Abstract:In this paper we establish some explicit congruences for Euler polynomials modulo a general positive integer. As a consequence, if a, m is an element of Z and 2 inverted iota m then m(k+1)/2 E-k (x+a/m) - (-1)(a)/2 E-k(x) is an element of Z[x] for every k = 0,1,2,..., which may be regarded as a refinement of a multiplication formula.

Abstract:Symmetric functions show up in several areas of mathematics including enumerative combinatorics and representation theory. Tewodros Amdeberhan conjectures equalities of $\Sigma_n$ characters sums over a new set called $Ev(\lambda)$. When investigating the alternating sum of characters for $Ev(\lambda)$ written in terms of the inner product of Schur functions and power sum symmetric functions, we found an equality between the alternating sum of power sum symmetric polynomials and a product of monomial symmetric polynomials. As a consequence, a special case of an alternating sum of $\Sigma_n$ characters over the set $Ev(\lambda)$ equals $0$.

Abstract:In recent years, symmetry properties of the Bernoulli polynomials and the Euler polynomials have been studied by a large group of mathematicians (He and Wang in Discrete Dyn. Nat. Soc. 2012:927953, 2012, Kim et al. in J. Differ. Equ. Appl. 14:1267-1277, 2008; Abstr. Appl. Anal. 2008, doi:11.1155/2008/914347, Yang et al. in Discrete Math. 308:550-554, 2008; J. Math. Res. Expo. 30:457-464, 2010). Luo (Integral Transforms Spec. Funct. 20:377-391, 2009), introduced the lambda-multiple power sum and proved the multiplication formulas for the Apostol-Bernoulli and Apostol-Euler polynomials of higher order. Ozarslan (Comput. Math. Appl. 2011:2452-2462, 2011), Lu and Srivastava (Comput. Math. Abstract:In this paper, we perform a further investigation on the Apostol–Bernoulli and Apostol–Euler functions introduced by Luo. By using the Fourier expansions of the Apostol–Bernoulli and Apostol–Euler polynomials, we establish some symmetric identities for the Apostol–Bernoulli and Apostol–Euler functions. As applications, some known results, for example, Raabe’s multiplication formula and Hermite’s identity, are deduced as special cases.

Abstract:In this paper, we seek to present some new identities for the elementary symmetric polynomials and use these identities to construct new explicit formulas for the Legendre polynomials. First, we shed light on the variable nature of elementary symmetric polynomials in terms of repetition and additive inverse by listing the results related to these. Sequentially, we have proven an important formula for the Legendre polynomials, in which the exponent moves one walk instead of twice as known. The importance of this formula appears throughout presenting Vieta's formula for the Legendre polynomials in terms of their zeros and the results mentioned therein. We provide new identities for the elementary symmetric polynomials of the zeros of the Legendre polynomials. Finally, we propose the relationship between elementary symmetric polynomials for the zeros of P n x and the zeros of P n − 1 x .
