Abstract:Electrospinning is a very effective method to fabricate nanofibers. This technique has been achieved more attention due to its cheap cost, simple device and obtaining nanofibers similar to extracellular matrix.Silk fibroin(SF) is a natural protein with good biodegradability and low immunogenicity, Therefore, it can be widely applied in tissue engineering. In this paper, we summarize the research of electrospun silk fibrion nanofibers in regenerative medicine. Furthermore, the future research work of SF nanofibers was suggested.

Abstract:Functional nonwoven products have superiority such as quick mass-production, short processing time, wide sources for raw material, low cost and high output etc. They have been widely studied and promoted in advanced countries. However, comparing with selvedge processing, they brings considerable burden to environment. So in this paper, we chose low cost polyester (LPE) and low melting point fiber (LMPE) respectively blending by 50 wt% through the process of mixing, blowing, carding, laying, and needle punching etc. to form nonwoven fabric in which the needle density was adjusted. Finally it is found that 103 needles/cm2 was optimal after mechanical testing. And then different proportions of PP selvedges were placed in the middle of two optimal nonwoven layers by sandwich structure, and mechanical properties of PET/LMPET/PP fabric produced after thermo bonding and cooling was tested. According to the optimal production evaluation for functionality, these products may apply to reinforced interlayer in general protective clothing, protective glove, reinforcement in simple building structure and stiffening geotextiles in the future.

Abstract:Many natural fibers are lightweight and display remarkable strength and toughness. These properties originate from the fibers’ hierarchical structures, assembled from the molecular to macroscopic scale. The natural spinning systems that produce such fibers are highly energy efficient, inspiring researchers to mimic these processes to realize robust artificial spinning. Significant developments have been achieved in recent years toward the preparation of high-performance bio-based fibers. Beyond excellent mechanical properties, bio-based fibers can be functionalized with a series of new features, thus expanding their sophisticated applications in smart textiles, electronic sensors, and biomedical engineering. Here, recent progress in the construction of bio-based fibers is outlined. Various bioinspired spinning methods, strengthening strategies for mechanically strong fibers, and the diverse applications of these fibers are discussed. Moreover, challenges in reproducing the mechanical performance of natural systems and understanding their dynamic spinning process are presented. Finally, a perspective on the development of biological fibers is given.

Abstract:Journal of Industrial Textiles, Volume 53, Issue , January-December 2023. The pollution caused by petroleum-based waste has motivated the development of ecologically friendly bio-based materials. Natural fibers are becoming increasingly popular as a renewable and biodegradable resource. In this study, we prepared a kapok/waste silk nonwoven (KSN) by wet-laid and hot-pressing, which had adequate mechanical strength, hydrophilic, lipophilic, and biodegradable properties. The effects of the kapok fiber proportion on the morphology, air permeability, softness, mechanical property, wettability, and biodegradability of KSN were studied. The results demonstrated that the thickness, porosity, air permeability, and softness decreased as the proportion of kapok fiber increased. The mechanical property was significantly enhanced, and the breaking strength increased from 0.58 MPa to 10.85 MPa. With the increase in the proportion of kapok fiber, the spreading time of oil and water increased and decreased respectively, and the static contact angles were below 50°. Degradation rate improved with the increase of kapok fiber proportion, with a maximum degradation rate of 49.41% (30 days). Therefore, the multifunctional, low-cost, easily prepared, and biodegradable kapok/waste silk nonwovens is a promising bio-based material with superior application prospects in dressings, facial mask substrate, packaging, and related fields.

Abstract:In this paper, the tested methods, the used standard and the composition etc. of Maifan stone fiber are introduced, a series of basic properties are tested, and the relationship between Maifan stone Fiber structure and properties has been dealt with, a series of basic data of physical and chemical characteristics of the fiber is given. It is pointed that Maifan stone fiber is one kind of new-type functional fiber, which has good moisture absorption behavior, good permeability, natural micro organism resistance, excellent dyeing properties, higher dye-fixing percentage, better biological activity etc. When developing new type products, we must lay stress on its excellent properties, and develop the new-type product that displays the good properties of Maifan stone fiber.

Abstract:Melt blown polymer blends offers a good way to combine two polymers in the same fiber generating nonwovens with new and novel properties. In this study, polypropylene (PP) and polyurethane (PU) were blended to prepare PP/PU bicomponent melt blown nonwovens. The spinnability of PP/PU composites was investigated and PP/PU bi-component nonwovens with compositions of 95/5, 90/10, 80/20 and 70/30 were prepared by using the melt blowing technique. The melt blown fibers exhibited a sea-island' structure with PP as the continuous phase and PU as the dispersed phase. When the content of PU in the blend was above 40 %, PP/PU melt blown nonwovens could not be produced due to fiber breaking. For PP/PU (90/10) nonwovens, it was found that the average fiber diameter decreased with increasing die to collector (DCD) and elevated hot air pressure.

Abstract:As a new type of porous metals, fiber metal porous materials were applied for filtration and separation, sound absorption, enhanced heat and mass transfer. The application performances of porous metal fiber materials depend on its pore structure characteristics. The webbing is the first step of porous metal fiber materials fabrication, which determines the pore structure. Air-laid is the most common method to metal fiber webbing, the fibers disperse, suspend and sediment to metal fiber felt with pore structure with air flow. At present, the research on process of metal fiber air-laid is far from mature. Metal fiber porous material cannot be prepared for effective guidance practice. This paper reviewed the research on the fiber movement and sedimentation in the flow field to provide reference for subsequent in-depth study.

According to processing test, it is found that the fiber has good performance such as lofty, high strength, good anti-pilling tendency, fine antistatic property and nice heat insulating ability. Abstract:Potential applications of nanofibers as a new-generation of material will be realized if suitable nanofiber yarns become available. Electrospinning has been widely accepted as a feasible technique for the fabrication of continuous nanofiber yarns. However its low output limited its industrial applications. This paper presents a new processing approach to fabrication of fascinated nanofiber yarns which possess excellent properties of nanofibers while enhancing its mechanical strength by the core yarn.

Abstract:Electrospun porous nanofibers have gained a lot of interest recently in various fields because of their adjustable porous structure, high specific surface area, and large number of active sites, which can further enhance the performance of materials. This paper provides an overview of the common polymers, preparation, and applications of electrospun porous nanofibers. Firstly, the polymers commonly used to construct porous structures and the main pore-forming methods in porous nanofibers by electrospinning, namely the template method and phase separation method, are introduced. Secondly, recent applications of electrospun porous nanofibers in air purification, water treatment, energy storage, biomedicine, food packaging, sensor, sound and wave absorption, flame retardant, and heat insulation are reviewed. Finally, the challenges and possible research directions for the future study of electrospun porous nanofibers are discussed.
