Abstract: We describe the proof that the period map from the Torelli space of Calabi-Yau manifolds to the classifying space of polarized Hodge structures is an embedding. The proof is based on the constructions of holomorphic affine structure on the Teichm\"uller space and Hodge metric completion of the Torelli space. A canonical global holomorphic section of the holomorphic $(n, 0)$ class on the Teichm\"uller space is constructed.

Abstract:Reformulations of Donaldson's "tamed to compatible" question are obtained in terms of spaces of exact forms on a compact almost complex manifold $(M^{2n},J)$. In dimension 4, we show that $J$ admits a compatible symplectic form if and only if $J$ admits tamed symplectic forms with arbitrarily given $J$-anti-invariant parts. Some observations about the cohomology of $J$-modified de Rham complexes are also made.

Abstract:Let $M$ be a closed symplectic manifold of dimension $2n$ with non-ellipticity. We can define an almost Kähler structure on $M$ by using the given symplectic form. Hence, we have a $\G=\pi_1(M)$-invariant almost Kähler structure on the universal covering, $\ti M$, of $M$. Using Darboux coordinate charts, we globally deform the given almost Kähler structure on $\ti M$ off a Lebesgue measure zero subset to obtain a $\G$-invariant Lipschitz Kähler flat structure on $\ti M$ which is $\G$-homotopy equivalent to the given almost Kähler structure. Analogous to Teleman's $L^2$-Hodge decomposition on PL manifolds or Lipschitz Riemannian manifolds, we give a $L^2$-Hodge decomposition theorem on $\ti M$ with respect to the Lipschitz Kähler flat metric. Using an argument of Gromov, we give a vanishing theorem for $L^2$ harmonic $p$-forms, $p\not=n$ (resp. a non-vanishing theorem for $L^2$ harmonic $n$-forms) on $\ti M$, then the signed Euler characteristic satisfies $(-1)^n\chi(M)\geq0$ (resp. $(-1)^n\chi(M)>0$). Similarly, for any closed even dimensional Riemannian manifold $(M, g)$, we can construct a $\G$-invariant Lipschitz Kähler flat structure on the universal covering, $(\ti M, \ti g)$, of $(M, g)$ which is $\G$-homotopy equivalent to and quasi-isometric to the metric $\ti g$. As an application, using Gromov's method we show that the Chern-Hopf conjecture holds true in closed even dimensional Riemannian manifolds with nonpositive curvature (resp. strictly negative curvature), it gives a positive answer to a Yau's problem due to S. S. Chern and H. Hopf.

Also, we extend the previous theorems when $h$ has at most linear growth in the distance function.

Abstract:Making use of 1-forms and geometric inequalities we prove the rigidity property of complete submanifolds Mn with parallel mean curvature normal in a complete and simply connected Riemannian (n+p)-manifold Nn+p with positive sectional curvature. For given integers n, p and for a nonnegative constant H we find a positive number tau(n, p) is an element of (0, 1) with the property that if the sectional curvature of N is pinched in [tau(n, p), 1], and if the squared norm of the second fundamental form is in a certain interval, then Nn+p is isometric to the standard unit (n+p)-sphere. As a consequence, such an M is congruent to one of the five models as seen in our Main Theorem.

A rigidity theorem for asymptotically flat static manifolds and its applications

Abstract:In this paper, we study the Minkowski-type inequality for asymptotically flat static manifolds $(M^{n}, g)$ with boundary and with dimension $ n < 8$ that was establishedby McCormick. First, we show that any asymptotically flat static $(M^{n},g)$ which achieves the equality and has CMC or equipotential boundary is isometric to a rotationally symmetric region of the Schwarzschild manifold. Then, we apply conformal techniques to derive a new Minkowski-type inequality for the level sets of bounded static potentials. Taken together, these provide a robust approach to detecting rotational symmetry of asymptotically flat static systems. As an application, we prove global uniqueness of static metric extensions for the Bartnik data induced by both Schwarzschild coordinate spheres and Euclidean coordinate spheres in dimension $n < 8$ under the natural condition of Schwarzschild stability. This generalizes an earlier result of Miao. We also establish uniqueness for equipotential photon surfaces with small Einstein-Hilbert energy. This is interesting to compare with other recent uniqueness results for static photon surfaces and black holes.

