Abstract:We continue our investigation of Hardy-type inequalities involving combinations of cylindrical and spherical weights. Compared to [Cora-Musina-Nazarov, Ann. Sc. Norm. Sup., 2024], where the quasi-spherical case was considered, we handle the full range of allowed parameters. This has led to the observation of new phenomena related to lack of compactness.

Abstract:When studying the weighted Hardy-Rellich inequality in $L^2$ with the full gradient replaced by the radial derivative the best constant becomes trivially larger or equal than in the first situation. Our contribution is to determine the new sharp constant and to show that for some part of the weights is strictly larger than before. In some cases we emphasize that the extremals functions of the sharp constant are not radially symmetric.

Abstract:We present a unified approach to obtain Hardy-type inequalities in the context of nilpotent Lie groups with sharp constants. The unified methodology employed herein allows for exploration of the sharp Hardy inequalities on various Lie group structures and improves previously known inequalities even in the classical Euclidean setting. By leveraging this framework, as an application, we derive new Caffarelli-Kohn-Nirenberg type inequalities both in the classical Euclidean setting and on general homogeneous Lie groups.

Abstract:In this paper, we derive new sharp weighted Alexandrov-Fenchel and Minkowski inequalities for smooth, closed hypersurfaces under various convexity assumptions in Euclidean, spherical, and hyperbolic spaces. These inequalities extend classical results by incorporating weights given by convex, non-decreasing positive functions, which are otherwise arbitrary. Our approach gives rise to a broad family of geometric inequalities, as each convex, non-decreasing function yields a corresponding inequality, providing considerable flexibility.

Abstract:By a systematic development of fundamental concepts of conformable calculus we establish conformable divergence theorem and Green's identities which we combine with some new anisotropic Picone type identities to derive a generalized anisotropic Hardy type inequality with weights and conformable fractional differential operators. As a consequence, several Hardy type inequalities and Heisenberg Pauli-Weyl uncertainty principles are obtained.

Sharp Hardy inequalities involving distance functions from submanifolds of Riemannian manifolds

Abstract:We establish various Hardy inequalities involving the distance function from submanifolds of Riemannian manifolds, where the natural weights are expressed in terms of bounds of the mean curvature of the submanifold and sectional/Ricci curvature of the ambient Riemannian manifold. Our approach is based on subtle Heintze-Karcher-type Laplace comparisons of the distance function and on a D'Ambrosio-Dipierro-type weak divergence formula for suitable vector fields, providing Barbatis-Filippas-Tertikas-type Hardy inequalities in the curved setting. Under very mild assumptions, we also establish the sharpness and non-existence of extremal functions within the Hardy inequalities and - depending on the geometry of the ambient manifold - their extensibility to various function spaces. Several examples are provided by showing the applicability of our approach; in particular, well-known Hardy inequalities appear as limit cases of our new inequalities.

Abstract:In this paper we discuss cylindrical extensions of improved Hardy, Sobolev type and Caffarelli-Kohn-Nirenberg type inequalities with sharp constants and identities in the spirit of Badiale-Tarantello [2]. All identities are obtained in the setting of $L^p$ for all $p\in (1,\infty)$ without the real-valued function assumption. The obtained identities provide a simple and direct understanding of these inequalities as well as the nonexistence of nontrivial extremizers. As a byproduct, we show extended Caffarelli-Kohn-Nirenberg type inequalities with remainder terms that imply a cylindrical extension of the classical Heisenberg-Pauli-Weyl uncertainty principle. Furthermore, we prove $L^p$-Hardy type identities with logarithmic weights that imply the critical Hardy inequality in the special case. Lastly, we also discuss extensions of these results on homogeneous Lie groups. Particular attention is paid to stratified Lie groups, where the functional inequalities become intricately intertwined with the properties of sub-Laplacians and related hypoelliptic partial differential equations. The obtained results already imply new insights even in the classical Euclidean setting with respect to the range of parameters and the arbitrariness of the choice of any homogeneous quasi-norm.

Abstract:We consider weighted Hardy inequalities involving the distance function to the boundary of a domain in the $N$-dimensional Euclidean space with nonempty boundary. We give a lower bound for the corresponding best Hardy constant for a domain satisfying a uniform exterior cone condition. This lower bound depends on the aperture of the corresponding infinite circular cone.

