Abstract:In this talk we give a survey of results and methods on some combinatorial sums involving binomial coefficients and related to Bernoulli and Euler polynomials. We will also talk about certain sums of minima and maxima related to Dedekind sums. Some interesting identities associated with the various sums will also be introduced. 1. Abstract:An integer-valued polynomial $P(x,y,z)$ is said to be universal (over $\mathbb Z$) if each nonnegative integer can be written as $P(x,y,z)$ with $x,y,z\in\mathbb Z$. In this paper, we mainly introduce a new technique to determine the universality of some sums in the form $x(a_1x+a_2)/2+y(b_1y+b_2)/2+z(c_1z+c_2)/2$ (with $a_1-a_2,b_1-b_2,c_1-c_2$ all even) conjectured by Sun, using various identities of Ramanujan's theta functions. For example, we prove that $x(3x+1)+y(3y+2)+2z(3z+2)$ and $x(4x+r)+y(3y+1)/2+z(7z+1)/2\ (r=1,3)$ are universal.

Abstract:We prove and generalize several recent conjectures of Z.-W. Sun surrounding binomial coefficients and harmonic numbers. We show that Sun's series and their analogs can be represented as cyclotomic multiple zeta values of levels $N\in\{4,8,12,16,24\}$, namely Goncharov's multiple polylogarithms evaluated at $N$-th roots of unity.

Abstract:Let [Formula: see text] be a positive integer, and define [Formula: see text] for [Formula: see text], where [Formula: see text] denotes the number of distinct prime factors of [Formula: see text], and [Formula: see text] represents the total number of prime factors of [Formula: see text] (counted with multiplicity). In this paper, we study these two zeta functions and related arithmetical functions. We show that [Formula: see text] which is similar to the known identity [Formula: see text] equivalent to the Prime Number Theorem. For [Formula: see text], we prove that [Formula: see text] We also raise a hypothesis on the parities of [Formula: see text] which implies the Riemann Hypothesis.

Abstract:In 1997 K. Ono and K. Soundararajan [Invent. Math. 130(1997)] proved that under the generalized Riemann hypothesis any positive odd integer greater than 2719 can be represented by the famous Ramanujan form x(2) + y(2) + 10z(2); equivalently the form 2x(2) + 5y(2) + 4T(z) represents all integers greater than 1359, where T(z) denotes the triangular number z(z + 1)/2. Given positive integers a, b, c we employ modular forms and the theory of quadratic forms to determine completely when the general form ax(2) + by(2) + cT(z) represents sufficiently large integers and to establish similar results for the forms ax(2) + bT(y) + cT(z) and aT(x) + bT(y) + cT(z). Here are some consequences of our main theorems: (i) All sufficiently large odd numbers have the form 2ax(2) + y(2) + z(2) if and only if all prime divisors of a are congruent to 1 modulo (ii) The form ax(2) + y(2) + T(z) is almost universal (i.e., it represents sufficiently large integers) if and only if each odd prime divisor of a is congruent to 1 or 3 modulo 8. (iii) ax(2) + T(y) + T(z) is almost universal if and only if all odd prime divisors of a are congruent to 1 modulo 4. (iv) When v(2)(a) not equal 3, the form aT(x) + T(y) + T(z) is almost universal if and only if all odd prime divisors of a are congruent to 1 modulo 4 and v(2)(a) not equal 5, 7,..., where v(2)(a) is the 2-adic order of a.

Abstract:In this paper we study some conjectures on determinants with Jacobi symbol entries posed by Z.-W. Sun. For any positive integer n≡3(mod4), we show that(6,1)n=[6,1]n=(3,2)n=[3,2]n=0 and(4,2)n=(8,8)n=(3,3)n=(21,112)n=0 as conjectured by Sun, where(c,d)n=|(i2+cij+dj2n)|1≤i,j≤n−1 and[c,d]n=|(i2+cij+dj2n)|0≤i,j≤n−1 with (⋅n) the Jacobi symbol. We also prove that (10,9)p=0 for any prime p≡5(mod12), and [5,5]p=0 for any prime p≡13,17(mod20), which were also conjectured by Sun. Our proofs involve character sums over finite fields.

Abstract:We present a summation rule using the Mellin transform to give short proofs of some important classical relations between special functions and Bernoulli and Euler polynomials. Abstract:In 1913 A. Fleck proved that if p is a prime, and n > 0 and r are integers then ∑ k≡r (mod p) (n k ) (−1) ≡ 0 ( mod pb(n−1)/(p−1)c ) . Only recently the significance of Fleck’s congruence was realized. It plays a fundamental role in Colmez’ and Wan’s investigation of the ψ-operator related to Fontaine’s theory and p-adic Langlands correspondence. In this talk we give a survey of the recent developments of Fleck’s congruence and its various extensions, as well as some important applications to Stirling numbers of the second kind and homotopy exponents of special unitary groups given by Davis and the speaker. Abstract:Let $p$ be an odd prime. In the paper, by using the properties of Legendre polynomials we prove some congruences for $\sum_{k=0}^{\frac{p-1}2}\binom{2k}k^2m^{-k}\mod {p^2}$. In particular, we confirm several conjectures of Z.W. Sun. We also pose 13 conjectures on supercongruences.
