Abstract:The purpose of this note is to study some algebraic properties of irreducible ideals of monoids. We establish relations between irreducible, prime, and semiprime ideals. We explore some properties of irreducible ideals in local, Noetherian, and Laskerian monoids.

Abstract:Factoring ideals in integral domains is a central topic in multiplicative ideal theory. In the present paper we study monoids of ideals and consider factorizations of ideals into multiplicatively irreducible ideals. The focus is on the monoid of nonzero divisorial ideals and on the monoid of $v$-invertible divisorial ideals in weakly Krull Mori domains. Under suitable algebraic finiteness conditions we establish arithmetical finiteness results, in particular for the monotone catenary degree and for the structure of sets of lengths and of their unions.

Abstract:In our earlier article~\cite{CanSakran} we initiated a study of the complement-finite submonoids of the group of integer points of a unipotent linear algebraic group. In the present article, we continue to develop tools and techniques for analyzing our monoids. In particular, we initiate a theory of ideals for unipotent numerical monoids.

Abstract:In this article we first compare the set of elements in the socle of an ideal of a polynomial algebra over a field K that are not in the ideal itself with Macaulay's inverse systems of such polynomial algebras in a purely combinatorial way for monomial ideals, and then develop some closure operational properties for the related poset . We then derive some algebraic propositions of -graded rings (a natural generalization of the usual -grading where is a monoid) that then have some combinatorial consequences. Interestingly, some of the results from this part that uniformly hold for polynomial rings are always false when the ring is local. We finally delve into some direct computations, in relation to a given term order of the monomials, for general zero-dimensional Gorenstein ideals, and we deduce a few explicit observations and results for the inverse systems from some recent results about socles.

Abstract:For an integral domain $R$ and a commutative cancellative monoid $M$, the ring consisting of all polynomial expressions with coefficients in $R$ and exponents in $M$ is called the monoid ring of $M$ over $R$. An integral domain is called atomic if every nonzero nonunit element can be written as a product of irreducibles. In the investigation of the atomicity of integral domains, the building blocks are the irreducible elements. Thus, tools to prove irreducibility are crucial to study atomicity. In the first part of this paper, we extend Gauss's Lemma and Eisenstein's Criterion from polynomial rings to monoid rings. An integral domain $R$ is called half-factorial (or an HFD) if any two factorizations of a nonzero nonunit element of $R$ have the same number of irreducible elements (counting repetitions). In the second part of this paper, we determine which monoid algebras with nonnegative rational exponents are Dedekind domains, Euclidean domains, PIDs, UFDs, and HFDs. As a side result, we characterize the submonoids of $(\mathbb{Q}_{\ge 0},+)$ satisfying a dual notion of half-factoriality known as other-half-factoriality.

Abstract:The aim of these notes is to study some of the structural aspects of the ring of arithmetical functions. We prove that this ring is neither Noetherian nor Artinian. Furthermore, we construct various types of prime ideals. We show arithmetic ring has infinite Krull dimension and its associated prime ideal set is nonempty.

Abstract:Primary and strongly primary monoids and domains play a central role in the ideal and factorization theory of commutative monoids and domains. It is well-known that primary monoids satisfying the ascending chain condition on divisorial ideals (e.g., numerical monoids) are strongly primary; and the multiplicative monoid of non-zero elements of a one-dimensional local domain is primary and it is strongly primary if the domain is Noetherian. In the present paper, we focus on the study of additive submonoids of the non-negative rationals, called Puiseux monoids. It is easy to see that Puiseux monoids are primary monoids, and we provide conditions ensuring that they are strongly primary. Then we study local and global tameness of strongly primary Puiseux monoids; most notably, we establish an algebraic characterization of when a Puiseux monoid is globally tame. Moreover, we obtain a result on the structure of sets of lengths of all locally tame strongly primary monoids.

Abstract:Taking a ring-theoretic perspective as our motivation, the main aim of this series is to establish a comprehensive theory of ideals in commutative quantales with an identity element. This particular article focuses on an examination of several key properties related to ideals in quantale, including prime, semiprime, radical, primary, irreducible, and strongly irreducible ideals. Furthermore, we investigate the primary decomposition problem for quantale ideals. In conclusion, we present a set of future directions for further exploration, serving as a natural continuation of this article.

Abstract:Factorizations of monoids are studied. Two necessary and sufficient conditions in terms of so-called descent 1-cocyles for a monoid to be factorized through two submonoids are found. A full classification of those factorizations of a monoid whose one factor is a subgroup of the monoid is obtained. The relationship between monoid factorizations and non-abelian cohomology of monoids is analyzed. Some applications to semi-direct product of monoids are given.

On semisubtractive ideals of semirings

Abstract:Our aim in this paper is to explore semisubtractive ideals of semirings. We prove that they form a complete modular lattice. We introduce Golan closures and prove some of their basic properties. We explore the relations between $Q$-ideals and semisubtractive ideals of semirings, and also study them in $s$-local semirings. We introduce two subclasses of semisubtractive ideals: $s$-strongly irreducible and $s$-irreducible, and provide various representation theorems. By endowing a topology on the set of semisubtractive ideals, we prove that the space is $T_0$, sober, connected, and quasi-compact. We also briefly study continuous maps between semisubtractive spaces. We construct $s$-congruences and prove a bijection between these congruences and semisubtractive ideals.

Abstract:The aim of this series of papers is to study z -ideals of semirings. In this article, we introduce some distinguished classes of z -ideals of semirings, which include z -prime, z -semiprime, z -irreducible, and z -strongly irreducible ideals and study some of their properties. Using a z -closure operator, we show the equivalence of these classes of ideals with the corresponding z -ideals that are prime, semirprime, irreducible, and strongly irreducible respectively.

Abstract:Let $H$ be a monoid (written multiplicatively). We call $H$ Archimedean if, for all $a, b \in H$ such that $b$ is a non-unit, there is an integer $k \ge 1$ with $b^k \in HaH$; strongly Archimedean if, for each $a \in H$, there is an integer $k \ge 1$ such that $HaH$ contains any product of any $k$ non-units of $H$; and duo if $aH = Ha$ for all $a \in H$. We prove that the ideals of two strongly Archimedean, cancellative, duo monoids make up isomorphic semigroups under the induced operation of setwise multiplication if and only if the monoids themselves are isomorphic up to units; and the same holds upon restriction to finitely generated ideals in Archimedean, cancellative, duo monoids. Then we use the previous results to tackle a new case of a problem of Tamura and Shafer from the late 1960s.

Abstract:We develop the theory of central ideals on commutative rings. We introduce and study the central seminormalization of a ring in another one. This seminormalization is related to the theory of regulous functions on real algebraic varieties. We provide a construction of the central seminormalization by a decomposition theorem in elementary central gluings. The existence of a central seminormalization is established in the affine case and for real schemes.

Abstract:Let $S$ and $\mathcal{C}$ be affine semigroups in $\mathbb{N}^d$ such that $S\subseteq \mathcal{C}$. We provide a characterization for the set $\mathcal{C}\setminus S$ to be finite, together with a procedure and computational tools to check whether such a set is finite and, if so, compute its elements. As a consequence of this result, we provide a characterization for an ideal $I$ of an affine semigroup $S$ so that $S\setminus I$ is a finite set. If so, we provide some procedures to compute the set $S\setminus I$.
