subgroups are of type FPn. Also, given an ideal of a monoid, we show that if the ideal has a two-sided identity element then the containing monoid is of type left-FPn if and only if the ideal is of type left-FPn. Applying this result, we obtain necessary and sufficient conditions for a Clifford monoid (and more generally a strong semilattice of monoids) to be of type left-FPn. Examples are provided showing that for each of the results all of the hypotheses are necessary.

On semisubtractive ideals of semirings

Abstract:Our aim in this paper is to explore semisubtractive ideals of semirings. We prove that they form a complete modular lattice. We introduce Golan closures and prove some of their basic properties. We explore the relations between $Q$-ideals and semisubtractive ideals of semirings, and also study them in $s$-local semirings. We introduce two subclasses of semisubtractive ideals: $s$-strongly irreducible and $s$-irreducible, and provide various representation theorems. By endowing a topology on the set of semisubtractive ideals, we prove that the space is $T_0$, sober, connected, and quasi-compact. We also briefly study continuous maps between semisubtractive spaces. We construct $s$-congruences and prove a bijection between these congruences and semisubtractive ideals.

Abstract:We define a notion of ideal for objects in the category of abstract unitary Cuntz semigroups introduced in [3] and termed Cu$^\sim$. We show that the set of ideals of a Cu$^\sim$-semigroup has a complete lattice structure. In fact, we prove that for any C$^*$-algebra of stable rank one $A$, the assignment $I\longmapsto$Cu$_1(I)$ defines a complete lattice isomorphism between the set of ideals of $A$ and the set of ideals of its unitary Cuntz semigroup Cu$_1(A)$. Further, we introduce a notion of quotients and exactness for the (non abelian) category Cu$^\sim$. We show that Cu$_1(A)/$Cu$_1(I)\simeq$ Cu$_1(A/I)$ for any ideal $I$ in $A$ and that the functor Cu$_1$ is exact. Finally, we link a Cu$^\sim$-semigroup with the Cu-semigroup of its positive elements and the abelian group of its maximal elements in a split-exact sequence. This result allows us to extract additional information that lies within the unitary Cuntz semigroup of a C$^*$-algebra of stable rank one.

Abstract:We develop the theory of central ideals on commutative rings. We introduce and study the central seminormalization of a ring in another one. This seminormalization is related to the theory of regulous functions on real algebraic varieties. We provide a construction of the central seminormalization by a decomposition theorem in elementary central gluings. The existence of a central seminormalization is established in the affine case and for real schemes.

Abstract:Factoring ideals in integral domains is a central topic in multiplicative ideal theory. In the present paper we study monoids of ideals and consider factorizations of ideals into multiplicatively irreducible ideals. The focus is on the monoid of nonzero divisorial ideals and on the monoid of $v$-invertible divisorial ideals in weakly Krull Mori domains. Under suitable algebraic finiteness conditions we establish arithmetical finiteness results, in particular for the monotone catenary degree and for the structure of sets of lengths and of their unions.

Abstract:In the present paper, we aim to classify monomial ideals whose all matching powers are Cohen-Macaulay. We especially focus our attention on edge ideals. The Cohen-Macaulayness of the last matching power of an edge ideal is characterized, providing an algebraic analogue of the famous Tutte theorem regarding graphs having a perfect matching. For chordal graphs, very well-covered graphs and Cameron-Walker graphs, we completely solve our problem.

Abstract:As a natural extension of the ongoing development of a theory of ideals in commutative quantales with an identity element, this article aims to study into the analysis of certain topological properties exhibited by distinguished classes of ideals. These ideals are equipped with quantale topologies. The primary objectives encompass characterizing quantale spaces exhibiting sobriety, examining several conditions pertaining to quasi-compactness, and demonstrating that quantale spaces comprised of proper ideals adhere to the spectral properties as defined by Hochster. We introduce the notion of a strongly disconnected spaces and show that for a quantale with zero Jacobson radical, strongly disconnected quantale spaces containing all maximal ideals of the quantale imply existence of non-trivial idempotent elements in the quantale. Additionally, a sufficient criterion for establishing the connectedness of a quantale space is presented. Finally, we discuss on continuous maps between quantale spaces.
