Abstract:In this paper, we prove some Hardy type inequalities related to a class of degenerated elliptic operators with a double-weight. This class of operator is more extensive than the generalized Baouendi-Grushin operator. Thus the known results on generalized Baouendi-Grushin operators become particular cases here.

Abstract:Based on properties of vector fields, we prove Hardy inequalities with remainder terms in the Heisenberg group and a compact embedding in weighted Sobolev spaces. The best constants in Hardy inequalities are determined. Then we discuss the existence of solutions for the nonlinear eigenvalue problems in the Heisenberg group with weights for the -sub-Laplacian. The asymptotic behaviour, simplicity, and isolation of the first eigenvalue are also considered.

Abstract:In this paper, we establishweighted higher order exponential type inequalities in the geodesic space (X, d, mu) by proposing an abstract higher order Poincare inequality. These are also new in the non-weighted case. As applications, we obtain a weighted Trudinger's theorem in the geodesic setting and weighted higher order exponential type estimates for functions in Folland-Stein type Sobolev spaces defined on stratified Lie groups. A higher order exponential type inequality in a connected homogeneous space is also given.

Abstract:Motivated by the idea of Badiale and Tarantello who have found Hardy-Sobolev inequalities on R n , a class of Hardy-Sobolev type inequalities on H-type groups is proved via a new representation formula for functions. Extremal functions realizing equality in the inequalities are discussed by refined Concentration-Compactness principles. Finally, some sharp constants for Hardy type inequalities are given.

Abstract:In this paper we establish a class of Hardy inequalities related to the gen- eralized Baouendi-Grushin vector fields from another view. Our technique is based on an extension of an elementary integral inequality in the Euclidean space by the generalized di- vergence theorem, and then the choice of suitable vector fields. The best constant is also discussed. Our results contain the well known Hardy inequalities for the class of vector fields. As immediate consequences, we discuss some properties for p-degenerate subelliptic opera- tor and characterize a positive solutions of the nonlinear operator constructed by generalized Baouendi-Grnshin vector fields.

Abstract:Motivated essentially by several recent investigations which claimed to have generalized, improved and extended such classical inequalities as the well-known Opial's inequality, here we establish some general weighted Opial-type inequalities on time scales. We also provide counterexamples, corrections and modifications of the aforementioned recent claims by Wong el al. [Taiwanese J Math., 12 (2008), 463-471].

Abstract:This paper deals with the following weighted subelliptic p-Laplace equation L(p)u := div(X) (< A(x)Xu(x), Xu(x)>(p-2/2) A(x)Xu(x)) = g(x), where the system X = (X-1; ...; X-m) satisfies Hormander's condition, u is an element of W-1,W-p (Omega; w); 1 < p < Q; A (x) is a bounded measurable and m x m symmetric matrix satisfying lambda(-1) w (x)(2/p)vertical bar xi vertical bar(2) <= < A (x) xi, xi > <= lambda w (x)(2/p)vertical bar xi vertical bar(2); for xi is an element of R-m, with w = w (x) being an A(p) function. We first establish a maximum principle for weak solutions to the equation L(p)u = g with the weighted Sobolev inequality and the extension of Moser iteration technique to the weight case. Next, the local boundedness and the Harnack inequality for nonnegative weak solutions to L(p)u = g are proved. As an application, the Holder continuity for nonnegative weak solutions is given. Unlike in many papers, we do not impose any restriction in advance for measures of metric balls.