Abstract:The aim of this paper is to begin a systematic study of functional inequalities on symmetric spaces of noncompact type of higher rank. Our first main goal of this study is to establish the Stein-Weiss inequality, also known as a weighted Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequality, for the Riesz potential on symmetric spaces of noncompact type. This is achieved by performing delicate estimates of ground spherical function with the use of polyhedral distance on symmetric spaces and by combining the integral Hardy inequality developed by Ruzhansky and Verma with the sharp Bessel-Green-Riesz kernel estimates on symmetric spaces of noncompact type obtained by Anker and Ji. As a consequence of the Stein-Weiss inequality, we deduce Hardy-Sobolev, Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev, Gagliardo-Nirenberg and Caffarelli-Kohn-Nirenberg inequalities on symmetric spaces of noncompact type. The second main purpose of this paper is to show the applications of aforementioned inequalities for studying nonlinear PDEs on symmetric spaces. Specifically, we show that the Gagliardo-Nirenberg inequality can be used to establish small data global existence results for the semilinear wave equations with damping and mass terms for the Laplace-Beltrami operator on symmetric spaces.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the two-weight Hardy inequalities on metric measure space possessing polar decompositions for the case p = 1 and 1 ≤ q < ∞ . This result complements the Hardy inequalities obtained in [M. Ruzhansky and D. Verma, Hardy inequalities on metric measure spaces, Proc. Roy. Soc. A. 475 2019, 2223, Article ID 20180310] in the case 1 < p ≤ q < ∞ . The case p = 1 requires a different argument and does not follow as the limit of known inequalities for p > 1 . As a byproduct, we also obtain the best constant in the established inequality. We give examples obtaining new weighted Hardy inequalities on homogeneous Lie groups, on hyperbolic spaces and on Cartan–Hadamard manifolds for the case p = 1 and 1 ≤ q < ∞ .

Optimal Power-Weighted Birman--Hardy--Rellich-type Inequalities on Finite Intervals and Annuli

Abstract:We derive an optimal power-weighted Hardy-type inequality in integral form on finite intervals and subsequently prove the analogous inequality in differential form. We note that the optimal constant of the latter inequality differs from the former. Moreover, by iterating these inequalities we derive the sequence of power-weighted Birman-Hardy-Rellich-type inequalities in integral form on finite intervals and then also prove the analogous sequence of inequalities in differential form. We use the one-dimensional Hardy-type result in differential form to derive an optimal multi-dimensional version of the power-weighted Hardy inequality in differential form on annuli (i.e., spherical shell domains), and once more employ an iteration procedure to derive the Birman-Hardy-Rellich-type sequence of power-weighted higher-order Hardy-type inequalities for annuli. In the limit as the annulus approaches $\mathbb{R}^n$, we recover well-known prior results on Rellich-type inequalities on $\mathbb{R}^n$.

Hardy-Sobolev type inequalities and their applications

Abstract: This paper is devoted to various applications of Hardy-Sobolev type inequalities. We derive a new $L^2$ estimate for the $\bar{\partial}-$equation on ${\mathbb C}^n$ which yields a quantitative generalization of the Hartogs extension theorem to the case when the singularity set is not necessary compact. We show that for any negative subharmonic function $\psi$ on ${\mathbb R}^n$, $n>2$, the BMO norm of $\log |\psi|$ is bounded above by $2\sqrt{n-2}$ and $|\psi|^\gamma$ satisfies a reverse H\"older inequality for every $0<\gamma<1$. We also show that every plurisubharmonic function is locally BMO. Several Liouville theorems for subharmonic functions on complete Riemannian manifolds are given. As a consequence, we get a Margulis type theorem that if a bounded domain in ${\mathbb C}^n$ covers a Zariski open set in a projective algebraic variety, then the group of deck transformations of the covering has trivial center.
Weighted fractional Hardy inequalities with singularity on any flat submanifold

Abstract:We extend the work of Dyda and Kijaczko by establishing the corresponding weighted fractional Hardy inequalities with singularities on any flat submanifolds. While they derived weighted fractional Hardy inequalities with singularities at a point and on a half-space, we generalize these results to handle singularities on any flat submanifold of codimension $k$, where $1<k<d$. Furthermore, we also address the critical case $sp=k+\alpha+ \beta$ and establish weighted fractional Hardy inequality with appropriate logarithmic weight function.

Abstract:In this paper, we prove some Willmore-type inequalities for closed hypersurfaces in weighted manifolds with nonnegative Bakry-Émery Ricci curvature. In particular, we get a sharp Willmore type inequality steady gradient Ricci solitons. We also prove a sharp Willmore-like inequality in shrinking gradient Ricci solitons. Moreover, we characterize the equality cases of our Willmore-type inequalities. These results can be regarded as generalizations of Agostiniani-Fogagnolo-Mazzieri's Willmore-type inequality to weighted manifolds. As applications, we derive some isoperimetric type inequalities under certain existence assumptions of isoperimetric regions in weighted manifolds.
