Abstract:A succinct and systematic form of multiplication for any arbitrary pairs of octonions is devised. A typical expression of multiplication for any pair of octonions involves 64 terms, which, from the computational and theoretical aspect, is too cumbersome. In addition, its internal relation could not be directly visualized via the expression per se. In this article, we study the internal structures of the indexes between imaginary unit octonions. It is then revealed by various copies of isomorphic structures for the multiplication. We isolate one copy and define a multiplicative structure on this. By doing so, we could keep track of all relations between indexes and the signs for cyclic permutations. The final form of our device is expressed in the form of a series of determinants, which shall offer some direct intuition about octonion multiplication and facilitate the further computational aspect of applications.

Octonion Algebras over Schemes and the Equivalence of Isotopes and Isometric Quadratic Forms

Abstract:Octonion algebras are certain algebras with a multiplicative quadratic form. In their 2019 article, Alsaody and Gille show that, for octonion algebras over unital commutative rings, there is an equivalence between isotopes and isometric quadratic forms. The contravariant equivalence from unital commutative rings to affine schemes, sending a ring to its spectrum, leads us to a question: can the equivalence of isotopy and isometry be generalized to octonion algebras over a (not necessarily affine) scheme? We present the basic definitions and properties of octonion algebras, both over rings and over schemes. Then we show that an isotope of an octonion algebra C over a scheme is isomorphic to a twist by an Aut(C)-torsor. We conclude the thesis by giving an affirmative answer to our question.

Abstract:Before we dive into the accessibility stream of nowadays indicatory applications of octonions to computer and other sciences and to quantum physics let us focus for a while on the crucially relevant events for todays revival on interest to nonassociativity. Our reflections keep wandering back to the $Brahmagupta$ $Fibonacc$ two square identity and then via the $Euler$ four square identity up to the $Degen$ $Ggraves$ $Cayley$ eight square identity. These glimpses of history incline and invite us to retell the story on how about one month after quaternions have been carved on the $Broughamian$ bridge octonions were discovered by $John$ $Thomas$ $Ggraves$, jurist and mathematician, a friend of $William$ $Rowan$ $Hamilton$. As for today we just mention en passant quaternionic and octonionic quantum mechanics, generalization of $Cauchy$ $Riemann$ equations for octonions and triality principle and $G_2$ group in spinor language in a descriptive way in order not to daunt non specialists. Relation to finite geometries is recalled and the links to the 7stones of seven sphere, seven imaginary octonions units in out of the $Plato$ cave reality applications are appointed . This way we are welcomed back to primary ideas of $Heisenberg$, $Wheeler$ and other distinguished fathers of quantum mechanics and quantum gravity foundations.

Abstract:In recent years, there is a growing interest in the studying octonions, which are 8-dimensional hypercomplex numbers forming the biggest normed division algebras over the real numbers. In particular, various tools of the classical complex function theory have been extended to the octonionic setting in recent years. However not so many results related to a discrete octonionic analysis, which is relevant for various applications in quantum mechanics, have been presented so far. Therefore, in this paper, we present first ideas towards discrete octonionic analysis. In particular, we discuss several approaches to a discretisation of octonionic analysis and present several discrete octonionic Stokes' formulae.

Abstract:The aim of this article is to characterize the octonionic submodules generated by one element, which is very complicated compared with other normed division algebras. To this end, we introduce a novel identity that elucidates the relationship between the commutator and associator within an octonionic bimodule. Remarkably, the commutator can be expressed in terms of the linear combination of associators. This phenomenon starkly contrasts with the quaternionic case, which leads to a unique right octonionic scalar multiplication compatible with the original left octonionic module structure in the sense of forming an octonionic bimodule. With the help of this identity, we get a new expression of the real part and imaginary part of an element in an octonionic bimodule. Ultimately, we obtain that the submodule generated by one element x is instead of .

Abstract:We extend the quantum geometric tensor from the state space to the operator level,and investigate its properties like the additivity for factorizable models and the splitting of two kinds contributions for the case of stationary reference states. This operator-quantum-geometric tensor (OQGT) is shown to reflect the sensitivity of unitary operations against perturbations of multi parameters. General results for the cases of time evolutions with given stationary reference states are obtained. By this approach, we get exact results for the rotated XY models, and show relations between the OQGT and quantum criticality.

Abstract:The dose received by 90% of the prostate volume (D90) is the key parameter of dosimetric analysis in prostate brachytherapy. The aim of this analysis was to identify preimplant factors affecting prostate D90 after transperineal interstitial prostate brachytherapy with loose (125)I seeds. We reviewed the records of 210 patients who underwent transperineal interstitial prostate brachytherapy with loose (125)I seeds for clinical T1/T2 prostate cancer at our institution. Patients who received supplemental external-beam radiation therapy were excluded. One hundred and nine patients (51.9%) received neoadjuvant hormonal therapy (NHT). One month after seed implantation, postimplant computed tomography and dosimetric analysis were performed. Univariate and multivariate analyses were carried out to identify preimplant factors affecting postimplant prostate D90. The postimplant prostate D90 values ranged from 123.3 to 234.1 Gy (mean ± standard error, 177.1 ± 1.4 Gy). Postimplant prostate D90 differed significantly between patients who had and had not undergone NHT (P = 0.001). In addition, simple regression analyses showed positive correlations with the estimated preimplant prostate D90, preimplant prostate volume by transrectal ultrasound (TRUS), total radioactivity, number of needles, and number of seeds. On stepwise multiple regression analysis, postimplant prostate D90 showed significant negative correlations with NHT and preimplant prostate volume by TRUS, and a significant positive correlation with total radioactivity. In conclusion, NHT, preimplant prostate volume by TRUS, and total radioactivity are significant preimplant factors affecting postimplant prostate D90 in prostate cancer patients treated with transperineal interstitial prostate brachytherapy with loose (125)I seeds.

