CeO2-Nanopolyeder, Eu2O3-Nanoscheiben und Pr2O3-Nanoplättchen bilden geordnete 2D-Strukturen auf Kupfernetzen (siehe Bild); bei den beiden zuerst genannten Materialien führen Modifikationen der Oberfläche zu interessanten optischen Eigenschaften.
