Abstract:Statement of problem: Three-dimensional printing has introduced new manufacturing methods. However, information on the influence of the specific printing technology, material, sterilization, and the comparison between printing and milling on the accuracy of surgical guides is lacking. Purpose: The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate the influence of the manufacturing method (printing and milling), printing technology stereolithography (SLA) and digital light processing (DLP), material, and sterilization on the accuracy of digitally designed surgical implant guides. Material and methods: Resin patient replicas with a single edentulous space were used to place 132 implants with digitally designed surgical guides. The accuracy of postoperative implant position was analyzed for the manufacturing method (printing and milling), resin materials, and preoperative autoclaving. To determine 3D accuracy, angular displacement, mean horizontal crestal, apical displacement, and the linear vertical displacement at the apex were calculated separately for each group (n=12). In addition, the surgical guides were qualitatively analyzed by using field emission scanning electron micrograph. Results: The postoperative angular deviation ranged from 0.76 ±0.52 degrees (Rapidshape D20II with NextDent SG) to 2.43 ±0.64 degrees (Form2 with NextDent SG) (P<.001). Linear horizontal displacement at the crest was smallest for Rapidshape D20II with 3Delta Guide (0.27 ±0.08 mm) and highest for Form2 with NextDent SG (0.54 ±0.10 mm) (P<.001). Linear horizontal displacement at the apex ranged from 0.36 ±0.10 mm (SolFlex 350 with V-Print SG) to 0.89 ±0.32 mm (Form2 with NextDent SG) (P<.001). Considering the vertical position displacement was no more than 0.43 ±0.07 mm (Form2 with NextDent SG) short of the apex, none of the implant tips were displaced apically. Preoperative autoclaving differentially impaired the accuracy of surgical guides. Conclusions: The specific manufacturing technique, the 3D printing device, the resin material, and the application of preoperative sterilization all affected the accuracy of the postoperative implant position. Irrespective of the manufacturing method, all implants were placed within the commonly accepted safety distance.

Abstract:Summary Many studies have identified regions within human ventral visual stream to be important for object identification and categorization; however, knowledge of how perceptual information is communicated within the visual network is still limited. Current theories posit that if a high correspondence between incoming sensory information and internal representations exists, then the object is rapidly identified, and if there is not, then the object requires extra detailed processing. Event-related responses from the present magnetoencephalography study showed two main effects. The N1m peak latencies were approximately 15 milliseconds earlier to familiar letters than to unfamiliar pseudoletters, and the N2m was more negative to pseudoletters than to letters. Event-related beamforming analyses identified these effects to be within bilateral visual cortices with a right lateralization for the N2m effect. Furthermore, functional connectivity analyses revealed that gamma-band (50–80 Hz) oscillatory phase synchronizations among occipital regions were greater to letters than to pseudoletters (around 85 milliseconds). However, during a later time interval between 245 and 375 milliseconds, pseudoletters elicited greater gamma-band phase synchronizations among a more distributed occipital network than did letters. These findings indicate that familiar object processing begins by at least 85 milliseconds, which could represent an initial match to an internal template. In addition, unfamiliar object processing persisted longer than that for familiar objects, which could reflect greater attention to inexperienced objects to determine their identity and/or to consolidate a new template to aid in future identification.