A generalization of the Cai--Galloway splitting theorem to smooth metric measure spaces

Abstract: We generalize the splitting theorem of Cai-Galloway for complete Riemannian manifolds with $\Ric\geq-(n-1)$ admitting a family of compact hypersurfaces tending to infinity with mean curvatures tending to $n-1$ sufficiently fast to the setting of smooth metric measure spaces. This result complements and provides a new perspective on the splitting theorems recently proven by Munteanu-Wang and Su-Zhang. We show that the mean curvature assumption in our result is sharp, which also provides an example showing that the assumption $R\geq-(n-1)$ in the Munteanu-Wang splitting theorem for expanding gradient Ricci solitons cannot be relaxed to $R>-n$. We also use our result to study a certain class of conformally compact quasi-Einstein metrics, giving, as generalizations of respective results of Cai-Galloway and Lee, necessary conditions for the boundary to be connected and for the bottom of the spectrum of the weighted Laplacian to be maximal.
A note on rational homology vanishing theorem for hypersurfaces in aspherical manifolds

Abstract:In this note, we generalize Gromov's reduction \cite{Gro20} from the aspherical conjecture to the generalized filling radius conjecture to the smooth $\mathbb Q$-homology vanishing conjecture for hypersurface. In particular, we can show that any continuous map from a closed $4$-manifold admitting positive scalar curvature to an aspherical $5$-manifold induces zero map in $H_4(\cdot,\mathbb Q)$. As a corollary, we obtain the following splitting theorem: if a complete aspherical $5$-manifold has nonnegative scalar curvature and two ends, then it splits into the Riemannian product of a closed flat manifold and the real line.

Abstract:Using Hodge theory and Banach fixed point theorem, Liu and Zhu developed a global method to deal with various problems in deformation theory. In this note, the authors generalize Liu-Zhu's method to treat two deformation problems for non-Kähler manifolds. They apply the -Hodge theory to construct a deformation formula for ( p, q )-forms of compact complex manifold under deformations, which can be used to study the Hodge number of complex manifold under deformations. In the second part of this note, by using the -Hodge theory, they provide a simple proof of the unobstructed deformation theorem for the non-Kähler Calabi-Yau -manifolds.

Notes on symplectic squeezing in $T^* \mathbb T^n$ and spectra of Finsler dynamics

Abstract:In this paper, on the one hand, we prove that for $n \geq 2$ any subbundle of $T^* \mathbb T^n$ with bounded fibers symplectically embeds into a trivial subbundle of $T^* \mathbb T^n$ where the fiber is an irrational cylinder. This not only resolves an open problem in Gong-Xue's recent work (which was stated for the 4-dimension case, that is, $n =2$) and also generalizes to any higher-dimensional situation. The proof is based on some version of Dirichlet's approximation theorem. On the other hand, we generalize a main result in Gong-Xue's work mentioned above, showing that any topologically trivial Liouville diffeomorphism on $T^*M$ (for instance, a diffeomorphism induced by an isometry on $M$) does not change the full marked length spectrum of a Finsler metric $F$ on $M$, up to a lifting of the Finsler metric $F$ to the unit codisk bundle $D^*_FM$. The proof is based on persistence module theory.

Abstract:In this paper we introduce a mass for asymptotically flat manifolds by using the Gauss–Bonnet curvature. We first prove that the mass is well-defined and is a geometric invariant, if the Gauss–Bonnet curvature is integrable and the decay order τ satisfies τ>n−43. Motivated by an elegant idea of Lam [35], we then show a positive mass theorem for this new mass for asymptotically flat graphs over Rn. Moreover we obtain various Penrose type inequalities in this case. In these Penrose type inequalities we establish relationship between the new mass and various geometric integrals.
