Abstract:In this paper we construct a physical modelization of the universe expansion. The universe then reduces to a Riemannian space $0.2cm$ $(B(O,R(t)),g_t)$, where $R(t) \sim t$ for $t \gg $0, and $g_t$ is a time - dependent Riemannian metric which reflects and characterizes the dynamical matter - energy distribution $E_t(X)$ on $B(O,R(t))$ according to the Mach - Einstein principle. Our model allows us to resolve several major problems of Physics. It is consistent in the sense that all Newtonian and classical physical laws are valid as particular cases in classical situations. Moreover, our model permits to recover some confirmed principles and postulates such as the famous Einstein's relationship $ E = mc^2$ and to specify some approximate results of modern Physics. After showing, rigorously, the deficiency of the second part of the special relativity second postulate and after specifying the role of the wave quantum Mechanics and the quantum Statistics, we adapt the Einstein's general relativity theory and the (Einstein - de Sitter - Friedmann) homogeneous isotropic cosmology to our setting. This readaptation allows us to determine the age, the size and the total energy of our universe and to prove that only the total energy E, the electromagnetic constant $ke^2$ and the speed of light c are time - independent universal constants. The other fundamental constants of Physics (such as G,$\bar{h}$, $K_B 0.05cm T$, $\alpha$...) are indeed time - dependent and naturally related to the previous ones. Consequently, we realize the unification of all Physics' domains The expanding universe is so reduced to four basic elements (E, c, $ke^2$, t) and dynamically described by a (reviewed) general relativity theory.

Abstract:The proposal "no boundary" of physicists Hartle and Hawking seeks to build a satisfactory model of the early Universe, in a way that avoids the singularity "Big Bang" of the beginning of the Universe. As a consequence of this proposal, the concept of metric signature change arises, which is approached in different ways in the literature. Here, we reinterpret the Mansouri-Nozari approach, which modifies the FLRW metric, and uses the formalism of Colombeau's Algebras, to develop its equations. In addition, we write the function that changes the sign in terms of redshift. Finally, we developed Friedmann's equations, of the modified metric, as well as the equation of state and other relevant equations in Cosmology.

Abstract:Cosmology is built on a relativistic understanding of gravity, where the geometry of the Universe is dynamically determined by matter and energy. In the cosmological concordance model, gravity is described by General Relativity, and it is assumed that on large scales the Universe is homogeneous and isotropic. These fundamental principles should be tested. In this thesis, we explore the implications of breaking them. In order to understand possible modifications to gravity on cosmological scales, we extend the formalism of parameterised post-Newtonian cosmology, an approach for building cosmological tests of gravity that are consistent with tests on astrophysical scales. We demonstrate how this approach can be used to construct theory-independent equations for the cosmic expansion and its first-order perturbations. Then, we apply the framework to observations of the anisotropies in the cosmic microwave background. We use these to place novel cosmological constraints on the evolution of the post-Newtonian parameters. We investigate the consequences of inhomogeneity and isotropy by developing a new approach to studying anisotropy in the Universe, wherein we consider how an anisotropic cosmology might emerge on large scales as a result of averaging over inhomogeneous structures, and demonstrate how the emergent model is affected by backreaction. We perform a detailed study of light propagation in a wide class of inhomogeneous and anisotropic spacetimes, exploring the conditions under which the Hubble diagram can be accurately predicted by an anisotropic model constructed using explicit averaging, even in the presence of large inhomogeneities. We show that observables calculated in a suitable averaged description closely reproduce the true Hubble diagram on large scales, as long as the spacetime possesses a well-defined homogeneity scale.

Abstract:In this study, we investigate deviations from the Planck- CDM model in the late universe ( ) using the Gaussian Processes method, with minimal assumptions. Our goal is to understand where exploring new physics in the late universe is most relevant. We analyze recent Cosmic Chronometers (CC), Type Ia Supernovae (SN), and Baryon Acoustic Oscillations (BAO) data. By examining reconstructions of the dimensionless parameter , which measures deviations of the Hubble parameter from the Planck- CDM predictions, we identify intriguing features at low ( ) and high ( ) redshifts. Deviations from the Planck- CDM model were not significant between . Using the combined CC+SN+BAO dataset, we gain insights into dark energy (DE) dynamics, resembling characteristics of omnipotent DE, extending beyond quintessence and phantom models. DE exhibits n-quintessence traits for , transitioning with a singularity around to usual phantom traits in . DE characteristics differ between scenarios ( -SH0ES and - &CMB), with -SH0ES leaning towards phantom traits and - &CMB towards quintessence. We suggest exploring new physics at and , particularly around , to understand cosmological tensions such as and .