Abstract:3D printed surgical guides are used for prosthetically-driven oral implant placement. When manufacturing these guides, information regarding suitable printing techniques and materials as well as the necessity for additional, non-printed stock parts such as metal sleeves is scarce. The aim of the investigation was to determine the accuracy of a surgical workflow for oral implant placement using guides manufactured by means of fused deposition modeling (FDM) from a biodegradable and sterilizable biopolymer filament. Furthermore, the potential benefit of metal sleeve inserts should be assessed. A surgical guide was designed for the installation of two implants in the region of the second premolar (SP) and second molar (SM) in a mandibular typodont model. For two additive manufacturing techniques (stereolithography [SLA]: reference group, FDM: observational group) n = 10 surgical guides, with (S) and without (NS) metal sleeves, were used. This resulted in 4 groups of 10 samples each (SLA-S/NS, FDM-S/NS). Target and real implant positions were superimposed and compared using a dedicated software. Sagittal, transversal, and vertical discrepancies at the level of the implant shoulder, apex and regarding the main axis were determined. MANOVA with posthoc Tukey tests were performed for statistical analyses. Placed implants showed sagittal and transversal discrepancies of <1 mm, vertical discrepancies of <0.6 mm, and axial deviations of ≤3°. In the vertical dimension, no differences between the four groups were measured (p ≤ 0.054). In the sagittal dimension, SLA groups showed decreased deviations in the implant shoulder region compared to FDM (p ≤ 0.033), whereas no differences in the transversal dimension between the groups were measured (p ≤ 0.054). The use of metal sleeves did not affect axial, vertical, and sagittal accuracy, but resulted in increased transversal deviations (p = 0.001). Regarding accuracy, biopolymer-based surgical guides manufactured by means of FDM present similar accuracy than SLA. Cytotoxicity tests are necessary to confirm their biocompatibility in the oral environment.

Abstract:Different printing technologies can be used for prosthetically oriented implant placement, however the influence of different printing orientations and steam sterilization remains unclear. In particular, no data is available for the novel technology Continuous Liquid Interface Production. The objective was to evaluate the dimensional accuracy of surgical guides manufactured with different printing techniques in vertical and horizontal printing orientation before and after steam sterilization. A total of 80 surgical guides were manufactured by means of continuous liquid interface production (CLIP; material: Keyguide, Keyprint), digital light processing (DLP; material: Luxaprint Ortho, DMG), stereolithography (SLA; Surgical guide, Formlabs), and fused filament fabrication (FFF; material: Clear Base Support, Arfona) in vertical and horizontal printing orientation (n = 10 per subgroup). Spheres were included in the design to determine the coordinates of 17 reference points. Each specimen was digitized with a laboratory scanner after additive manufacturing (AM) and after steam sterilization (134 °C). To determine the accuracy, root mean square values (RMS) were calculated and coordinates of the reference points were recorded. Based on the measured coordinates, deviations of the reference points and relevant distances were calculated. Paired t-tests and one-way ANOVA were applied for statistical analysis (significance p 0.05). Regarding reference points and distances, CLIP showed larger deviations compared to SLA in both printing orientations after steam sterilization, while DLP manufactured guides were the most dimensionally stable. In conclusion, the different printing technologies and orientations had little effect on the manufacturing accuracy of the surgical guides before sterilization. However, after sterilization, FFF surgical guides exhibited significant deformation making their clinical use impossible. CLIP showed larger deformations due to steam sterilization than the other photopolymerizing techniques, however, discrepancies may be considered within the range of clinical acceptance. The influence on the implant position remains to be evaluated.

Comparative evaluation of accuracy of implants placed with thermoplastic and three-dimensional-printed surgical guides: A randomized controlled trial

Abstract:Background: The current study was planned to evaluate the accuracy of dental implant placement with two different types of surgical guides: Thermoplastic and three-dimensional (3D) printed. Materials and methods: A total of 32 implants were placed in 20 healthy, partially dentate individuals with an isolated single missing tooth. The implant sites were randomly allocated into two treatment groups: Group A (thermoplastic implant surgical guide, n = 16 implants) and Group B (3D printed implant surgical guide, n = 16 implants). All the cases in both groups were digitally planned according to a defined protocol, and a comparison of the planned and actual implant positions was performed using the medical image analysis software. The differences in the outcome variables, i.e., angular deviation (AD), 3D error at the entry, 3D error at the apex (3D EA), vertical deviation (VD), and composite deviation, were statistically analyzed. Results: All the outcome variables showed improvements, but statistically significant improvement was shown by AD (P = 0.005), 3D EA (P = 0.01), and VD (P = 0.007). The mean and standard deviation (SD) for AD, (3D EA), and VD were 5.58° ±1.93°, 0.96 ± 0.32 mm, and 0.58 ± 0.36 mm, respectively, for group A. The mean and SD for AD, (3D EA), and VD were 3.94° ± 0.64°, 0.64 ± 0.35 mm, and 0.29 ± 0.13 mm, respectively, for group B (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Within the limits of the study, dental implants placed using 3D-printed surgical guides were positioned clinically with greater accuracy, and fewer deviations were observed from their presurgical planned positions as compared to the thermoplastic surgical guides.

