Abstract:Given two combinatorial identities proved earlier, a new set of variations of these combinatorial identities is listed and proved with the integral representation method. Some identities from literature are shown to be special cases of these new identities.

Abstract:Making use of a telescoping approach, three types of sums of binomial quotients are examined. The summation terms of the two types of alternating sums have symmetry (i.e., their numerators and denominators are completely symmetric). We obtained a series of their explicit sums. Furthermore, by means of binomial relations, three recurrence relations of the sums are derived. In addition, series of double summation formulae involving binomial quotients are established.

Abstract:Motivated by Berkovich's nine $q$-binomial identities involving the Legendre symbol $(\frac{d}{3})$, we establish a unified form of $q$-binomial identities of this type through a combinatorial approach. This unified form includes Berkovich's nine identities as special cases. Many such identities can be also deduced from this unified form.

Abstract:Let k be a positive integer and p be a prime.We give some congruences involving the binomial coefficients((k+1)p-a)p-a),(kp-1p-a) with 1 ≤ a ≤ p-1 and （kp+p-1/2b±p-1/2±b),(kp-1p-1/2±b) with 0 ≤ b ≤ p-1/2.In particular,we get a generalization of Morley's congruence.Meanwhile,some congruences about the summation of ((k+1)p-ap-a) are obtained.

Abstract:In this paper, we apply the combinatorial proof technique of Description, Involution, Exceptions (DIE) to prove various known identities for the joint cumulant. Consider a set of random variables $S = \{X_1,..., X_n\} $. Motivated by the definition of the joint cumulant, we define $ \sC(S) $ as the set of cyclically arranged partitions of $S$, allowing us to express the joint cumulant of $ S $ as a weighted, alternating sum over $\sC(S)$. We continue to define other combinatorial objects that allow us to rewrite expressions originally in terms of the joint cumulant as weighted sums over the set of these combinatorial objects. Then by constructing weight-preserving, sign-reversing involutions on these objects, we evaluate the original expressions to prove the identities, demonstrating the utility of DIE.

Abstract:We provide combinatorial tools inspired by work of Warnaar to give combinatorial interpretations of the sum sides of the Andrews-Gordon and Bressoud identities. More precisely, we give an explicit weight- and length-preserving bijection between sets related to integer partitions, which provides these interpretations. In passing, we discover the $q$-series version of an identity of Kurşungöz, similar to the Bressoud identity but with opposite parity conditions, which we prove combinatorially using the classical Bressoud identity and our bijection. We also use this bijection to prove combinatorially many identities, some known and other new, of the Andrews-Gordon and Bressoud type.

Abstract:Recently, Andrews and El Bachraoui (2024) proved three very interesting $q$-series identities, from which three simple looking identities involving certain restricted partitions into distinct even parts and $4$-regular partitions follow. Abstract:This article is concerned with the constants that appear in Harish-Chandra's character formula for stable discrete series of real reductive groups, although it does not require any knowledge about real reductive groups or discrete series. In Harish-Chandra's work the only information we have about these constants is that they are uniquely determined by an inductive property. Later Goresky-Kottwitz-MacPherson and Herb gave different formulas for these constants. In this article we generalize these formulas to the case of arbitrary finite Coxeter groups (in this setting, discrete series no longer make sense), and give a direct proof that the two formulas agree. We actually prove a slightly more general identity that also implies the combinatorial identity underlying the discrete series character identities of Morel. We deduce this identity from a general abstract theorem giving a way to calculate the alternating sum of the values of a valuation on the chambers of a Coxeter arrangement. We also introduce a ring structure on the set of valuations on polyhedral cones in Euclidean space with values in a fixed ring. This gives a theoretical framework for the valuation appearing in Appendix A of the Goresky-Kottwitz-MacPherson paper. In Appendix B we extend the notion of $2$-structures (due to Herb) to pseudo-root systems.
