Abstract:In this paper, inspired by Schur's comparison theorem about curves in Euclidean space, we mainly provide a Schur's type volume comparison theorem, which is about the volumes of the boundaries of open balls in a complete $n$-dimensional Riemannian manifold with Ricci$\geq (n-1)k$.

Abstract:AbstractIn this paper, we establish a universal volume comparison theorem for Finsler manifolds and give the Berger–Kazdan inequality and Santalá's formula in Finsler geometry. Based on these, we derive a Berger–Kazdan type comparison theorem and a Croke type isoperimetric inequality for Finsler manifolds.

Abstract:We study the problem of finding complete conformal metrics determined by some symmetric function of the modified Schouten tensor on compact manifolds with boundary; which reduces to a Dirichlet problem. We prove the existence of the solution under some suitable conditions. In particular, we prove that every smooth compact n-dimensional manifold with boundary, with n >= 3, admits a complete Riemannian metric g whose Ricci curvature Ric(g) and scalar curvature R-g satisfydet(Ric(g) - R(g)g) = const.This result generalizes Aviles and McOwen's in the scalar curvature case.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the critical metrics with cyclic parallel Ricci tensor for volume functional on manifolds with boundary. We show such metric is isometric to a geodesic ball in a simply connected space form $\mathbb {R}^n$, $\mathbb {H}^n$ or $\mathbb {S}^n$ under some extra conditions.

Abstract:Let M be an n (>= 7)-dimensional complete submanifold with parallel mean curvature in the hyperbolic space Hn+p, whose mean curvature satisfies H-2-1 <= 0. Denote by angstrom and B-R(q) the trace free second fundamental form of M and the geodesic ball of radius R centered at q is an element of M, respectively. We prove that if lim(R ->infinity) sup integral(vertical bar angstrom vertical bar 2dM)(BR(q))/R-2 and if (integral(M)vertical bar angstrom vertical bar(n) dM)(2/n) + 2n(n-2)/3 root n(n-1) H(integral(M)vertical bar angstrom vertical bar(n/2)dM)(2/n) <= C(n), then M is congruent to an n-dimensional hyperbolic space or the Euclidean space R-n. Abstract:Let M be an n-dimensional closed hypersurface with constant mean curvature and constant scalar curvature in a unit sphere. Denote by H and S the mean curvature and the squared length of the second fundamental form. We prove that if a(n, H) <= S <= alpha( n, H)+ CnH2, where n >= 4 and H not equal 0, then S = alpha( n, H) and M is a Clifford torus Sn-1(r(1)) x S-1(r(2)). Here alpha(n, H) = n + n(3)/2(n -1) H-2 - n(n - 2)/2(n - 1) root n(2)H(4) + 4(n - 1) H-2, and C-n is a positive constant explicitly depending on n. The emphasis is that our gap theorem imposes no restriction on the range of mean curvature. Moreover, we obtain gap theorems for complete hypersurfaces with constant mean curvature and constant scalar curvature in space forms.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the volume comparison theorem related to $\sigma_2$-curvature. In particular, we show that volume comparison theorem with respect to $\sigma_2$-curvature holds for metrics close to strictly stable positive Einstein metrics. By applying similar techniques, we derive the local rigidity theorem for strictly stable Ricci flat manifolds with respect to $\sigma_2$-curvature, which shows it admits no metric with positive $\sigma_2$-curvature near strictly stable Ricci-flat metrics.

Abstract:We obtain sharp quantitative Laplacian upper and lower estimates under no assumption on curvatures. As a result, we derive quantitative Laplacian, area and volume comparison theorems for tubes in Riemannian and Kähler manifolds under weak integral curvature assumptions. We also give some applications, such as a general Bonnet-Myers theorem and Cheng's eigenvalue estimate under weak integral curvature assumptions.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the conormal bundle over a submanifold in a Finsler manifold and establish a volume comparison theorem. As an application, we derive a lower estimate for length of closed geodesics in a Finsler manifold. In the reversible case, a lower bound of injective radius is also obtained.