Abstract:Background: With the rise of new 3D printers, assessing accuracy is crucial for obtaining the best results in patient care. Previous studies have shown that the highest accuracy is achieved with SLS printing technology; however, SLA printing technology has made significant improvements in recent years. Methods: In this study, a realistic anatomical model of a mandible and skull, a cutting guide for mandibular osteotomy, and a splint for orthognathic surgery were replicated five times each using two different 3D printing technologies: SLA and SLS. Results: The SLA group had a median trueness RMS value of 0.148 mm and a precision RMS value of 0.117 mm. The SLS group had a median trueness RMS value of 0.144 mm and a precision RMS value of 0.096 mm. There was no statistically significant difference in RMS values between SLS and SLA technologies regarding trueness. Regarding precision, however, the RMS values for SLS technology were significantly lower in the splint and cutting guide applications than those printed with SLA technology. Conclusions: Both 3D printing technologies produce modern models and applications with equally high dimensional accuracy. Considering current cost pressures experienced by hospitals, the lower-cost SLA 3D printer is a reliable choice for point-of-care 3D printing.

Accuracy of a Chairside, Fused Deposition Modeling Three-Dimensional-printed, Single Tooth Surgical Guide for Implant Placement: A Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial

Abstract:Purpose To compare the accuracy of chairside, fused deposition modeling (FDM) three-dimensional (3D)-printed surgical guides with that of stereolithographic guides for implant placement in single edentulous sites within a clinical setting. Materials and Methods A total of 28 participants with 30 single posterior edentulous sites were included. The sites were randomized into a FDM 3D-printed surgical guide group (test) or stereolithographic guide group (control) of equal size (n = 15). In both groups, digital implant planning was performed using data from cone beam-computed tomography and intraoral scans. The test group's surgical guides were fabricated using a chairside, FDM 3D-printer; those in the control group were fabricated using a light-curing 3D-printer. Postoperative intraoral scans were used to obtain the 3D position of the implants. Compared to preoperative design, the angular, 3D, mesiodistal, buccolingual and apicocoronal deviations at the implant shoulder and apex were recorded. Results The workflow for the design and chairside fabrication of implant guides was established. The mean angular deviations of the test and control group were (4.23 +/- 2.38) degrees and (4.13 +/- 2.42) degrees (p > .05), respectively. The respective 3D deviations at the implant shoulder were (0.70 +/- 0.44) mm and (0.55 +/- 0.27) mm (p > .05); those at the implant apex were (1.25 +/- 0.61) mm and (1.11 +/- 0.54) mm (p > .05). The mesiodistal, buccolingual, and apicocoronal deviations at the implant shoulder and apex did not significantly differ between the groups (p > .05). Conclusions Implants for single posterior edentulous spaces were placed as accurately with the test guide as with the control. Further research under more complex situations involving multiple missing teeth is needed.
Accuracy of template‐based guided dental implant placement—An in vitro comparison of different manufacturing methods

