Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the color changes of gravitational microlensing events caused by the two different mechanisms of differential amplification for a limb-darkened extended source and blending. From this investigation, we find that the color changes of limb-darkened extended source events (color curves) have dramatically different characteristics depending on whether the lens transits the source star or not. We show that for a source transit event, the lens proper motion can be determined by simply measuring the turning time of the color curve instead of fitting the overall color or light curves. We also find that even for a very small fraction of blended light, the color changes induced by the blending effect is equivalent to those caused by the limb-darkening effect, causing serious distortion in the observed color curve. Therefore, to obtain useful information about the lens and source star from the color curve of a limb-darkened extended source event, it will be essential to eliminate or correct for the blending effect. We discuss about the methods for the efficient correction of the blending effect.

Abstract:Recent improvements of the hard scattering picture for exclusive reactions, namely the inclusion of both Sudakov corrections and the intrinsic transverse momentum dependence of the hadronic wave function, are reviewed. On account of these improvements the perturbative contribution to the pion's form factor can be calculated in a theoretically self-consistent way for momentum transfers as low about $2\,{\rm GeV}$. This is achieved at the expense of a substantial suppression of the perturbative contribution in the few GeV region. Eventual higher twist contributions are also discussed.\\

Abstract:Generalized parton distributions of the nucleon are accessed via exclusive leptoproduction of the real photon. While earlier analytical considerations of phenomenological observables were restricted to twist-three accuracy, i.e., taking into account only terms suppressed by a single power of the hard scale, in the present study we revisit this differential cross section within the helicity formalism and restore power-suppressed effects stemming from the process kinematics exactly. We restrict ourselves to the phenomenologically important case of lepton scattering off a longitudinally polarized nucleon, where the photon flips its helicity at most by one unit.

Abstract:We discuss electron-positron pair-production by super-intense, short laser pulses off the physical vacuum state locally deformed by (stripped) nuclei with large nuclear charges. Consequences of non-perturbative vacuum polarisation resulting from such a deformation are shortly broached. Production probabilities per pulse are calculated.

Comparisons are made with recent experimental data, in order to extract information on the peculiarity of the nuclear structure under extreme conditions and to test the accuracy of the available theoretical methods. Probing positivity at the LHC with exclusive photon-fusion processes

Abstract:By tagging one or two intact protons in the forward direction, it is possible to select and measure exclusive photon-fusion processes at the LHC. The same processes can also be measured in heavy ion collisions, and are often denoted as ultraperipheral collisions (UPC) processes. Such measurements open up the possibility of probing certain dimension-8 operators and their positivity bounds at the LHC. As a demonstration, we perform a phenomenological study on the γγ → l + l − processes, and find out that the measurements of this process at the HL-LHC provide reaches on a set of dimension-8 operator coefficients that are comparable to the ones at future lepton colliders. We also point out that the γq → γq process could potentially have better reaches on similar types of operators due to its larger cross section, but a more detailed experimental study is need to estimate the signal and background rates of this process. The validity of effective field theory (EFT) and the robustness of the positivity interpretation are also discussed.

Abstract:The subject of the first section-lecture is concerned with the strength and the weakness of the perturbation theory (PT) approach, that is expansion in powers of a small parameter $\alpha$, in Quantum Theory. We start with outlining a general troublesome feature of the main quantum theory instrument, the perturbation expansion method. The striking issue is that perturbation series in powers of $\alpha \ll 1$ is not a convergent series. The formal reason is an essential singularity of quantum amplitude (matrix element) $C(\alpha)$ at the origin $\alpha=0$. In many physically important cases one needs some alternative means of theoretical analysis. In particular, this refers to perturbative QCD (pQCD) in the low-energy domain. In the second section-lecture, we discuss the approach of Analytic Perturbation Theory (APT). We start with a short historic preamble and then discuss how combining the Dispersion Relation with the Renormalization Group (RG) techniques yields the APT with \myMath{\displaystyle e^{-1/\alpha}} nonanalyticity. Next we consider the results of APT applications to low-energy QCD processes and show that in this approach the fourth-loop contributions, which appear to be on the asymptotic border in the pQCD approach, are of the order of a few per mil. Then we note that using the RG in QCD dictates the need to use the Fractional APT (FAPT) and describe its basic ingredients. As an example of the FAPT application in QCD we consider the pion form factor $F_\pi(Q^2)$ calculation. At the end, we discuss the resummation of nonpower series in {(F)APT} with application to the estimation of the Higgs-boson-decay width $\Gamma_{H\to\bar{b}b}(m_H^2)$.