Accelerated Expansion as Predicted by an Ether Theory of Gravitation

Abstract:Cosmology is investigated within a new, scalar theory of gravitation, which is a preferred-frame bimetric theory with flat background metric. Before coming to cosmology, the motivation for an " ether theory " is exposed at length; the investigated concept of ether is presented: it is a compressible fluid, and gravity is seen as Archimedes' thrust due to the pressure gradient in that fluid. The construction of the theory is explained and the current status of the experimental confrontation is analysed, both in some detail. An analytical cosmological solution is obtained for a general form of the energy-momentum tensor. According to that theory, expansion is necessarily accelerated, both by vacuum and even by matter. In one case, the theory predicts expansion, the density increasing without limit as time goes back to infinity. High density is thus obtained in the past, without a big-bang singularity. In the other case, the Universe follows a sequence of (non-identical) contraction-expansion cycles, each with finite maximum energy density; the current expansion phase will end by infinite dilution in some six billions of years. The density ratio of the present cycle (ratio of the maximum to current densities) is not determined by the current density and the current Hubble constant H0, unless a special assumption is made. Since cosmological redshifts approaching z = 4 are observed, the density ratio should be at least 100. From this and the estimate of H0, the time spent since the maximum density is constrained to be larger than several hundreds of billions of years. Yet if a high density ratio, compatible with the standard explanation for the light elements and the 2.7 K radiation, is assumed, then the age of the Universe is much larger still.

Cosmography of the Local Universe by Multipole Analysis of the Expansion Rate Fluctuation Field

Abstract:We explore the possibility of characterizing the expansion rate on local cosmic scales $(z \lesssim 0.1)$, where the cosmological principle is violated, in a model-independent manner, i.e. in a more meaningful and comprehensive way than is possible using the $H_0$ parameter of the Standard Model alone. We do this by means of the expansion rate fluctuation field $\eta$, an unbiased Gaussian observable that measures deviations from isotropy in the redshift-distance relation. We show that an expansion of $\eta$ in terms of covariant cosmographic parameters, both kinematic (expansion rate $\mathbb{H}_o$, deceleration $\mathbb{Q}_o$ and jerk $\mathbb{J}_o$) and geometric (curvature $\mathbb{R}_o$), allows for a consistent description of metric fluctuations even in a very local and strongly anisotropic universe. The covariant cosmographic parameters critically depend on the observer's state of motion. We thus show how the lower order multipoles of ${\eta}_{\ell}$ ($\ell \leq 4$), measured by a generic observer in an arbitrary state of motion can be used to disentangle expansion effects that are induced by observer's motion from those sourced by pure metric fluctuations. We test the formalism using analytical, axis-symmetric toy models which simulate large-scale linear fluctuations in the redshift-distance relation in the local Universe and which are physically motivated by available observational evidences. We show how to exploit specific features of $\eta$ to detect the limit of validity of a covariant cosmographic expansion in the local Universe, and to define the region where data can be meaningfully analyzed in a model-independent way, for cosmological inference. We also forecast the precision with which future data sets, such as ZTF, will constrain the structure of the expansion rate anisotropies in the local spacetime

Towards a new generalized space expansion dynamics applied to the rotation of galaxies and Tully Fisher law

Abstract:Up to now, the rotational velocities of galaxies are not clearly understood and the experimental Tully Fisher rule, linking the total galactic mass to the fourth power of the velocity, through an acceleration coefficient of about 10-10 m/s2 has not found a deep theoretical explanation. Tentative proposals (MOND theory of a modified Newton s law and extraneous dark matter) do not bring a definite clarification. We propose here a new approach to this problem, without exotic matter and using the classical Newton force. But we introduce a new additional universal acceleration, which could represent a universal expansion law valid at the scale level of a galaxy. We show that this hypothesis leads to a good description of the observed variations of the galactic transverse velocity. It can be considered as a consequence of the Scale Expansion Cosmos theory (SEC) introduced by J. Masreliez, but we postulate that the space expansion acceleration universally applies at any scale. We obtain a formal derivation of the Tully Fisher law, linking the constant galactic transverse velocity to its total mass, via the universal minimum acceleration. We derive a good estimate of the TF acceleration coefficient and show that expansion should be proportional to the square root of the local volumic mass density. Our conjecture is in fact a new dynamics principle which could be applied to many other physical problems at different scales. Applying it to the range of the solar planet system confirms the well known Kepler laws, at least as a valid approximation for the order of magnitude of the solar system.

