Abstract:Rigidity dimension is a new homological dimension which is intended to measure the quality of the best resolution of an algebra. In this paper, we determine the rigidity dimensions of self-injective Nakayama agebras A_{n,m} with n simple modules and the Loewy length m>=n.

Abstract:The rigidity degree of a generator-cogenerator determines the dominant dimension of its endomorphism algebra, and is closely related to a recently introduced homological dimension — rigidity dimension. In this paper, we give explicit formulae for the rigidity degrees of all indecomposable modules over representation-finite self-injective algebras by developing combinatorial methods from the Euclidean algorithm. As an application, the rigidity dimensions of some algebras of types A and E are given.

Abstract:We discuss certain homological properties of graded algebras whose trivial modules admit nonpure resolutions. Such algebras include both of Artin-Schelter regular algebras of types (12221) and (13431). Abstract:In LM, we proved a family version of the famous Witten rigidity theorems and several family vanishing theorems for elliptic genera. In this paper, we gerenalize our theorems LM in two directions. First we establish a family rigidity theorem for the Dirac operator on loop space twisted by general positive energy loop group representations. Second we prove a family rigidity theorem for spin^c-manifolds. Several vanishing theorems on both cases are also obtained.

Abstract:The magnitude for algebras is a generalization of the Euler characteristic. We investigate the magnitude for Nakayama algebras. Using Ringel's resolution quiver, the existence and the value of rational magnitude is given. As a result, we show that the finite global dimension criteria for Nakayama algebras of Madsen and the first author are equivalent.

Abstract:Let $A$ be a Nakayama algebra with $n$ simple modules and a simple module $S$ of even projective dimension $m$. Choose $m$ minimal such that a simple $A$-module with projective dimension $2m$ exists, then we show that the global dimension of $A$ is bounded by $n+m-1$. This gives a combined generalisation of results of Gustafson \cite{Gus} and Madsen \cite{Mad}. In \cite{Bro}, Brown proved that the global dimension of quasi-hereditary Nakayama algebras with $n$ simple modules is bounded by $n$. Using our result on the bounds of global dimensions of Nakayama algebras, we give a short new proof of this result and generalise Brown's result from quasi-hereditary to standardly stratified Nakayama algebras, where the global dimension is replaced with the finitistic dimension.

Abstract:Given an associative $\mathbb{C}$-algebra $A$, we call $A$ strongly rigid if for any pair of finite subgroups of its automorphism groups $G, H,$ such that $A^G\cong A^H$, then $G$ and $H$ must be isomorphic. In this paper we show that a large class of filtered quantizations are strongly rigid. We also prove several other rigidity type results for various quantum algebras. For example, we show that given two non-isomorphic complex semi-simple Lie algebras $\mathfrak{g}_1, \mathfrak{g}_2$ of equal dimension, there are no injective $\mathbb{C}$-algebra homomorphisms between their enveloping algebras. We also show that any finite subgroup of automorphisms of a central reduction of a finite $W$-algebra $W_{\chi}(\mathfrak{g}, e)$ must be isomorphic to a subgroup of $Aut(\mathfrak{g}(e)).$ We solve the inverse Galois problem for a wide class of rational Cherednik algebras that includes all (simple) classical generalized Weyl algebras, and also for quantum tori. Finally, we show that the Picard group of an $n$-dimensional quantum torus $A_q$ (with $q$ not a root of unity) is isomorphic to the group of outer automorphisms of $A_q$, generalizing a result by Berest, Ramados and Tang.

Abstract:Optimal upper bounds are provided for the dominant dimensions of Nakayama algebras and more generally algebras $A$ with an idempotent $e$ such that there is a minimal faithful injective-projective module $eA$ and such that $eAe$ is a Nakayama algebra. This answers a question of Abrar and proves a conjecture of Yamagata for monomial algebras.