Abstract:Objectives This study investigates effects of surgical guide manufacturing process on 3D transfer accuracy of planned dental implant position, using three production methods: additive 3D‐printed (3DF), subtractive milled (MF), and analog laboratory fabricated templates (LF). Material and Methods Implant position for a single‐tooth gap (#26) planned digitally. 3DF and MF templates were designed digitally, while LF templates were analogously created. For each manufacturing type, 10 surgical guides were fabricated. Each guide was used for template‐guided implant placement in model replicas. For evaluation of implant placement, cone beam computed tomography scans of all implanted models were superimposed, and implant positions were determined. Deviations at implant shoulder/apex were measured, and median and inter‐quartile range (IQR) were determined for mesio‐distal, oro‐facial, coronal apico, 3D spaces, and angles. Results At implant shoulder, vertical components dominated position deviations (up to 1.04 mm, IQR 0.28 mm for 3DF). Horizontal deviations were much lower (mesio‐distally up to 0.38 mm, IQR 0.36 mm (LF)). Implant apex shows similar vertical deviations, while horizontal deviations clearly increased compared to shoulder, especially in mesio‐distal direction. Median angular deviations were between 2.1° (IQR 2.0 mm, max. 4.2°) for 3DF and 3.3° (IQR 1.9 mm, max. 5.3°) for MF. No statistical differences were found between manufacturing types (Kruskal–Wallis test, p = .05). Conclusions The study showed the method of implant guide fabrication did not affect the accuracy of implant placement within the limits of an in vitro environment. All methods resulted in implant placement which did not exceed the accepted safety deviation envelope (1.5–2.0 mm).

Abstract:Three-dimensional printed surgical guides increase the precision of orthodontic mini-implant placement. The purpose of this research was to investigate the effects of disinfection and of two types of autoclave sterilization on the mechanical properties of 3D printed surgical guides obtained via the SLA (stereolithography) and DLP (digital light processing) printing methods. A total of 96 standard specimens (48 SLA and 48 DLP) were printed to analyze the tensile and flexural properties of the materials. A total of 80 surgical guide (40 SLA and 40 DLP) specimens from each printing method were classified into four groups: CG (control group); G1, disinfected with 4% Gigasept (Gigasept Instru AF; Schülke & Mayer Gmbh, Norderstedt, Germany); G2, autoclave-sterilized (121 °C); and G3, autoclave-sterilized (134 °C). Significant differences in the maximum compressive load were determined between the groups comprising the DLP-(p < 0.001) and the SLA- (p < 0.001) printed surgical guides. Groups G2 (p = 0.001) and G3 (p = 0.029) showed significant parameter modifications compared with the CG. Disinfection with 4% Gigasept (Gigasept Instru AF; Schülke & Mayer Gmbh, Norderstedt, Germany) is suitable both for SLA- and DLP-printed surgical guides. Heat sterilization at both 121 °C and 134 °C modified the mechanical properties of the surgical guides.

Influence of the three-dimensional printing technique and printing layer thickness on model accuracy

Abstract:Objective: The accuracies of three-dimensional (3D) printed dental models using various digital light processing (DLP) and stereolithography (SLA) printers at different thicknesses were compared. Materials and methods: Based on digital dental models (originally digitized using R700; 3Shape, Copenhagen, Denmark), physical dental models were printed using three types of DLP printers: (1) EvoDent (UnionTec, Shanghai, China) with layer thicknesses of 50 μm and 100 μm; (2) EncaDent (Encashape, WuXi, China) with layer thicknesses of 20, 30, 50 and 100 μm; (3) Vida HD (Envisioned, Dearborn, MI, USA) with layer thicknesses of 50 and 100 μm. Models with the SLA printer Form 2 (Formlabs, Somerville, MA, USA) were printed with layer thicknesses of 25, 50 and 100 μm. All 22 printed models were converted to digital dental models using a D2000 model scanner (3 Shape, Copenhagen, Denmark) and compared three-dimensionally to the source files using Geomagic Qualify 12.0 (3D Systems, Rock Hill, SC, USA). Results: The printing accuracy of all printers was higher at 50 μm. When the layer thickness was set at 100 μm, the printing speed and printing accuracy of DLP printer were both superior to those of the SLA printer. In all groups, the EvoDent 50 μm group had the highest consistency with the source files (mean absolute deviation of 0.0233 mm in the maxilla and 0.0301 mm in the mandible). While the accuracy of Form 2 100 μm group was the lowest (mean absolute deviation of 0.0511 mm in the maxilla and 0.0570 mm in the mandible). Conclusion: For the 3D printers studied, 50 μm was the optimum layer thickness for DLP technology, and the printing accuracy using SLA technology increased with decreasing layer thickness. The DLP technology also had higher printing accuracy at a layer thickness of 100 μm. EvoDent 50 μm had the highest and Form 2 100 μm the lowest printing accuracy.
Effect of 3D printer, implant analog and angulation on the accuracy of analog position in implant casts

