Abstract:During the tunnel construction, the soil loss and construction methods cause the soil deformation around the tunnel. The existed constructions and pipes are terribly affected by soil deformation. Hence, the significant studying on the soil displacement is implemented during tunneling construction. On the background of Hangzhou Metro Linel, the in-site monitoring is implemented to find the discipline of the soil deformation development. The numerical method is applied to simulate the tunneling process, and the results meet the discipline of monitoring data. The conclusions are consulted for soil deformation prediction during the tunnel construction.

Abstract:Tunnel construction as a typical geotechnical engineering, compared with other civil engineering, has the characteristics of high uncertainty, which brings great challenges to the early design, middle construction and late operation. The so-called tunnel information construction is mainly based on advanced geological prediction, monitoring and measurement data and other information, combined with the actual geological description in the excavation process, timely decision-making on the site, rapid change of construction methods, or adjustment of support structure, in order to adapt to changes in geological conditions, so as to achieve dynamic feedback construction. Because of the advantages of tunnel information construction in modern tunnel construction, and there are many successful cases at home and abroad, it is necessary to have a systematic understanding of it. Based on the above background, the research status and successful cases of tunnel informatization construction at home and abroad are summarized. Principles and Application of a Smart Tunnel Laser Convergence Gauge for Monitoring Tunnel Crown Settlement

Abstract:Monitoring tunnel crown settlement is a way to evaluate the stability of surrounding rock during tunnel construction and to ensure tunnel construction safety.However,it is difficult to operate a grade rod for the precise leveling instrument and it is quite intense work.Though total station trigonometric leveling can be accurate to a mil-limeter,it is not often applied in engineering.In order to improve the efficiency of crown settlement monitoring in tunnels,non-contact measurement using a smart tunnel laser convergence gauge to monitor tunnel crown settlement is proposed, and the monitoring steps are briefly introduced in this paper. Through theory analysis, the repeated monitoring and measuring tests both in the laboratory and onsite indicate that the precision of crown settlement monitoring using the smart tunnel laser convergence gauge can reach 0.70 mm.Compared with results from a DS05 percussive leveling instrument and a Leica TS15 total station on the construction sites of a cavern project in the Qin-dao and the Dangjinshan tunnel on the Dunge railway,the monitoring accuracy and stability of the smart tunnel la-ser convergence gauge are verified. The application prospects are vast using the smart tunnel laser convergence gauge to measure and monitor tunnel crown settlement thanks to its reliable precision, high efficiency, minimized construction disturbance and ability to simultaneously monitor peripheral convergence.

Abstract:To solve the construction ventilation problem of super long (length greater than 10000 m) tunnel passing through discrete lenticular gas bag tunnel under complex working conditions in carbonaceous shale stratum, relying on the construction of Banzhulin tunnel of the new Xuyong-Bijie Railway (Sichuan-Yunnan). Using the finite element analysis software, the flow field distribution of the tunnel return air flow in the case of simultaneous excavation of multiple working faces is simulated, and the formation position and influence range of the vortex area which is easy to form gas accumulation are analyzed. On this basis, the technical team developed the PLC uninterruptible self starting ventilation power supply control program. By comparing the changes in the time required for ventilation power supply failure before and after the adoption of this technology, and the comparison of the gas concentration in the return air flow within a relatively short time of the failure, it is proved that this technology reduces the fault response time to 15.74% of the original time, and can well avoid gas accumulation within the failure time, It provides some reference for similar engineering construction.

Abstract:The long-term uneven settlement may cause the pipe structure cracking, leakage or even serious damage during the operation of the immersed tunnel. Settlement control measures of immersed tunnel were generalized from design-construction-operation three stages as the time order, and the control measures in the construction stage was particular emphasized. Abstract:In order to study the process of construction mechanics under different excavation methods, a large-scale model test system is developed. Its maximum external dimensions is 5.2 m wide, 4.5 m high, and 2.7 m thick. It has the features of stressing definite, reasonable structure. It can be disassembled and combined at will. Automatic hydraulic control system has the features of high pressure, long pressure holding time, steady loading and loading in gradient, etc. Various 3D and 2D geomechanical model tests of underground engineering can be satisfied. On the basis of the existing geomechanics similar material, a material ratio was attained for soft rock by a large number of different material ratios with their mechanical parameters being tested. Large scale 3D geomechanical model test about construction process of railway tunnel was developed. The changing mechanical process was simulated truthfully. Test results show that the test system is stable and reliable, and can be widely used for geomechanical model test in other underground engineering; research methods, techniques and the results make certain guiding significance to the practical engineering.

Abstract:The emergence of BIM technology has provided powerful technical means for realizing informatization and digitization in the field of engineering construction, which remarkably promotes the transformation and advance of production and management modes in engineering construction. Presently, the application and development of BIM technology in the field of engineering construction has become increasingly mature, yet in the field of tunnel engineering, the application of BIM technology is still in its infancy. Under such a circumstance, this paper first puts forward the basic hardware and software configuration requirements for BIM technology in tunnel engineering, and elaborates the basic structure of the BIM technology implementation team from eight respects. Second, this paper elaborates the general principles and the basic process of BIM technology application in tunnel engineering. Third, the paper proposes the initial construction scheme of the tunnel engineering collaborative management platform based on BIM technology, and analyzes the feasibility of platform development deeply. Last, the BIM technology is applied to two projects including Tunnel 1 in Yinxi Railway Huanxian County and Tianjin Metro Line 6, which provides auxiliary technical means for solving practical engineering problems, and provides some reference for subsequent application researches of BIM-like technologies in tunnel engineering.

