Abstract:We study the concept of spin heat accumulation in excited spin valves, more precisely the effective electron temperature that may become spin dependent, both in linear response and far from equilibrium. A temperature or voltage gradient create non-equilibrium energy distributions of the two spin ensembles in the normal metal spacer, which approach Fermi-Dirac functions through energy relaxation mediated by electron-electron and electron-phonon coupling. Both mechanisms also exchange energy between the spin subsystems. This inter-spin energy exchange may strongly affect thermoelectric properties spin valves, leading, e.g., to violations of the Wiedemann-Franz law.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
This paper aims to explore spin heat accumulation and its relaxation process in spin valves. Specifically, the author studied how the spin - related effective electron temperature affects the thermoelectric properties of spin valves under non - equilibrium conditions. ### Main problems 1. **Concept of spin heat accumulation**: When a voltage or temperature gradient is applied, the energy distributions of the two spin ensembles in the normal - metal spacer layer in the spin valve will become different, forming a spin - dependent effective electron temperature \(T_{\sigma}\). 2. **Energy relaxation mechanism**: These non - equilibrium energy distributions gradually approach the Fermi - Dirac function through electron - electron (e - e) and electron - phonon (e - ph) couplings. These two mechanisms not only regulate the energy distribution but also exchange energy between spin subsystems. 3. **Influence on thermoelectric properties**: The energy exchange between spin subsystems significantly affects the thermoelectric characteristics of spin valves, for example, it may lead to the failure of the Wiedemann - Franz law. ### Specific research contents - **Spin heat accumulation and temperature gradient**: The author studied the changes in the thermal conductivity \(K\) and Seebeck coefficient \(S\) of spin valves under parallel (P) and antiparallel (AP) magnetic configurations. They found that at low temperatures, spin heat accumulation can be used as a means to control heat flow. - **Characteristic temperatures**: Two characteristic temperatures \(T_{ch,e - ph}\) and \(T_{ch,e - e}\) were introduced to describe the effects of electron - phonon and electron - electron interactions on spin heat relaxation, respectively. - **Numerical simulation and experimental verification**: By numerically solving the kinetic equations, the validity of the theoretical model was verified, and how to directly detect spin heat accumulation through spin - selective temperature measurement, noise measurement and other methods was discussed. ### Key formulas - Characteristic temperature of electron - phonon coupling: \[ T_{ch,e - ph}=\left(\frac{\pi k_{B}^{2}}{15\hbar\Sigma\Omega}\right)^{1/3}\left(\frac{G_{0}h}{e^{2}}\right)^{1/3} \] - Characteristic temperature of electron - electron coupling: \[ T_{ch,e - e}=\frac{8\pi(G_{0}h / e^{2})^{2/3}E_{T}}{k_{B}(F + 1)}\left[\frac{\pi(F + 2)}{48FC\pi^{2}\zeta(3/2)+105[6 + F(3 + C)]\zeta(7/2)}\right]^{2/3} \] ### Conclusion This research reveals the important influence of spin heat accumulation and its relaxation process on the thermoelectric properties of spin valves, providing a theoretical basis for the future design of new thermoelectric devices. In addition, the author also proposed the possibility of further exploring spin heat accumulation through methods such as spin - selective cooling.