Abstract:Objectives: To evaluate the accumulative effect of 3D printer, implant analog systems, and implant angulation on the accuracy of analog position in implant casts. Methods: A reference cast, presenting a case of a three-unit implant-supported prosthesis, was scanned with a coordinate measurement machine, producing the first reference data set (CMM, n = 1). The second reference data set (n = 10) was prepared using an intraoral scanner (IOS) (Trios4). Test quadrant casts were produced using three DLP type 3D printers, Max (MAX UV385), Pro (PRO 4K65 UV), and Nex (NextDent 5100), and three implant analog systems, El (Elos), Nt (Nt-trading), and St (Straumann) (n = 90). Stone casts were also produced via analog impressions (Stone, n = 10). After digitization, the accuracy of 3D distance, local angulation (angle between implants) and global angulation (angle between the implant center axis and an axis perpendicular to the global plane) was evaluated by comparing the reference (CMM, IOS), test (3D print), and control (Stone) groups using metrology software. Data were statistically analyzed using three-way ANOVA and Tukey`s tests (α = 0.05). Results: IOS was truer in 3D implant distance and more precise in capturing local angulation than Stone (p ≤ 0.05). Other measurements were similar between both groups (p > 0.05). The amount of error introduced in the workflow by IOS and 3D printing was mostly similar (p > 0.05). 3D printed casts had similar or even higher accuracy than Stone group (p > 0.05). In most cases, higher trueness was achieved when using PRO 4K65 UV 3D printer and Elos implant analog system (p ≤ 0.05). Conclusion: 3D printer, implant analog system, and implant angulation have a significant effect on the accuracy of analog position in implant casts. Limited-span implant-supported cases could be reproduced digitally with similar accuracy as conventional methods. Clinical significance: A fully digital workflow with a carefully selected 3D printer and implant analog system can increase the accuracy of digitally produced implant casts with comparable accuracy to conventional workflow.
Comparison in Terms of Accuracy between DLP and LCD Printing Technology for Dental Model Printing

Abstract:Background: The aim of this study is to evaluate the accuracy of a Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) 3D printer compared to a Direct Light Processing (DLP) 3D printer for dental model printing. Methods: Two different printers in terms of 3D printing technology were used in this study. One was a DLP 3D printer and one an LCD 3D printer. The accuracy of the printers was evaluated in terms of trueness and precision. Ten STL reference files were used for this study. For trueness, each STL file was printed once with each 3D printer. For precision, one randomly chosen STL file was printed 10 times with each 3D printer. Afterward, the models were scanned with a model scanner, and reverse engineering software was used for the STL comparisons. Results: In terms of trueness, the comparison between the LCD 3D printer and DLP 3D printer was statistically significant, with a p-value = 0.004. For precision, the comparison between the LCD 3D printer and the DLP 3D printer was statistically significant, with a p-value = 0.011. Conclusions: The DLP 3D printer is more accurate in terms of dental model printing than the LCD 3D printer. However, both DLP and LCD printers can accurately be used to print dental models for the fabrication of orthodontic appliances.
Comparison of Presurgical Dental Models Manufactured with Two Different Three-Dimensional Printing Techniques

