The Poetic Expression of the Sentimental Experience:Analyzing the emotion in The Eternal Regret Song written by BAI Ju-yi

Abstract:The emotional Psychology thinks that the nature of sentiment is actually a state of mood or a kind of negative subjective experience, which only occurs when the needs of a person cannot be satisfied by the matters in the objective world. This sort of experience is always presenting itself with a slightest touch of long lasting sorrows and sadness. The Eternal Regret Song is a rare combination of a ture love story and a talented and sensitive poet during the Mid-Tang Dynasty. The poem, full of the poet's deep regret on the tragedy of the fate of the whole human beings, thoroughly reveals his rich life experience and emotional grief of his time. Through the description of the awareness of death and the awareness of the loyalty of a wife to her lord, the poet, by upgrading the common feelings to the sense of beauty, thus finishes his poetic writing on the sentimental experience.
