Abstract:A path-factor in a graph G is a spanning subgraph F of G such that every component of F is a path. Let d and n be two nonnegative integers with dÂ â‰¥Â 2. A P â‰¥ d-factor of G is its spanning subgraph each of whose components is a path with at least d vertices. A graph G is called a P â‰¥ d-factor covered graph if for any eÂ âˆˆÂ E( G), G admits a P â‰¥ d-factor containing e. Abstract:Let G be a graph and let be a path on n vertices. A spanning subgraph H of G is called a -factor if every component of H is one of and . In 1994, Wang (J Graph Theory 18(2):161–167, 1994) gave a sufficient and necessary condition to ensure that a bipartite graph contains a -factor. In this paper, we use an equivalent form of Wang-type condition to establish two sufficient conditions to ensure that there exists a -factor in a connected bipartite graph, in which one is based on the size, the other is based on the spectral radius of the bipartite graph.

Abstract:A path factor is a spanning subgraph F of G such that every component of F is a path with at least two vertices. We write P≥k = {Pi : i ≥ k}. Then a P≥k-factor of G means a path factor in which every component admits at least k vertices, where k ≥ 2 is an integer. A graph G is called a P≥k-factor avoidable graph if for any e ∈ E(G), G admits a P≥k-factor excluding e. A graph G is called a (P≥k, n)-factor critical avoidable graph if for any Q ⊆ V (G) with |Q| = n, G − Q is a P ≥k-factor avoidable graph. Let G be an (n + 2)-connected graph. In this paper, we demonstrate that (i) G is a (P≥2, n)-factor critical avoidable graph if tough(G)>n+24 ; (ii) G is a (P≥3, n)-factor critical avoidable graph if tough(G)>n+12 ; (iii) G is a (P≥2, n)-factor critical avoidable graph if I(G)>n+23 ; (iv) G is a (P≥3, n)-factor critical avoidable graph if I(G)>n+32 . Furthermore, we claim that these conditions are sharp.

Abstract:Let A be a set of connected graphs. Then a spanning subgraph A of G is called an A-factor if each component of A is isomorphic to some member of A. Especially, when every graph in A is a path, A is a path factor. For a positive integer d ≥ 2, we write P≥d = {Pi|i ≥ d}. Then a P≥d-factor means a path factor in which every component admits at least d vertices. A graph G is called a (P≥d,m)-factor deleted graph if G – E′ admits a P≥d-factor for any E′ ⊆ E(G) with |E′| = m. A graph G is called a (P≥d, k)-factor critical graph if G – Q has a P≥d-factor for any Q ⊆ V (G) with |Q| = k. In this paper, we present two degree conditions for graphs to be (P≥3,m)-factor deleted graphs and (P≥3, k)-factor critical graphs. Furthermore, we show that the two results are best possible in some sense.

A $P_{\geq k}$-factor of $G$ means a path factor in which every component has at least $k$ vertices. A graph $G$ is called a $P_{\geq k}$-factor avoidable graph if for any $e\in E(G)$, $G$ has a $P_{\geq k}$-factor avoiding $e$. Abstract:In 2014, some scholars showed that every 2-connected claw-free graph G with independence number α(G)≤3 is Hamiltonian with one exception of family of graphs. If a nontrivial path contains only internal vertices of degree two and end vertices of degree not two, then we call it a branch. A set S of branches of a graph G is called a branch cut if we delete all edges and internal vertices of branches of S leading to more components than G. We use a branch bond to denote a minimal branch cut. If a branch-bond has an odd number of branches, then it is called odd. In this paper, we shall characterize all 2-connected claw-free graphs G such that every odd branch-bond of G has an edge branch and such that α(G)≤5 but has no 2-factor. We also consider the same problem for those 2-edge-connected claw-free graphs with α(G)≤4.

Abstract:Let G be a graph, and let k, r be nonnegative integers with k ≥ 2. A k-factor of G is a spanning subgraph F of G such that dF(x) = k for each x ∈ V (G), where dF(x) denotes the degree of x in F. For S ⊆ V (G), NG(S) = ∪x∊SNG(x). The binding number of G is defined by bind(G)=min{|NG(S)||S|:∅≠S⊂V(G),NG(S)≠V(G)}$\begin{array}{} (G) = {\rm{min }}\{ \frac{{|{N_G}(S)|}}{{|S|}}:\emptyset \ne S \subset V(G),{N_G}(S) \ne V(G)\} \end{array}$. In this paper, we obtain a binding number and neighborhood condition for a graph to have a k-factor excluding a given r-factor. This result is an extension of the previous results.

A $P_{\geq k}$-factor means a path-factor with each component being a path of order at least $k$. Furthermore, we provide a graph to show that the bound on $A_{\alpha}$-spectral radius is optimal.