Abstract:The exclusive processes e(+)e(-)-> VP, in the region of which the final state meson momentum is much larger than the hadronic scale Lambda(QCD), are studied in the framework of the perturbative quantum chromodynamics (PQCD) approach based on the k(T) factorization. Including the transverse momentum distribution in the light-cone wave functions, our results are consistent with the experimental measurements. According to our results, many processes have large enough cross sections to be detected at root s=10.58 GeV. The s dependence of the cross section has been directly studied and our result indicates that the 1/s(3) scaling is more favored than 1/s(4). We also find that the gluonic contribution for the processes involving eta((')) is tiny.

Abstract:Deep-inelastic scattering at small x is a new field of QCD phenomenology which HERA experiments started to explore. The data show the feature expected by the perturbative Regge asymptotics. We describe the parton picture of structure function evolution both for increasing $Q^2$ and for decreasing $x$ and discuss the leading logarithmic approximation of QCD on which this picture is based. The steep rise of the parton density towards smaller $x$ gets saturated by parton recombination. An essential improvement of the leading logarithmic approximation has to be worked out in order to satisfy the unitarity conditions and in this way to describe the parton recombination in perturbative QCD. We review some ideas of the perturbative Regge asymptotics and some recent theoretical results about multi-reggeon exchange in QCD. Talk at the Tennessee Intern. Symposium on Rad. Abstract:Production of hadron exotics in high energy processes may play a role in unravelling their nature. In high energy limit, the leading power behavior of the cross section of exclusive processes is usually encoded in the constituent counting rule. In this talk I will demonstrate for the process involving hadrons with hidden flavors the constituent counting rule requests modifications. I will use effective field theory to derive the power scalings. After the e + e − → VP example I will discuss the production of hadron exotics including the X (3872) and Z± c in high energy process. I will also briefly talk about the challenge of the molecular interpretation of X (3872) based on its large production rates in hadron collisions.
Perturbative QCD concerning light and heavy flavor in the EPOS4 framework

Abstract:We recently introduced new concepts, implemented in EPOS4, which allow to consistently accommodate factorization and saturation in high energy proton-proton and nucleus-nucleus collisions, in a rigorous parallel scattering framework. EPOS4 has a modular structure and in this paper, we present in detail how the "single scattering module" (the main EPOS4 building block) is related to perturbative QCD, and how these calculations are performed, with particular care being devoted to heavy flavor contributions. We discuss similarities and differences compared to the usual pQCD approach based on factorization.

Abstract:We study the e(+) e(-) -> VP and e(+) e(-) -> TP processes in the perturbative QCD approach based on k(r) factorization, where the P, V and T denotes a light pseudoscalar, vector, and tensor meson, respectively. We point out in the case of e(+) e(-) -> TP transition due to charge conjugation invariance, only three channels are allowed: e(+) e(-) -> a(2)(+/-)pi(-/+), e(+) e(-) -> K-2*K-+/-(-/+) and the V-spin suppressed e(+) e(-) -> K-2*(0)(K) over bar (0) + K-2*(0)(K) over bar (0). Cross sections of e(+) e(-) -> VP and e(+) e(-) -> TP at root s = 3.67 GeV and root s = 10.58 GeV are calculated and the invariant mass dependence is found to favor the 1/s(4) power law. Most of our theoretical results are consistent with the available experimental data and other predictions can be tested at the ongoing BESIII and forthcoming Belle-II experiments.

Abstract:In this lecture we review recent progress in various aspects of non-equilibrium QFT with respect to relativistic heavy ion collisions. As a first and rather general study we summarize our (numerical) investigations for a dissipative quantum time evolution of $\phi^4$-field theory for a spatially homogeneous system in 2+1 space-time dimensions on the basis of the Kadanoff-Baym equations. The initial conditions can be chosen arbitrarily and far from equilibrium. The calculations demonstrate how thermalization and chemical equilibration is achieved ab initio from the underlying QFT. As a possible candidate for a non-equilibrium phase transition phenomena we then adress the stochastic formation of disoriented chiral condensates. Finally we elaborate on a new 3+1 dimensional Monte Carlo parton cascade solving kinetic Boltzmann processes including inelastic multiplication processes (gg<->ggg) in an unified manner, where the back reaction channel is treated for the first time fully consistently.

Exclusive $J/Ψ$ plus jet associated production in ultraperipheral $PbPb$ collisions

Abstract:The study of exclusive processes in ultraperipheral collisions at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) has allowed us to test several aspects of the Standard Model and to search for New Physics. In this letter, we investigate the possibility of using these processes to improve our understanding of the quarkonium production mechanism through the study of the exclusive $J/\Psi$ plus jet associate production in ultraperipheral $PbPb$ collisions. We estimate the transverse - momentum and rapidity distributions considering that the $\gamma \gamma \rightarrow J/\Psi + X$ ($X = \gamma, \, g$) subprocess is described by the Non - Relativistic QCD (NRQCD) formalism and present predictions for the rapidity ranges covered by central and forward detectors. The experimental separation of these events is discussed and the results indicate that a future experimental analysis is, in principle, feasible in future runs of the LHC and the Future Circular Collider (FCC).
