Abstract:Chen Yinke and Qian Mu,starting with mutual interpretation between poetry and history,have made great contributions to the formation of poetics.First,they give a poetic interpretation to the formation of national culture;second,they conclusively prove that romantic personality embodies the cultural idiosyncrasy in the life of a nation;third,they provide a poetic description of the beautiful spirit in Chinese culture;and fourth,they lay stress on the free spiritual experience in the history of national literature.All these provide some enlightenments to the reconstruction of contemporary poetics and axiological aesthetics.

Abstract:Ouyang Xiu is a distinguished poet in the evolution of Ci, who carried forward the songs into the future. On the basis of Tang Wudai Dynasty Ci, he brought forth new changes in artistic conception, content as well as format, which hewed a path for Ci development since North and South Song Dynasty. The impact pushed the emergence of a set of songs(GuZi Ci) and Man Ci. Ouyang Xiu manifested his recreational life and genuine emotions by Ci with a varying but natural and passionate style which ranked the top in the songs arena of North Song Dynasty.

Abstract:Liu Xie put forward the two concepts of “sound pattern” and “shape pattern” in the “emotion and diction”. The beauty of sound pattern is point to the pleasing rhyming level, and the beauty of shape pattern is point to the colorful rhetoric level. This thesis uses the text of Yongwu Poetry in the Late-Tang Dynasty as a medium, then narrates the two concepts respectively: it analyzes the beauty of sound pattern from the sound law, the rhyme, the tone and the syllable; and also analyzes the beauty of shape pattern from the formation of the poetic picture and antithetical parallelism. The aesthetic effects which is constituted by the sound and shape shows up in the Yongwu Poetry, which can both beautify poetry language and conducive emotional expression. Because of these interaction, the affective beauty of Yongwu Poetry in the Late-Tang Dynasty has been more prominent.

The style of his ci poems is refreshing, lively, elegant, clear and quiet, possessing a literary value no one was able to afford to overlook in the world of ci poetry in the begining of the Song Dynasty.

Abstract:As one of the three representatives of the Tongcheng School,Liu Dakui inherited Fangbao's Yifa theory,which stated both literature and Dao,but placed more emphasis on literature.He divided literature into two aspects: writing and the material.Besides,he degraded argumentation,texts and economy to materials,upgraded literature to advantage,especially the position of syllables,thus directing Fangbao's Yifa theory to aesthetic literature and laying the groundwork for Yaonai's argumentation theory and syllable theory.It was an indispensable component of Tongcheng School literary theory and held a quite significant position in the history of Chinese prose.

Abstract:An important achievement of Tang Dynasty poetry was the birth of the theory of "Yijing". The theory of "Yijing" was an important category in Chinese classical aesthetics. During the Wei and Jin Dynasties, the theory of "imagery" had been put forward. However, aestheticians in the Tang Dynasty did not stop at "imagery". In terms of one category, it is possible to elevate "imagery" to a new category of "yijing" through the enlightenment of Chan thought, which further promoted the development of poetry after the Tang Dynasty.

On the Artistic Features of "Feng Poetry" through an Analysis of the Ballad Structure

Abstract:The author reexamines the characteristics of the lyrical poetry in Poetry Guo Feng by making a comparison between Feng poetry and the ballads recorded in Pre-Qin Books. He points out that a ballad is the direct expressions of the poet, who makes a reaction to something happened. Both Feng poetry and the ballads are lyrics that either express emotions or describe an isolated act or scenery. They do not portray the whole process of a story. In order to identify the theme and find out what engaged the poet’s attention for his reaction in the poem, one must look for references outside the text. It is commonly accepted that poetry is beyond translation. Given the fact that any type of interpretation of Poetry is subjective, Qian argues that the introduction to Mao Poetry, which was created in the time closest to the period when Feng Poetry was compiled, remains to be reexamined for its scholarly significance.

Abstract:This paper probes deeply into the aesthetic value and shaping mode of the characters in the works of the Tales of Liaozhai by Pu Songling, a Chinese writer in Qing Dynasty. By analyzing Pu Songling's writing style, aesthetic concept and the shaping way of several typical characters, this paper reveals his unique aesthetic pursuit and literary talent in his works. The contrast of the images of gods, demons and human beings, the characteristics of characters and the description of images all show Pu Songling's deep thinking about human nature, fate and supernatural power. The influence of the ancient aesthetic concept on his works and the re-interpretation of the characters under the contemporary aesthetic concept are also discussed. The characters in Pu Songling's works not only have historical significance, but also radiate new vitality and significance in the field of contemporary literature, bringing readers profound thinking and aesthetic experience.

Abstract:Han Yu and Yao He were important literary master from the mid Tang Dynasty,both leaving significant heritage in the history of Chinese literature. Although researchers seldom compare them in parallel,these two masters confronted the same issue of worldliness and solitude,since both of them were civil officials rising from the landlord class.Worldlinessmeans the speculation,hustle,and glamour of office,whilesolitudefocuses on the simplicity,tranquility,and peace of retreat in mountains and woods. Troubled by these conflicting aspirations,both the two masters had experienced the inward turn from aspiring to benefit the society to maintaining individual goodness. Such a turn conveys their concern and construction of their private world,whose prominent feature is the pursuit of leisure lifestyle of civil officials where they could manage their daily life with aesthetic attitude in their private world. Their leisurely and simple life attitude and elegant,quiet aesthetics have formed one of the essential elements of Chinese aesthetics.

Abstract:This paper,focusing on Ai Qing's opinions on poetry,formulates his essential stylistic concept-poetry as beautiful prose in terms of four aspects,i.e.,the new poetry(the free vernacular verse rising in modern China) has nothing to do with the traditional metrical poetry;the new poetry uses its language for expressing its imagery;the metrics and rhymes of the new poetry are closely related to the imagery it depicts,and "poetry as beautiful prose" correlates highly with "beautiful prose".It then summarizes the specific connotations of Ai's concept of "poetry as beautiful prose".

Abstract:Distinctive both from such court poets as Yu Shinan and Xu Jingzong and from such official poets as Wei Zheng and Wang Gui in the royal year of Zhenguan,Wang Ji was a poet of individual style in the early Tang Dynasty.His poems were noble in mood and bold in strength,which influenced deeply the poetry reforms of those well-known poets in the early and the prosperous Tang Dynasty,including Chen Zi'ang and Zhang Jiuling.Wang's art of poem writing was directly derived from the group of Shandong poets headed by Lu Sidao and Xue Daoheng who served the North Zhou Dynasty first and then the Sui Dynasty,and his cultural spirit from the Hefen civilization as a branch of Shandong culture.This understanding of the origin of Wang Ji's art of poem writing will path the way for a better interpretation of the distinctions of artistic mechanism and cultural connotation of his poetry.