Abstract:Three-dimensional printing is a rapidly developing area of technology and manufacturing in the field of oral surgery. The aim of this study was comparison of presurgical models made by two different types of three-dimensional (3D) printing technology. Digital reference models were printed 10 times using fused deposition modelling (FDM) and digital light processing (DLP) techniques. All 3D printed models were scanned using a technical scanner. The trueness, linear measurements, and printing time were evaluated. The diagnostic models were compared with the reference models using linear and mean deviation for trueness measurements with computer software. Paired t-tests were performed to compare the two types of 3D printing technology. A P value < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. For FDM printing, all average distances between the reference points were smaller than the corresponding distances measured on the reference model. For the DLP models, the average distances in the three measurements were smaller than the original. Only one average distance measurement was greater. The mean deviation for trueness was 0.1775 mm for the FDM group and 0.0861 mm for the DLP group. Mean printing time for a single model was 517.6 minutes in FDM technology and 285.3 minutes in DLP. This study confirms that presurgical models manufactured with FDM and DLP technologies are usable in oral surgery. Our findings will facilitate clinical decision-making regarding the best 3D printing technology to use when planning a surgical procedure.

Abstract:Objective: This in vitro study aimed to quantitatively and qualitatively evaluate and compare the horizontal and vertical accuracies of complete-arch casts produced by six 3D printers with different printing principles and resolutions using a low-viscosity resin material. Methods: A reference cast was designed by CAD software. The 3D printers used were DLPa (Asiga MAX), DLPk (cara Print 4.0), LCD2o (Ondemand 2 K Printer), LCD2p (Photon Mono X), LCD4s (SONIC 4 K), and SLA (ZENITH U). Ten casts were printed for each 3D printer using a low-viscosity resin. The accuracy of each printed cast was evaluated using shell-to-shell deviations, 12 linear, one angular, and five height deviations, with a reference cast as the control. The surface features of the casts were examined using field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) and digital cameras. Results: The evaluation of shell-to-shell deviation revealed that DLPa and SLA printers exhibited low trueness values, whereas LCD printers displayed high trueness values. Among the LCD printers, LCD4s and LCD2o exhibited the lowest and highest trueness values, respectively. DLPa printers showed lower trueness values for intercanine and intermolar distances, whereas LCD printers generally demonstrated high trueness values. However, LCD4s exhibited similar trueness values to those of SLA and DLPk. The height deviation was smallest in the anterior area, whereas the largest height deviation occurred in the canine teeth. The surface characteristics indicated that the SLA casts had greater light reflection and blunt canine tips. The FE-SEM observations highlighted that the LCD and DLP printers exhibited varying layer characteristics, with some presenting rough and uneven borders in the anterior lingual area. Significance: The accuracy of 3D printed casts varied among the 3D printer groups: DLPa and SLA were accurate for shell-to-shell deviation, with DLPa being the most accurate for linear and angular deviations. Regardless of the XY resolution, the DLP printers outperformed the LCD printers. Among the LCD group of 3D printers, higher-resolution LCD4s demonstrated increased accuracy. The SLA exhibited soft layer borders in the FE-SEM owing to its laser spot characteristics and prominent light reflection in the digital camera images.
Accuracy of Tooth Positioning in 3D-Printing Aided Manufactured Complete Dentures: an in Vitro Study.

