Abstract:The Leech lattice, $\Lambda_{24}$, is represented on the space of octonionic 3-vectors. It is built from two octonionic representations of $E_{8}$, and is reached via $\Lambda_{16}$. It is invariant under the octonion index cycling and doubling maps.

Abstract:Before we dive into the accessibility stream of nowadays indicatory applications of octonions to computer and other sciences and to quantum physics let us focus for a while on the crucially relevant events for todays revival on interest to nonassociativity. Our reflections keep wandering back to the $Brahmagupta$ $Fibonacc$ two square identity and then via the $Euler$ four square identity up to the $Degen$ $Ggraves$ $Cayley$ eight square identity. These glimpses of history incline and invite us to retell the story on how about one month after quaternions have been carved on the $Broughamian$ bridge octonions were discovered by $John$ $Thomas$ $Ggraves$, jurist and mathematician, a friend of $William$ $Rowan$ $Hamilton$. As for today we just mention en passant quaternionic and octonionic quantum mechanics, generalization of $Cauchy$ $Riemann$ equations for octonions and triality principle and $G_2$ group in spinor language in a descriptive way in order not to daunt non specialists. Relation to finite geometries is recalled and the links to the 7stones of seven sphere, seven imaginary octonions units in out of the $Plato$ cave reality applications are appointed . This way we are welcomed back to primary ideas of $Heisenberg$, $Wheeler$ and other distinguished fathers of quantum mechanics and quantum gravity foundations.

Abstract:There is a well-established dictionary between zonotopes, hyperplane arrangements, and their (oriented) matroids. Arguably one of the most famous examples is the class of graphical zonotopes, also called acyclotopes, which encode subzonotopes of the type-A root polytope, the permutahedron. Stanley (1991) gave a general interpretation of the coefficients of the Ehrhart polynomial (integer-point counting function for a polytope) of a zonotope via linearly independent subsets of its generators. Applying this to the graphical case shows that Ehrhart coefficients count induced forests of the graph of fixed sizes. Our first goal is to extend and popularize this story to other root systems, which on the combinatorial side is encoded by signed graphs analogously to the work by Greene and Zaslavsky (1983). We compute the Ehrhart polynomial of the acyclotope in the signed case, and we give a matroid-dual construction, giving rise to tocyclotopes, and compute their Ehrhart polynomials. Applying the same duality construction to a general integral matrix gives rise to a lattice Gale zonotope, whose face structure was studies by McMullen (1971) and whose duality nature is a special instance of D'Adderio--Moci's arithmetic matroids. We describe its Ehrhart polynomials in terms of the given matrix.

Application of the Weyl calculus perspective on discrete octonionic analysis in bounded domains

Abstract:In this paper, we finish the basic development of the discrete octonionic analysis by presenting a Weyl calculus-based approach to bounded domains in $\mathbb{R}^{8}$. In particular, we explicitly prove the discrete Stokes formula for a bounded cuboid, and then we generalise this result to arbitrary bounded domains in interior and exterior settings by the help of characteristic functions. After that, discrete interior and exterior Borel-Pompeiu and Cauchy formulae are introduced. Finally, we recall the construction of discrete octonionic Hardy spaces for bounded domains. Moreover, we explicitly explain where the non-associativity of octonionic multiplication is essential and where it is not. Thus, this paper completes the basic framework of the discrete octonionic analysis introduced in previous papers, and, hence, provides a solid foundation for further studies in this field.

Abstract:In this paper, we continue the development of a fundament of discrete octonionic analysis that is associated to the discrete first order Cauchy-Riemann operator acting on octonions. In particular, we establish a discrete octonionic version of the Borel-Pompeiu formula and of Cauchy's integral formula. The latter then is exploited to introduce a discrete monogenic octonionic Cauchy transform. This tool in hand allows us to introduce discrete octonionic Hardy spaces for upper and lower half-space together with Plemelj projection formulae.

Abstract:In this article, we will give an affirmative answer to Gilbert's conjecture on Hardy spaces of Clifford analytic functions in upper half-space of . It is based on an explicit construction of Clifford algebra and Spinor space by octonion algebra. Furthermore, it provides an associative approach to the theory of octonionic analytic functions. Additionally, certain classical results about octonionic analytic functions have been reformulated, and a related subject has been treated in Octonionic Hardy space in upper half-space.

Octonion Algebras over Schemes and the Equivalence of Isotopes and Isometric Quadratic Forms

Abstract:Octonion algebras are certain algebras with a multiplicative quadratic form. In their 2019 article, Alsaody and Gille show that, for octonion algebras over unital commutative rings, there is an equivalence between isotopes and isometric quadratic forms. The contravariant equivalence from unital commutative rings to affine schemes, sending a ring to its spectrum, leads us to a question: can the equivalence of isotopy and isometry be generalized to octonion algebras over a (not necessarily affine) scheme? We present the basic definitions and properties of octonion algebras, both over rings and over schemes. Then we show that an isotope of an octonion algebra C over a scheme is isomorphic to a twist by an Aut(C)-torsor. We conclude the thesis by giving an affirmative answer to our question.