Abstract:Let A = kQ/I be a finite-dimensional basic algebra over an algebraically closed field k which is a gentle algebra with the marked ribbon surface . It is known that can be divided into some elementary polygons {Δ i ∣ 1 ⩽ i ⩽ d } by Γ A which has exactly one side in the boundary of . Let C(Δ i ) be the number of sides of Δ i belonging to Γ A if the unmarked boundary component of is not a side of Δ i ; otherwise, C(Δ i ) = ∞, and let f-Δ be the set of all the non-∞-elementary polygons and (resp. ) be the set of all the forbidden threads (resp. of finite length). Then we have the global dimension of A is , where l ( Π ) is the length of Π the left and right self-injective dimensions of A are As a consequence, we get that the finiteness of the global dimension of gentle algebras is invariant under Avella-Geiss (AG)-equivalence. In addition, we get that the number of indecomposable non-projective Gorenstein projective modules over gentle algebras is also invariant under AG-equivalence.

Abstract:Important connections in representation theory arise from resolving a finite-dimensional algebra by an endomorphism algebra of a generator-cogenerator with finite global dimension; for instance, Auslander's correspondence, classical Schur--Weyl duality and Soergel's Struktursatz. Here, the module category of the resolution and the module category of the algebra being resolved are linked via an exact functor known as Schur functor. In this paper, we investigate how to measure the quality of the connection between module categories of (projective) Noetherian algebras, $B$, and module categories of endomorphism algebras of generators-relative cogenerators over $B$ which are split quasi-hereditary Noetherian algebras. In particular, we are interested in finding, if it exists, the highest degree $n$ so that the endomorphism algebra of a generator-cogenerator provides an $n$-faithful cover, in the sense of Rouquier, of $B$. The degree $n$ is known as Hemmer-Nakano dimension of the standard modules. We prove that the Hemmer-Nakano dimension of standard modules with respect to a Schur functor from a split highest weight category over a field to the module category of a finite-dimensional algebra $B$ is bounded above by the number of non-isomorphic simple modules of $B$. We establish methods how to reduce computations of Hemmer-Nakano dimensions in the integral setup to computations of Hemmer-Nakano dimensions over finite-dimensional algebras. This theory allows us to derive results for Schur algebras and the BGG category O in the integral setup from the finite-dimensional case using relative dominant dimension. We exhibit several structural properties of deformations of the blocks of the BGG category O establishing an integral version of Soergel's Struktursatz. We show that deformations of the combinatorial Soergel's functor have better homological properties than the classical one.

Acyclic complexes of injectives and finitistic dimensions

Abstract:For a ring $A$, we consider the question whether every bounded above cochain complex of injective $A$-modules which is acyclic is null-homotopic. We show that if $A$ is left and right noetherian and has a dualizing complex, then this implies that the finitistic dimension of $A$ is finite. In the appendix, Nakamura and Thompson show that the opposite holds over any ring. Our results give several new necessary and sufficient conditions for a ring to have finite finitistic dimension in a very general setting. Applications include a generalization of a recent result of Rickard about relations between unbounded derived categories and finitistic dimension, as well as several new characterizations of noetherian rings which satisfy the Gorenstein symmetry conjecture.

Abstract:Motivated by the Shafarevich conjecture, we introduce the notions of very general rigidity and generic rigidity to characterize the distribution of non-rigid families in the corresponding moduli space. Our main results focus on moduli spaces of polarized manifolds where the infinitesimal Torelli theorem holds. We show that if the derived Mumford-Tate group of the associated polarized $\mathbb{Z}$-variation of Hodge structures is absolutely simple, then the moduli space $\mathcal{M}$ has the very general rigidity property, meaning all non-rigid families are contained within a countable union of closed strict irreducible subschemes of $\mathcal{M}$. If, in addition, the associated Mumford-Tate domain is not a bounded symmetric domain of rank greater than one, then the moduli space exhibits a stronger rigidity property, generic rigidity, where the countable union in the definition of very general rigidity is replaced by a finite union. As a corollary of the generic rigidity, we establish a geometric version of the Bombieri-Lang-type finiteness result. Many examples of moduli spaces, such as those of projective hypersurfaces of certain degrees, satisfy the conditions of our main theorems. We also explore the relationship between the bases of maximally non-rigid families and special subvarieties in the moduli spaces of Calabi-Yau manifolds, inspired by a detailed analysis of Viehweg-Zuo's example of maximally non-rigid families of Calabi-Yau quintics in $\mathbb{P}^4$.