Abstract:Purpose: In this study, we propose a 3D printing-aided method for manufacturing complete dentures and evaluate its accuracy of artificial tooth positioning.Methods: Complete dentures were designed and 3D printed and put on a plaster cast; and pack and press tech-nique was used to fabricate the final denture during which artificial teeth were inserted in the teeth holes formed by the printed denture. In this study, fused deposition moulding (FDM) and stereolithography (SLA) techniques were used to fabricate complete dentures (10 pairs of maxillary and mandibular dentures each). After 3D scanning the final dentures, 3D comparison between the scanned teeth on the denture and its computer-aided design (CAD) data was made and single-tooth deflection angles were measured to evaluate the tooth position. Values were compared using independent-sample t-tests or the Mann-Whitney U test.Results: In the result of 3D comparison, the root mean square values of artificial teeth were 0.107 +/- 0.018 mm (SLA group) and 0.136 +/- 0.023 mm (FDM group; P < 0.05). In the result of single-tooth deflection angles, the mandibular anterior teeth demonstrated the maximum deflection angle, followed by the molars, premolars, and maxillary anterior teeth.Conclusions: It is feasible to fabricate complete dentures using 3D-printed complete dentures as prototypes and combine conventional methods. The accuracy of the final denture fabricated using SLA printing was better than that of dentures produced using the FDM method.Clinical significance: The 3D printing-aided manufacturing for complete dentures refers to using the 3D-printed dentures as a prototype along with the traditional process to fabricate final dentures and is an effective alter-native when the dentures cannot be directly processed using computer-aided manufacturing (CAM).
Accuracy, Reproducibility, and Dimensional Stability of Additively Manufactured Surgical Templates.

Abstract:STATEMENT OF PROBLEM:Additively manufactured surgical templates are commonly used for computer-guided implant placement. However, their accuracy, reproducibility, and dimensional stability have not been thoroughly investigated with the different 3D printers and materials used for their fabrication.PURPOSE:The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate the accuracy, reproducibility, and dimensional stability of additively manufactured surgical templates fabricated by using different 3D printers.MATERIAL AND METHODS:Thirty surgical templates were designed and additively manufactured from 3 different 3D printers as follows: group SLA (n=10) was fabricated by using a desktop stereolithography (SLA) 3D printer and photopolymerizing resin; group PolyJet (n=10) was fabricated by using a PolyJet 3D printer and photopolymerizing resins; and group DMP (n=10) was fabricated by using a direct metal printing (DMP) system and Co-Cr metal alloy. All surgical templates were scanned by using a laser scanner within 36 hours of production and digitalized again 1 month later. All scanned files were compared with the corresponding designed files in a surface matching software program. The mean deviation root mean square (RMS, measured in mm, representing accuracy), percentage of measurement data points within 1 standard deviation of mean RMS (in %, representing reproducibility), and dimensional changes were determined and compared.RESULTS:At the postproduction stage, group PolyJet was most accurate with the lowest RMS value of 0.10 ±0.02 mm and highest reproducibility with 93.07 ±1.54% of measurement data points within 1 standard deviation of mean RMS. After 1-month storage, group PolyJet(1month) remained the most accurate with the lowest RMS value of 0.14 ±0.03 mm and the highest reproducibility value of 92.46 ±1.50%. For dimensional stability, group SLA versus group SLA(1month) comparison showed a significant decrease in accuracy (RMS values of 0.20 ±0.08 mm versus 0.25 ±0.08 mm, P<.001) and reproducibility (88.16 ±3.66% versus 86.10 ±4.16%, P=.012). Group PolyJet versus group PolyJet(1month) comparison only showed significant changes in accuracy (RMS values of 0.10 ±0.02 mm versus 0.14 ±0.03 mm, P=.011). Group DMP versus group DMP(1month) comparison showed no significant changes in accuracy (RMS values of 0.19 ±0.03 mm versus 0.20 ±0.04 mm, P=.981) or reproducibility (89.77 ±1.61% versus 89.74 ±2.24%, P=1.000).CONCLUSIONS:Printed resin surgical templates produced by using the PolyJet 3D printer showed higher accuracy and reproducibility than those produced by using the desktop SLA 3D printer and printed Co-Cr surgical templates at both the postproduction stage and after 1-month storage. The level of accuracy and reproducibility in printed Co-Cr surgical templates was not affected by 1-month storage.