Abstract:In this paper we discuss some basic properties of octonionic Bergman and Hardy spaces. In the first part we review some fundamental concepts of the general theory of octonionic Hardy and Bergman spaces together with related reproducing kernel functions in the monogenic setting. We explain how some of the fundamental problems in well-defining a reproducing kernel can be overcome in the non-associative setting by looking at the real part of an appropriately defined para-linear octonion-valued inner product. The presence of a weight factor of norm $1$ in the definition of the inner product is an intrinsic new ingredient in the octonionic setting. Then we look at the slice monogenic octonionic setting using the classical complex book structure. We present explicit formulas for the slice monogenic reproducing kernels for the unit ball, the right octonionic half-space and strip domains bounded in the real direction. In the setting of the unit ball we present an explicit sequential characterization which can be obtained by applying the special Taylor series representation of the slice monogenic setting together with particular octonionic calculation rules that reflect the property of octonionic para-linearity.

On some combinatorial sequences associated to invariant theory

Abstract:We study the enumerative and analytic properties of some sequences constructed using tensor invariant theory. The octant sequences are constructed from the exceptional Lie group $G_2$ and the quadrant sequences from the special linear group $SL(3)$. In each case we show that the corresponding sequences are related by binomial transforms. The first three octant sequences and the first four quadrant sequences are listed in the On-Line Encyclopedia of Integer Sequences (OEIS). These sequences all have interpretations as enumerating two-dimensional lattice walks but for the octant sequences the boundary conditions are unconventional. These sequences are all P-recursive and we give the corresponding recurrence relations. In all cases the associated differential operators are of third order and have the remarkable property that they can be solved to give closed formulae for the ordinary generating functions in terms of classical Gaussian hypergeometric functions. Moreover, we show that the octant sequences and the quadrant sequences are related by the branching rules for the inclusion of $SL(3)$ in $G_2$.

Abstract:We study the quantum degeneracies of BPS black holes of octonionic magical supergravity in five dimensions that is defined by the exceptional Jordan algebra. We define the quantum degeneracy purely number theoretically as the number of distinct states in the charge space with a given set of invariant labels of the discrete U-duality group. We argue that the quantum degeneracies of spherically symmetric stationary BPS black holes of octonionic magical supergravity in five dimensions are given by the Fourier coefficients of the modular forms of the exceptional group $E_{7(-25)}$. The charges of the black holes take values in the lattice defined by the exceptional Jordan algebra $J_3^{\mathbb{O}}(\mathcal{R})$ over integral octonions $\mathcal{R}$. The quantum degeneracies of charge states of rank one and rank two BPS black holes (zero area) are given by the Fourier coefficients of singular modular forms $E_4(Z)$ and $E_8(Z)=(E_4(Z))^2$ of $E_{7(-25)}(Z)$. The rank 3 (large) BPS black holes will be studied elsewhere. Following the work of N. Elkies and B. Gross on the embeddings of cubic rings $A$ into the exceptional Jordan algebra and their actions on the 24 dimensional orthogonal quadratic subspace of $J_3^{\mathbb{O}}(\mathcal{R})$, we show that the quantum degeneracies of rank one black holes described by such embeddings are given by the Fourier coefficients of the Hilbert modular forms of $SL(2,A)$. If the discriminant of the cubic ring $A$ is $D=p^2$ with $p$ a prime number then the isotropic lines in the 24 dimensional quadratic space define a pair of Niemeier lattices which can be taken as charge lattices of some BPS black holes. For $p=7$ they are the Leech lattice with no roots and the lattice $A_6^4$ with 168 root vectors. We also review the current status of the searches for the M/superstring theoretic origins of the octonionic magical supergravity.

Abstract:We discuss the octonionic regular functions and the octonionic regular operator on the octonionic Heisenberg group. This is the octonionic version of CR function theory in the theory of several complex variables and regular function theory on the quaternionic Heisenberg group. By identifying the octonionic algebra with $\mathbb{R }^{8}$, we can write the octonionic regular operator and the associated Laplacian operator as real $(8\times 8)$-matrix differential operators. Then we use the group Fourier transform on the octonionic Heisenberg group to analyze the associated Laplacian operator and to construct its kernel. This kernel is exactly the Szegö kernel of the orthonormal projection from the space of $L^{2}$ functions to the space of $L^{2}$ regular functions on the octonionic Heisenberg group.

Abstract:Let $L$ be the language of rings. We provide an axiomatization of the $L$-theories of quaternions and octonions and we characterize the models of mentioned theories: they coincide, up to isomorphism, to quaternion and octonion algebras over a real closed field, respectively. We prove these theories are complete, model complete and they do not have quantifier elimination. Then, we focus on the class of ordered polynomials. Over $\mathbb{H}$ and $\mathbb{O}$ these polynomials are of special interest in hypercomplex analysis since they are slice regular. We deduce some fundamental properties of the zero loci of ordered polynomials from completeness and we prove the failure of quantifier elimination for the fragment of ordered formulas.

Abstract:We construct a counterexample to a well-known extension theorem for slice regular functions, which motivates us to develop a theory of Riemann slice-domains by introducing a new topology on quaternions. By some paths describing axial symmetry in Riemann slice-domains, we rectify the classical extension formula in the theory of slice regular functions and prove a representation formula over slice-domains of regularity. This proof involves an intertwining relation between imaginary units of quaternions and a fixed matrix corresponding to a complex structure.
