Abstract:Hundreds of 650 MHz superconducting radio-frequency (SRF) cavities with high intrinsic quality factor (Q0) and accelerating gradient (Eacc) will be adopted for Circular Electron Positron Collider (CEPC). The values of Q0 and Eacc are obtained during vertical test at 2.0 K. Hence, high accuracy of vertical test is essential for evaluating the performance of SRF cavity. The 650 MHz SRF cavities achieved very high Q0 (6E10) and Eacc (40 MV/m) during the vertical test. In our study, the error analysis of vertical test was conducted in the scalar case, in order to achieve high accuracy. The uncertainties of vertical test were obtained through calculation, which was approximately 3% for Eacc and less than 5% for Q0. This result was reasonable and acceptable.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
This paper aims to solve the problem of error analysis in the vertical test of 650 MHz superconducting radio - frequency cavities (SRF cavities). Specifically, the research focuses on how to achieve high - precision measurement in the vertical test to evaluate the performance of SRF cavities for the Circular Electron - Positron Collider (CEPC). The CEPC plans to use hundreds of 650 MHz SRF cavities with high intrinsic quality factor (\(Q_0\)) and high acceleration gradient (\(E_{\text{acc}}\)). The values of these parameters are obtained in the vertical test at 2.0 K, so the accuracy of the vertical test is crucial for evaluating the performance of SRF cavities. By analyzing the scalar errors in the vertical test, the paper calculates the uncertainty of the measurement results, especially the uncertainties of \(E_{\text{acc}}\) and \(Q_0\). The research shows that the uncertainty of \(E_{\text{acc}}\) is about 3%, and the uncertainty of \(Q_0\) is less than 5%. This result is considered reasonable and acceptable. To achieve this goal, the paper details the vertical test system (VTS) of IHEP (Institute of High Energy Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences), including the test theory, loop composition, test procedure and calibration method. In addition, the sources of system uncertainty are explored and detailed error calculations are carried out. Through these analyses, the researchers hope to improve the accuracy of the vertical test, so as to better understand and enhance the performance of SRF cavities.