The Exochronous Universe: a static solution to the Einstein field equation

Abstract:Arguably our current cosmological paradigm, the so-called $\Lambda$CDM `concordance model', faces an existential crisis. This has largely been brought about by its reliance on the twin concepts of dark matter and dark energy, and the continued inability of the observational and theoretical physics community to find viable candidates for these postulated phenomena. While it is still possible that this search will eventually prove successful, it is perhaps worthwhile looking at alternatives, and in particular, re-examining the very foundations of our current cosmological model to see whether an entirely new cosmological paradigm might provide a better explanation. The main failures of the prevailing cosmological paradigm were reviewed, concentrating on the coincidences and contradictions presented by the relationship between dark matter and dark energy. Revisiting the core features of this paradigm, the Friedman-Lemaître-Robertson-Walker (FLRW) metric is identified as the likely root cause of current issues with the $\Lambda$CDM model. Building on the concept of a `timeless' universe suggested by a number of theorists in recent years, the exochronous metric is introduced and is shown to give rise to a static solution to the Einstein field equations. The cosmological implications of this model are explored, and we demonstrate that it can result in a universe with a critical energy density that is close to the currently observed baryonic matter density, without the need to invoke dark matter or dark energy.

Abstract:In this paper, dark energy is modelled via a spherically symmetric quintessence scalar field $\varphi$, the dynamics of which are found to be analogous to a pendulum. This is due to a driving axion potential $V(\left|\varphi\right|)$, whose origins reside within the study of quantum chromodynamics (QCD). The effect of a cosmological constant $\Lambda$, introduced to represent the vacuum energy of space, is also investigated. Preliminary results suggest that $\Lambda$ is analogous to a spring-constant, and thus determining the elasticity of space. Additionally, a cosmological scale-factor $a(t,r)$, notably with an added spatial dependence, is also considered. We propose that due to this inhomogeneous scale-factor, the energy-density is characteristic of temperature fluctuations observed within the cosmic microwave background. Such fluctuations could ultimately lead to a universe composed of filaments and voids; vast expanses of space, separated by regions of localised matter/energy-density. Finally, we provide a means of screening both the cosmological constant and curvature of the universe, to effective values that are more consistent with experimental observation.
Holographic phenomenology via overlapping degrees of freedom

Abstract:The holographic principle suggests that regions of space contain fewer physical degrees of freedom than would be implied by conventional quantum field theory. Meanwhile, in Hilbert spaces of large dimension $2^n$, it is possible to define $N \gg n$ Pauli algebras that are nearly anti-commuting (but not quite) and which can be thought of as "overlapping degrees of freedom". We propose to model the phenomenology of holographic theories by allowing field-theory modes to be overlapping, and derive potential observational consequences. In particular, we build a Fermionic quantum field whose effective degrees of freedom approximately obey area scaling and satisfy a cosmic Bekenstein bound, and compare predictions of that model to cosmic neutrino observations. Our implementation of holography implies a finite lifetime of plane waves, which depends on the overall UV cutoff of the theory. To allow for neutrino flux from blazar TXS 0506+056 to be observable, our model needs to have a cutoff $k_{\mathrm{UV}} \lesssim 500\, k_{\mathrm{LHC}}\,$. This is broadly consistent with current bounds on the energy spectrum of cosmic neutrinos from IceCube, but high energy neutrinos are a potential challenge for our model of holography. We motivate our construction via quantum mereology, i.e. using the idea that EFT degrees of freedom should emerge from an abstract theory of quantum gravity by finding quasi-classical Hilbert space decompositions. We also discuss how to extend the framework to Bosons. Finally, using results from random matrix theory we derive an analytical understanding of the energy spectrum of our theory. Exponential Quintessence: curved, steep and stringy?

Abstract:We explore the possibility that our universe's current accelerated expansion is explained by a quintessence model with an exponential scalar potential, $V =V_0\, e^{-\lambda\, \phi}$, keeping an eye towards $\lambda \geq \sqrt{2}$ and an open universe, favorable to a string theory realisation and with no cosmological horizon. We work out the full cosmology of the model, including matter, radiation, and optionally negative spatial curvature, for all $\lambda>0$, performing an extensive analysis of the dynamical system and its phase space. The minimal physical requirements of a past epoch of radiation domination and an accelerated expansion today lead to an upper bound $\lambda \lesssim \sqrt{3}$, which is driven slightly up in the presence of observationally allowed spatial curvature. Cosmological solutions start universally in a kination epoch, go through radiation and matter dominated phases and enter an epoch of acceleration, which is only transient for $\lambda>\sqrt{2}$. Field distances traversed between BBN and today are sub-Planckian. We discuss possible string theory origins and phenomenological challenges, such as time variation of fundamental constants. We provide theoretical predictions for the model parameters to be fitted to data, most notably the varying dark energy equation of state parameter, in light of recent results from DES-Y5 and DESI.