Abstract:A graph G is called a (P->= n, k)-factor-critical covered graph if for any Q subset of V(G) with vertical bar Q vertical bar = k and any e is an element of E(G - Q), G - Q has a P-<= n-factor covering e. We demonstrate that (i) a (k + 1)-connected graph G with at least k + 3 vertices is a (P->= 3, k)-factor-critical covered graph if its toughness t(G) > (2 + k)/3; (ii) a (k + 2)-connected graph G is a (P->= 3, k)-factor-critical covered graph if its isolated toughness I(G) > (5 + k)/3. Furthermore, we show that the conditions on t(G) and I(G) are sharp.

Abstract:Given a graph G and an integer k≥2 , a spanning subgraph H of G is called a P≥k -factor of G if every component of H is a path with at least k vertices. A graph G is P≥k -factor avoidable if for every edge e∈E(G) , G has a P≥k -factor excluding e . A graph G is said to be (P≥k,n) -factor critical avoidable if the graph G−V′ is P≥k -factor avoidable for any V′⊆V(G) with |V′|=n . Here we study the sharp bounds of toughness and isolated toughness conditions for the existence of (P≥3,n) -factor critical avoidable graphs. In view of graph theory approaches, this paper mainly contributes to verify that (i) An (n+2) -connected graph is (P≥3,n) -factor critical avoidable if its toughness τ(G)>n+24 ; (ii) An (n+2) -connected graph is (P≥3,n) -factor critical avoidable if its isolated toughness I(G)>n+64 .

Abstract:Let G be a graph and be a set of connected graphs. A spanning subgraph H of G is called an –factor if each component of H is isomorphic to a member of . In this paper, we first present a lower bound on the size (resp. the spectral radius) of G to guarantee that G has a –factor (or a perfect k –matching for even k ) and construct extremal graphs to show all this bounds are best possible. We then provide a lower bound on the signless laplacian spectral radius of G to ensure that G has a –factor, where is an integer. Moreover, we also provide some Laplacian eigenvalue (resp. toughness) conditions for the existence of –factor, –factor and –factor in G , respectively. Some of our results extend or improve the related existing results.

Abstract:For a set { A , B , C , ...} of graphs, an { A , B , C , ...}-factor of a graph G is a spanning subgraph F of G , where each component of F is contained in { A , B , C , ...}. It is very interesting to investigate the existence of factors in a graph with given minimum degree from the prospective of eigenvalues. We first propose a tight sufficient condition in terms of the Q -spectral radius for a graph involving minimum degree to contain a star factor. Moreover, we also present tight sufficient conditions based on the Q -spectral radius and the distance spectral radius for a graph involving minimum degree to guarantee the existence of a { K 2 , { C k }}-factor, respectively.

Graph connectivity with fixed endpoints in the random-connection model

Abstract:We consider the count of subgraphs with an arbitrary configuration of endpoints in the random-connection model based on a Poisson point process on ${\Bbb R}^d$. We present combinatorial expressions for the computation of the cumulants and moments of all orders of such subgraph counts, which allow us to estimate the growth of cumulants as the intensity of the underlying Poisson point process goes to infinity. As a consequence, we obtain a central limit theorem with explicit convergence rates under the Kolmogorov distance, and connectivity bounds. Numerical examples are presented using a computer code in SageMath for the closed-form computation of cumulants of any order, for any type of connected subgraph and for any configuration of endpoints in any dimension $d\geq 1$. In particular, graph connectivity estimates, Gram-Charlier expansions for density estimation, and correlation estimates for joint subgraph counting are obtained.

Abstract:The issues of ruggedness and vulnerability are cruxes in network security research, which must be considered during the network designing phase. Parameters such as toughness, isolated toughness, and binding number characterize the vulnerable of the network from the structure of networks. The path factor, a special case of the generalized Script capital H-factor, measures the feasibility of data transmission in networks. Recent advances have been obtained to show that there is an inevitable connection between the vulnerability parameters of the network and the existence of path factors, while we found that some existing theoretical results are not tight and there is still a long way for further improvement. In view of graph theory approaches, this paper mainly contributes to determine the sharp bounds of toughness, isolated toughness, and binding number for the existence of path factor in different settings, and therefore solve the open problems left unsolved in previous articles.

Abstract:In 1970 Lov{á}sz gave a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of a factor $F$ in a graph $G$ such that for each vertex $v$, $g(v)\le d_F(v)\le f(v)$, where $g$ and $f$ are two integer-valued functions on $V(G)$ with $g\le f$. In this paper, we give a sufficient edge-connectivity condition for the existence of an $m$-tree-connected factor $H$ in a bipartite graph $G$ with bipartition $(X,Y)$ such that its complement is $m_0$-tree-connected and for each vertex $v$, $d_H(v)\in \{g(v),f(v)\}$, provided that for each vertex $v$, $g(v)+m_0\le \frac{1}{2}d_G(v)\le f(v)-m$ and $|f(v)-g(v)|\le k$, and there is $h(v)\in \{g(v),f(v)\}$ in which $\sum_{v\in X}h(v)=\sum_{v\in Y}h(v)$. Moreover, we generalize this result to general graphs. As an application, we give sufficient conditions for the existence of tree-connected $\{g,f\}$-factors in edge-connected graphs and tough graphs.