Abstract:In this paper, we provide comparisons of solutions to nonlinear parabolic equations on complete manifolds with Ric≥ (n-1)κ , where κ =0 or 1, which extend the results of Cheng et al. (Schwarz symmetrizations in parabolic equations on complete manifolds, 2021) and Vázquez (C R Acad Sci Paris Ser I Math 295(2):71–74, 1982). As an application, we give an alternate proof to Faber–Krahn inequality for Dirichlet Laplacian on these manifolds, which was proved in Balogh and Kristály (Math Ann https://doi.org/10.1007/s00208-022-02380-1 , 2022) [see also Chen and Li (J Geom Anal 33(4):123, 2023) and Fogagnolo and Mazzieri (J Funct Anal 283:109638, 2022)]. Additionally, we also obtain corresponding comparison results on minimal submanifolds in Riemannian manifolds with nonnegative sectional curvature.
New Volume Comparison Results and Volume Growth Rigidity of Gradient Ricci Almost Solitons

Abstract:In this paper, we establish a new volume comparison theorem for a complete manifold with a function $\rho(x)$ as the lower bound of the Bakry-Emery Ricci curvature. As applications, we obtain a new volume rigidity result of the gradient Ricci almost solitons. Furthermore, we extend the results of Cao and Zhou \cite{CZ} to shrinking gradient Ricci almost solitons and get the rigidity result with respect to the maximal volume growth.

Abstract:We prove pointwise and $L^{p}$-gradient comparison results for solutions to elliptic Dirichlet problems defined on open subsets of a (possibly non-smooth) space with positive Ricci curvature (more precisely of an $\mathrm{RCD}(K,N)$ metric measure space, with $K>0$ and $N\in (1,\infty)$). The obtained Talenti-type comparison is sharp, rigid and stable with respect to $L^{2}$/measured-Gromov-Hausdorff topology; moreover, several aspects seem new even for smooth Riemannian manifolds. As applications of such Talenti-type comparison, we prove a series of improved Sobolev-type inequalities, and an $\mathrm{RCD}$ version of the St.~Venant-Pólya torsional rigidity comparison theorem (with associated rigidity and stability statements). Finally, we give a probabilistic interpretation (in the setting of smooth Riemannian manifolds) of the aforementioned comparison results, in terms of exit time from an open subset for the Brownian motion.

They are complex Hessian comparison for the distance function from a closed complex submanifold of a Kahler manifold with holomorphic bisectional curvature bounded below by a constant, eigenvalue comparison and volume comparison in terms of scalar curvature. Abstract:To a complex projective structure Σ on a surface, Thurston associates a locally convex pleated surface. We derive bounds on the geometry of both in terms of the norms ‖ϕΣ‖∞ and ‖ϕΣ‖2 of the quadratic differential ϕΣ of Σ given by the Schwarzian derivative of the associated locally univalent map. We show that these give a unifying approach that generalizes a number of important, well-known results for convex cocompact hyperbolic structures on 3-manifolds, including bounds on the Lipschitz constant for the nearest-point retraction and the length of the bending lamination. We then use these bounds to begin a study of the Weil–Petersson gradient flow of renormalized volume on the space CC(N) of convex cocompact hyperbolic structures on a compact manifold N with incompressible boundary, leading to a proof of the conjecture that the renormalized volume has infimum given by one half the simplicial volume of DN, the double of N.

Abstract:In this paper, we present finite topological type theorems for open manifolds with non-negative Ricci curvature, under almost maximal local rewinding volume. Unlike previous related research, our theorems remove the constraints of sectional curvature or conjugate radius, which were crucial additional assumptions on metric regularity in prior results. Notably, our settings do not necessarily satisfy a triangle comparison of Toponogov type. In fact, the method we adopt also extends to many previous related studies.

Abstract:We investigate the differentiable pinching problem for compact immersed submanifolds of positive k-th Ricci curvature, and prove that if M n is simply connected and the k-th Ricci curvature of M n is bounded below by a quantity involving the mean curvature of M n and the curvature of the ambient manifold, then M n is diffeomorphic to the standard sphere ${\mathbb{S}^n}$. For the case where the ambient manifold is a space form with nonnegative constant curvature, we prove a differentiable sphere theorem without the assumption that the submanifold M n is simply connected. Motivated by a geometric rigidity theorem due to S. T. Yau and U. Simon, we prove a topological rigidity theorem for submanifolds in a space form.