Abstract:By using a real matrix translation, we propose a coupled eigenvalue problem for octonionic operators. In view of possible applications in quantum mechanics, we also discuss the hermiticity of such operators. Previous difficulties in formulating a consistent octonionic Hilbert space are solved by using the new coupled eigenvalue problem and introducing an appropriate scalar product for the probability amplitudes.

Abstract:Matrix product states play an important role in quantum information theory to represent states of many-body systems. They can be seen as low-dimensional subvarieties of a high-dimensional tensor space. In these notes, we consider two variants: homogeneous matrix product states and uniform matrix product states. Studying the linear spans of these varieties leads to a natural connection with invariant theory of matrices. For homogeneous matrix product states, a classical result on polynomial identities of matrices leads to a formula for the dimension of the linear span, in the case of 2x2 matrices. These notes are based partially on a talk given by the author at the University of Warsaw during the thematic semester "AGATES: Algebraic Geometry with Applications to TEnsors and Secants", and partially on further research done during the semester. This is still a preliminary version; an updated version will be uploaded over the course of 2023.

Abstract:Product identities in two variables $x, q$ expand infinite products as infinite sums, which are linear combinations of theta functions; famous examples include Jacobi's triple product identity, Watson's quintuple identity, and Hirschhorn's septuple identity. We view these series expansions as representations in canonical bases of certain vector spaces of quasiperiodic meromorphic functions (related to sections of line and vector bundles), and find new identities for two nonuple products, an undecuple product, and several two-variable Rogers-Ramanujan type sums. Our main theorem explains a correspondence between the septuple product identity and the two original Rogers-Ramanujan identities, involving two-variable analogues of fifth-order mock theta functions. We also prove a similar correspondence between an octuple product identity of Ewell and two simpler variations of the Rogers-Ramanujan identities, which is related to third-order mock theta functions, and conjecture other occurrences of this phenomenon. As applications, we specialize our results to obtain identities for quotients of generalized Dedekind eta functions and mock theta functions.

Abstract:We curry the elementary arithmetic operations of addition and multiplication to give monotone injections on N, and describe & study the inverse monoids that arise from also considering their generalised inverses. This leads to well-known classic inverse monoids, as well as a novel inverse monoid (the 'arithmetic inverse monoid' A) that generalises these in a natural number-theoretic manner. Based on this, we interpret classic inverse semigroup theoretic concepts arithmetically, and vice versa. Composition and normal forms within A are based on the Chinese remainder theorem, and a minimal generating set corresponds to all prime-order polycyclic monoids. This then gives a close connection between Nivat & Perot's normal forms for polycyclic monoids, mixed-radix counting systems, and p-adic norms & distances.

Abstract:Octonions are 8-dimensional hypercomplex numbers which form the biggest normed division algebras over the real numbers. Motivated by applications in theoretical physics, continuous octonionic analysis has become an area of active research in recent year. Looking at possible practical applications, it is beneficial to work directly with discrete structures, rather than approximate continuous objects. Therefore, in previous papers, we have proposed some ideas towards the discrete octonionic analysis. It is well known, that there are several possibilities to discretise the continuous setting, and the Weyl calculus approach, which is typically used in the discrete Clifford analysis, to octonions has not been studied yet. Therefore, in this paper, we close this gap by presenting the discretisation of octonionic analysis based on the Weyl calculus.

Abstract:The aim of this paper is to study the properties of the Möbius addition under the action of the gyration operator gyr [ a , b ], and the relation between -translation defined by the Möbius addition and the generalized Laplace–Beltrami operator in the octonionic space. Despite the challenges posed by the non-associativity and non-commutativity of octonions, Möbius addition still exhibits many significant properties in the octonionic space, such as the left cancellation law and the gyrocommutative law. We introduce a novel approach to computing the Jacobian determinant of Möbius addition. Then, we discover that the gyration operator is closely related to the Jacobian matrix of Möbius addition. Importantly, we determine that the distinction between and is a specific orthogonal matrix factor. Finally, we demonstrate that the -translation is a unitary operator in and it commutes with the generalized Laplace–Beltrami operator in the octonionic space.

Abstract:We discuss the octonionic regular functions and the octonionic regular operator on the octonionic Heisenberg group. This is the octonionic version of CR function theory in the theory of several complex variables and regular function theory on the quaternionic Heisenberg group. By identifying the octonionic algebra with $\mathbb{R }^{8}$, we can write the octonionic regular operator and the associated Laplacian operator as real $(8\times 8)$-matrix differential operators. Then we use the group Fourier transform on the octonionic Heisenberg group to analyze the associated Laplacian operator and to construct its kernel. This kernel is exactly the Szegö kernel of the orthonormal projection from the space of $L^{2}$ functions to the space of $L^{2}$ regular functions on the octonionic Heisenberg group.
