Abstract:In the paper, by virtue of the generating function of the Catalan numbers and with the help of the power series expansions of the square or cubic of the arcsine function, the authors establish five identities involving the product or ratio of two central binomial coefficients which are related to the Catalan numbers in combinatorial number theory. As a corollary of our main results, Problem~11897 posed in 2016 and solved in 2018 in Amer. Math. Monthly is derived alternatively.

Abstract:The recent interest in type B $q$-Stirling numbers of the second kind prompted us to give a type B analogue of a classical identity connecting the $q$-Stirling numbers of the second kind and Carlitz's major $q$-Eulerian numbers, which turns out to be a $q$-analogue of an identity due to Bagno, Biagioli and Garber. We provide a combinatorial proof of this identity and an algebraic proof of a more general identity for colored permutations. In addition, we prove some $q$-identities about the $q$-Stirling numbers of the second kind in types A, B and D.

Abstract:Making use of a telescoping approach, three types of sums of binomial quotients are examined. The summation terms of the two types of alternating sums have symmetry (i.e., their numerators and denominators are completely symmetric). We obtained a series of their explicit sums. Furthermore, by means of binomial relations, three recurrence relations of the sums are derived. In addition, series of double summation formulae involving binomial quotients are established.

Abstract:Let k be a positive integer and p be a prime.We give some congruences involving the binomial coefficients((k+1)p-a)p-a),(kp-1p-a) with 1 ≤ a ≤ p-1 and （kp+p-1/2b±p-1/2±b),(kp-1p-1/2±b) with 0 ≤ b ≤ p-1/2.In particular,we get a generalization of Morley's congruence.Meanwhile,some congruences about the summation of ((k+1)p-ap-a) are obtained.

Abstract:By means of the generating function method, a linear recurrence relation is explicitly resolved. The solution is expressed in terms of the Stirling numbers of both the first and the second kind. Two remarkable pairs of combinatorial identities are established as applications, that contain some well-known convolution formulae on Stirling numbers as special cases.

Abstract:Binomial coefficients and central trinomial coefficients play important roles in combinatorics. Let $p>3$ be a prime. We show that $$T_{p-1}\equiv\left(\frac p3\right)3^{p-1}\ \pmod{p^2},$$ where the central trinomial coefficient $T_n$ is the constant term in the expansion of $(1+x+x^{-1})^n$. We also prove three congruences modulo $p^3$ conjectured by Sun, one of which is $$\sum_{k=0}^{p-1}\binom{p-1}k\binom{2k}k((-1)^k-(-3)^{-k})\equiv \left(\frac p3\right)(3^{p-1}-1)\ \pmod{p^3}.$$ In addition, we get some new combinatorial identities.

Abstract:We mainly introduce two new kinds of numbers given by $$R_n=\sum_{k=0}^n\binom nk\binom{n+k}k\frac1{2k-1}\quad (n=0,1,2,...)$$ and $$S_n=\sum_{k=0}^n\binom nk^2\binom{2k}k(2k+1)\quad (n=0,1,2,...).$$ We find that such numbers have many interesting arithmetic properties. For example, if $p\equiv1\pmod 4$ is a prime with $p=x^2+y^2$ (where $x\equiv1\pmod 4$ and $y\equiv0\pmod 2$), then $$R_{(p-1)/2}\equiv p-(-1)^{(p-1)/4}2x\pmod{p^2}.$$ Also, $$\frac1{n^2}\sum_{k=0}^{n-1}S_k\in\mathbb Z \frac1n\sum_{k=0}^{n-1}S_k(x)\in\mathbb Z[x]\quad\text{for all} n=1,2,3,...,$$ where $S_k(x)=\sum_{j=0}^k\binom kj^2\binom{2j}j(2j+1)x^j$. For any positive integers $a$ and $n$, we show that, somewhat surprisingly, $$\frac1{n^2}\sum_{k=0}^{n-1}(2k+1)\binom{n-1}k^a\binom{-n-1}k^a\in\mathbb Z {and} \frac 1n\sum_{k=0}^{n-1}\frac{\binom{n-1}k^a\binom{-n-1}k^a}{4k^2-1}\in\mathbb Z.$$ We also solve a conjecture of V.J.W. Guo and J. Zeng, and pose several conjectures for further research.

Abstract:In this paper, we deduce several new identities on infinite series with denominators of summands containing both binomial coefficients and linear parts. For example, we evaluate the sums $$\sum_{k=1}^\infty\frac{x_0^k}{(2k-1)\binom{3k}k},\ \sum_{k=0}^\infty\frac{x_0^k}{(3k+1)\binom{3k}k} \ \text{and}\ \sum_{k=0}^\infty\frac{x_0^k}{(3k+2)\binom{3k}k}$$ for any $x_0\in(-27/4,27/4)$. For any $1<n\le 85/4$, we obtain the following fast converging series for $\log n$: $$\begin{aligned}&\sum_{k=0}^\infty\frac{(2(n^2+6n+1)^2k+n^4+30n^2+1)(n-1)^{4k}}{(4k+1)(-n)^k(n+1)^{2k}\binom{4k}{2k}}\\&\qquad=8n(n+1)^2-2n(n^2-1)\log n.\end{aligned}$$ We also prove that $$\sum_{k=0}^\infty\frac{153965k^2-96459k+22786}{(-8)^k\binom{4k}k}=\frac{64}5(1634-45\log2).$$ In addition, we pose many new conjectural series identities involving binomial coefficients; for example, we conjecture that $$\sum_{k=1}^\infty\frac{\binom{2k}k^3}{4096^k}\bigg(9(42k+5)\sum_{j=0}^{k-1}\frac1{(2j+1)^4}+\frac{25}{(2k+1)^3}\bigg)=\frac 56\pi^3.$$

Abstract:In this paper, we prove the identity $$\lcm\{\binom{k}{0}, \binom{k}{1}, >..., \binom{k}{k}\} = \frac{\lcm(1, 2, ..., k, k + 1)}{k + 1} (\forall k \in \mathbb{N}) .$$ As an application, we give an easily proof of the well-known nontrivial lower bound $\lcm(1, 2, ..., k) \geq 2^{k - 1}$ $(\forall k \geq 1)$.