Abstract:The development status of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies,the development trend of intelligent engineering machines and the urgent national needs for the future intelligent TBMs are introduced briefly.It is pointed out that the intelligentization will be the hot spot of the tunnel engineering area and the focuses of future industry competition.The scientific challenges due to the complexity of the working environment,including state recognition and environment perception,correlation law between geological environment and operation parameters,intelligent planning and coordinated control of multi systems,are raised.In addition,the existing research foundation are analyzed and the inadequacy of the theory including environment and state perception,adaptive & dynamic control of construction parameters,multi system coordination control and multi-objective optimization are obtained.At last,some thinking from the aspects of design,manufacture and operation,such as excavation perception,the adaptive dynamic control of excavation parameter condition,the excavation parameter data collection and calculation,intelligent optimization and decision-making of tunneling parameters and the multi-system coordination intelligent control are proposed.

Abstract:Conventional connecting passages construction usually uses mining method with freezing or grouting method of reinforcement, generally has a long construction period, high construction risk, costly problems, which has an urgent need for a mechanical way of construction technology to improve the speed and quality of construction. The critical technologies for the mechanical construction of connecting passages mainly include the design of the main tunnel and the connecting-passage segment, TBM fully enclosed launching and receiving, the waterproof design, and the design of the built-in pump chamber of the TBM. Its construction process mainly includes TBM assembly, sleeve installation, breaking of the tunnel door, the tunnel boring, the machine receiving, and the fabrication of the tunnel door seal. Based on the above vital technologies analysis, this paper demonstrates the significant advantages of the mechanical construction of the connecting passage with practical construction cases, which provides an essential reference for the subsequent research.

Abstract:Due to limited land resources, there are more and more tunnel projects around the world, such as subways, mountain tunnels, undersea tunnels and high-speed railway tunnels. Being independent of their purpose, such underground construction environment is sinister and complex. With the long-time use of tunnels, it is necessary to detect and diagnose quality defects to avoid accidents, such as geological environment, lining cavity, concrete strength, lining thickness, seepage water, section deformation, crack and so on. This paper provides a comprehensive overview of geological exploration before the completion of tunnels, the analysis and control of quality defects during the structure construction as well as the continuous monitoring and diagnosis of tunnel faults after establishment. Finally, challenges and future tunnel inspection directions are discussed.

Abstract:As the available space on the city’s ground gradually decreases and traffic congestion occurs frequently, it is urgent to develop underground space and vigorously develop tunnel traffic. However, there is currently no suitable method for virtual construction simulation of tunnels. It constructs a measurement crib based to BIM technology platform, and has cross-tested and applied to the geometric model of tunnel construction tecniques. This paper shows that the experimental test results suggest that the algorithm proposed in this is able to quickly and to efficiently solve the problem of collision detection efficiency in quantitative global and local detection in the virtual simulation space, which is also very helpful to improve the execution speed of large large-scale projects. This paper combined with the virtual construction algorithm based on the tunnel segment assembly proposed in this paper, proposed a BIM-based tunnel parameterization design method, which achieved the goal of fast and accurate tunnel parameterization design. Based on the integrated technology of BIM modeling and engineering calculation, this paper analyzes the influence of construction parameters on the additional response of underground pipelines and strata caused by tunnel construction. The results show that the support pressure has a greater effect on the settlement of the underground pipeline and the surface, and the support force of the palm face has a greater effect on the forward bulge. When the tunnel is parallel, the maximum shear stress in front of the excavation face increases with the support pressure Increase, the rear decreases as the support pressure increases.

Abstract:Research purposes: The blasting vibration velocity was monitored and the monitoring data was analyzed for blasting the tunnel of the connecting line of the Kiaochow Bay Undersea Tunnel under-passing the building group in order to ensure the structure safety of the building group on the ground,and summary was also made on the blasting control technology for providing the preference to the similar projects. Research conclusions: The practice of construction showed the blasting control technology of advanced small pilot tunnel and sequential excavation used for the construction of shallow large span tunnel under-passing the building group was feasible to protect the safety of building group on the ground.The blasting monitored data showed that the largest blasting vibration velocity and main vibration frequency were in the allowable range,and the blasting parameters were reasonable.Application of the triple composite cutting method could improve the blasting efficiency,control the maximum charge per interval,reduce the blasting vibration velocity and benefit the protection of the buildings on the ground.

Tunnelling and Underground Space Technology

Abstract:In recent years, with the rapid increase of urban subway lines, crossing engineering has become another complex problem of modern tunnel construction techniques, and especially ultra-short distance up-crossing engineering has attracted wide attention. Based on the project of the new large-span tunnel ultra-short distance up-crossing the existing shield tunnel with oblique angle, deformation and mechanical space–time effect of existing shield tunnel was carried out in the present work, and the micro deformation control techniques of the " bench pile + large-diameter pipe roof + cable" combined bearing-reinforcement system was proposed. Firstly, the key construction techniques in this project were introduced, and the vertical deformation law of the ground surface, the arch foot and the ballast bed of the existing tunnel was researched. Then, by comparing with the field measured results, the accuracy of the numerical model was verified, and the overall deformation, internal forces and torsion behavior of the existing tunnels induced by the construction of new tunnel were obtained. Finally, the effect of technical measures to control the deformation of the existing shield tunnel was analyzed in detail. The results showed that the micro deformation control techniques of " bench pile + large-diameter pipe roof + cable " proposed in this paper can effectively control the deformation of existing shield tunnel, which provides a new deformation control system for similar projects.