Recent Efforts Towards Understanding the Early Universe from a Fundamental Quantum Perspective

Abstract:The observable universe is fundamentally inhomogeneous and anisotropic. Quantum description of the generation of these inhomogeneities and anisotropies is ill-understood and unsatisfactory. After providing a brief account of the standard approach of the generation of the classical density perturbations starting from the quantum fluctuations of inflaton field, I critically review various assumptions which are crucial for the success of this description, and point out various shortcomings around it. I also discuss the basic ideas and recent works by using an alternative path to overcome those shortcomings which is motivated by the so-called Collapse Model interpretation of quantum mechanics. Inspired by these works, I argue the necessity of constructing a class of manifestly inhomogeneous and anisotropic quantum states after inflation and discuss my recent works which provide one such prescription of building such a state, called the $T-$vacuum, defined in the radiation dominated stage of the early universe.

Abstract:We reconsider the problem of the interpretation of the Quantum Theory (QT) in the perspective of the entire universe and of Bphr idea that the classical language is the language of our experience and QT acquires a meaning only with a reference to it. We distinguish a classical or macroscopic level, and a quantum or microscopic one that is perceived only through the modifications that it induces in the first. The macroscopic state of the universe is assumed to be specified by a set of variables, a classical energy momentum tensor and some conserved currents, which are supposed to have a well defined value across the entire space-time. To the energy-momentum tensor a classical metric is related by the Einstein equation. The quantum state and dynamics are expressed by the usual QT formalism in terms of a density operator and the ordinary quantum operators in Heisenberg picture. For the macroscopic variables a basic distribution of probability is postulated in terms of a density and the corresponding quantum operators, so in some way their evolution is driven by the underlying QT. Such postulate essentially replaces the usual elfadjoint operators correspondence. For the Universe we adopt a variance of the {\Lambda}CDM model with Omega=1, one single inflaton with an Higgs type potential, the initial time at t=minus infinite. The expectation values of all fundamental fields are supposed to vanish for time going to minus infinite. In the framework the scalar fluctuation in the Cosmic Microwave Background are correctly explained giving appropriate calue to the parameters in the potential. As in more conventional models the absence of the tensor fluctuations remains not understood, if even a quantum metric is introduced. This seems to suggest that Gravity is a pure classical phenomenon, what could be consistently accommodated in our formalism by an appropriate even if somewhat ad hoc assumption

Dipole Cosmology: The Copernican Paradigm Beyond FLRW

Abstract:We introduce the $dipole$ $cosmological$ $principle$, the idea that the Universe is a maximally Copernican cosmology, compatible with a cosmic flow. It serves as the most symmetric paradigm that generalizes the FLRW ansatz, in light of the increasingly numerous (but still tentative) hints that have emerged in the last two decades for a non-kinematic component in the CMB dipole. Einstein equations in our "dipole cosmology" are still ordinary differential equations -- but instead of the two Friedmann equations, now we have four. The two new functions can be viewed as an anisotropic scale factor that breaks the isotropy group from $SO(3)$ to $U(1)$, and a "tilt" that captures the cosmic flow velocity. The result is an axially isotropic, tilted Bianchi V/VII$_h$ cosmology. We assess the possibility of model building within the dipole cosmology paradigm, and discuss the dynamics of expansion rate, anisotropic shear and tilt, in various examples. A key observation is that the cosmic flow (tilt) can grow even while the anisotropy (shear) dies down. Remarkably, this can happen even in an era of late time acceleration.

Abstract:Based on an analytically continued Riemannian foliated quantum gravity super-Hamiltonian, known as Branch Cut Quantum Gravity (BCQG) we propose a novel approach to investigating the effects of noncommutative geometry on a minisuperspace of variables, influencing the acceleration behavior of the universe's wave function and the cosmic scale factor. Noncommutativity is introduced through a deformation of the conventional Poisson algebra, enhanced with a symplectic metric. The resulting symplectic manifold provides a natural setting that enables an isomorphism between canonically conjugate dual vector spaces, spanning the BCQG cosmic scale factor and its complementary quantum counterpart. Using this formulation, we describe the dynamic evolution of the universe's wave function, the cosmic scale factor, and its complementary quantum image. Our results strongly suggest that the noncommutative algebra induces late-time accelerated growth of the wave function, the universe's scale factor, and its complementary quantum counterpart, offering a new perspective on explaining the accelerating cosmic expansion rate and the inflationary period. In contrast to the inflationary model, where inflation requires a remarkably fine-tuned set of initial conditions in a patch of the universe, analytically continued non-commutative foliated quantum gravity captures short and long scales, driving the evolutionary dynamics of the universe through a reconfiguration of the primordial cosmic content of matter and energy. This reconfiguration is encapsulated into a quantum field potential, which leads to the generation of relic gravitational waves, a topic for future investigation. Graphical representations and contour plots indicate a characteristic torsion (or twist) deformation of spacetime geometry. This result introduces new speculative elements regarding the reconfiguration of matter and energy as a driver of spacetime torsion deformation, generating relic gravitational waves and serving as an alternative topological mechanism for the universe's acceleration. However, these assumptions require further investigation.