Abstract:This paper mainly considers Toeplitz algebras, subnormal tuples and rigidity concerning reproducing C[z1,…,zd]-modules. By making use of Arveson's boundary representation theory, we find there is more rigidity in several variables than there is in single variable. We specialize our attention to reproducing C[z1,…,zd]-modules with U-invariant kernels by examining the spectrum and the essential spectrum of the d-tuple {Mz1,…,Mzd}, and deducing an exact sequence of C∗-algebras associated with Toeplitz algebra. Finally, we deal with Toeplitz algebras defined on Arveson submodules and rigidity of Arveson submodules.

Abstract:Let $k$ be a global field and $\mathbb{A}_k$ be its ring of adeles. Let $\ell$ be a prime number and fix a field isomorphism from $\mathbb{C}$ to $\overline{\mathbb{Q}}_{\ell}$. Let $\Pi_1$ and $\Pi_2$ be cuspidal automorphic representations of ${\rm GL}_n(\mathbb{A}_k)$ for some integer $n\geq1$. In this paper, we study the following question: assuming that there is a finite set $S$ of places of $k$ containing all Archimedean places and all finite places above $\ell$ such that, for all $v\notin S$, the local components $\Pi_{1,v} \otimes_{\mathbb{C}} \overline{\mathbb{Q}}_{\ell}$ and $\Pi_{2,v} \otimes_{\mathbb{C}} \overline{\mathbb{Q}}_{\ell}$ are unramified and their Satake parameters are congruent mod $\ell$, are the local components $\Pi_{1,w} \otimes_{\mathbb{C}} \overline{\mathbb{Q}}_{\ell}$ and $\Pi_{2,w} \otimes_{\mathbb{C}} \overline{\mathbb{Q}}_{\ell}$ integral, and do their reductions mod $\ell$ share an irreducible factor for all non-Archimedean places $w$ not dividing $\ell$? We show that, under certain conditions on $\Pi_1$ and $\Pi_2$, the answer is yes. We also give a simple proof when $k$ is a function field.

Abstract:Let A be a CM-finite Artin algebra with a Gorenstein-Auslander generator E, M be a Gorenstein projective A -module and B = End A M . We give an upper bound for the finitistic dimension of B in terms of homological data of M . Furthermore, if A is n -Gorenstein for 2 ⩽ n < ∞, then we show the global dimension of B is less than or equal to n plus the B -projective dimension of Hom A ( M, E ). As an application, the global dimension of End A E is less than or equal to n .

Defect Invariant Nakayama Algebras

Abstract:We show that for a given Nakayama algebra $\Theta$, there exist countably many cyclic Nakayama algebras $\Lambda_i$, where $i \in \mathbb{N}$, such that the syzygy filtered algebra of $\Lambda_i$ is isomorphic to $\Theta$ and we describe those algebras $\Lambda_i$. We show, among these algebras, there exists a unique algebra $\Lambda$ where the defects, representing the number of indecomposable injective but not projective modules, remain invariant for both $\Theta$ and $\Lambda$. As an application, we achieve the classification of cyclic Nakayama algebras that are minimal Auslander-Gorenstein and dominant Auslander-regular algebras of global dimension three. Specifically, by using the Auslander-Iyama correspondence, we obtain cluster-tilting objects for certain Nakayama algebras. Additionally, we introduce cosyzygy filtered algebras and show that it is dual of syzygy filtered algebra.

Abstract:Algebras defined over fields of characteristic zero and positive characteristic usually do not behave the same way. However, for certain algebras, for example the group algebras, they behave the same way as the characteristic zero case at good enough prime. In this paper, we initiate the study of this topic by imposing increasingly strong hypotheses on basic algebras. When the algebras satisfy the right hypotheses, we have equalities of the dimensions of their cohomology groups between simple modules and equalities of graded Cartan numbers. The examples include the Solomon descent algebras of finite Coxeter groups at large enough primes, nil-Coxeter algebra, and certain finite semigroup algebras at an arbitrary prime.
