Abstract:Flexure hinges have been studied since 1960s. Recent intensive interest in MEMS makes flexure hinges our research focus again. As, an important part in micro-positioner, flexure hinges influence the accuracy, stability and durability of the entire system. This paper focuses on shape optimization of flexure hinges in an effort to obtain optimized accuracy and stress. We modeled several groups of flexure hinges, including right circular hinges, elliptical hinges, corner-filleted hinges and right angle hinges, with same stiffness by ANSYS, their accuracy and maximum stress were then compared, and results were presented and discussed, a conclusion was finally drawn.

Abstract:The process of the automobile door's adjustment was analyzed integrated with the characteristics of manual work. The kinematics model of the door's position and orientation was established to describe the adjustment courses. The processes of the different levels of skills were simulated based on the model. The better sequence was chosen via the information differences among the simulation results. The proposed method affords a powerful aid to the assembly process planning.

Abstract:Gap evenness and flushness between car doors and body-in-white (BIW) openings are appropriate quality criteria. They affect not only the car's functional value such as in door-closing effectiveness, rattle, wind noise, and water leakage, but also the vehicle's aesthetic value to customers. They have a direct and crucial influence on the dimensional integrity and quality of the car door. With the aim of improving these complex processes, a new fitting quality evaluation model is built, in which the directed Hausdorff distance (DHD) from graphics recognition and matching is adopted to measure the degree to which the door and body opening profiles match by high fitting resolution and quick fitting computation. Also, the door-welding multiple physical fields coupled finite element method (FEM) model and simulation are presented allowing for the thermal effects of welding. Furthermore, a new systematical car-door-fitting method is proposed, integrating and compensating variation from the thermal effects of welding. Genetic algorithm (GA) is applied to search global optimization of fitting variables quickly and effectively. Finally, a software prototype is developed under a MATLAB environment. A case study of certain door-fitting designs shows that the proposed method can effectively improve fitting quality and accuracy.

It also brings forward basic requirements of door compound hinge, including function performance of overloading, life time, erosion-resistance, high & low temperature resistance. Abstract:Indicated engineer specification of outer surface stiffness,introduced the concept of high usage zone and low usage zone,and different zone meets corresponding specification,and described customer perceived needs more detailedly and accurately.Pointed out all effect factor for outer surface stiffness and sorted these factors according to different attribute,and improved knowledge of each factor impacting stiffness areas and results.Engineer design procedure consists of the following four step which are engineering for impact whole part,engineering for impacting primary zone,estimate engineering solution and engineering for impacting local zone,analyzing each step in detail,and the four step formed closed engineering design model.According to initial result type of door outer panel stiffness,it takes corresponding improved engineering solution.The model is applied to the optimization of door engineering design,demonstrating its effectiveness.

Abstract:The architecture of ergonomics simulation and evaluation for the automobile was described. Ergonomics analysis and evaluation is one of the most important processes in product design at present. This ergonomics simulation system based on the elements of ergonomics analysis and evaluation can provide an excellent solution to take human element into account earlier in the design phase and make proactive choices in automobile design than those traditional methods. Thinking of the characteristics of the automobile industry, this system adopted the anatomy-based and parameterized human model for Chinese, the simulation technique using motion editing and the mathematical models of ergonomics to solve real ergonomic design problems in the design phases.

Abstract:As the demands of customers in the modern industry increased, the number of products, and the variety of components has increased. These issues have led to difficulties in product development and production. Modularization of products has advantages such as cost reduction, product development time reduction, and production time reduction. Modular design of products has been studied in the design activities of the modern industry. In this study, a modular design method is proposed to design a modular product based on axiomatic design (AD) and design structure matrix (DSM). AD and DSM are efficiently integrated into the proposed method. Functional requirements and design parameters are defined based on the Independence Axiom of AD, and the zigzagging process of AD is employed for the decomposition of the functional requirements (FRs) and design parameters (DPs). The design sequence is established based on the design matrix. Coupled or functionally close DPs are grouped into a module (Module 1). These modules are efficiently used in the design sequence. DSM is used to modularize the design parameters of the lowest level of axiomatic design. DSM is constructed based on physical interfaces and numerical clustering algorithms are used to identify strongly related components. They are grouped into a module (Module 2). Module 2 is exploited for production and management. Therefore, these two modules for different purposes can be used to increase efficiency in the design and production process. The proposed method is applied to two automobile parts such as the suspension system and cooling system. The results are discussed from the viewpoint of usefulness.

Abstract:Our research describes the optimization of car door hinges. The model we are considering is a pair of upper and lower hinges of car doors and cases of their loading. Optimization of this part of the vehicle consists in reducing the mass of the product, which is taken as the target function, while maintaining the mechanical characteristics within acceptable values. The characteristics of various types of manufacturing, such as milling, casting, and additive manufacturing, were also used as optimization criteria. During the research the authors have undertaken the task of using the most advanced approaches for calculation, optimization and analysis of their results, which are the use of special calculation systems, calculations that are performed on the GPU, what is the way much reduces the required optimization time, methods of generative design to achieve the required criteria and consideration of possible methods of manufacture of the workpiece in terms of additive manufacturing. The result of our research is the concept of optimizing vehicle door hinges and selecting the appropriate production method. As a test of the positive effect of the applied method, a repeated static calculation of the structure was made, based on the optimized geometry.

Abstract:Study was made on the stamping defects of a complex vehicle front door shell plate and the solution was proposed. The reasons of parts deformation and slip of edge line were analyzed. A process modeling which has some partial deviation from the product design was established; and the die profile suitable for the drawing process was formed. The addendum surface was redesigned in which the setting of process convex hull and sag compensation solved the deformation problems of mounting groove corner of the door handle. The pressure treatment was used to regulate local materials flow; the traditional pressure zone was optimized and the slip lines were controlled finally. The finite element model was established to simulate and verify the design scheme and the qualified drawing parts were manufactured in the production workshop.

Abstract:The exterior styling of an automobile usually brings visually aesthetic feeling and sense of achievement to customers or users.However,a bodywork interior structure is not always emphasized.As a matter of fact,the bodywork interior structure has an important position in a vehicle,and is necessarily an integral part as well.The dash-panel upper assembly is one of the most important integral parts in the bodywork system.It plays an important role in bodywork torsional stiffness assurance,cockpit environment improvement,and safety increase during the collision.The structural form,function,design considerations,and important role in the bodywork are particularly discussed in respect of dash-panel upper assembly in this paper.Furthermore,the basic design process of dash-panel upper assembly is also introduced.

Abstract:The non-standard wedge aided design system of automobile panel die was developed base on the CATIA CAA secondary development technology.In the system,the replacement process was optimized by the judging method along the closed surface direction of bounding box and along the plane direction of reference coordinate system to ensure the validity of replacement.Then,the design method of non-standard wedge part was optimized by standard part design method based on the position sketch to realize quick adjustment of the standard part number and position.Furthermore,combining parameterization template of CATIA with years of design experience and design standard from enterprises,they were integrated to guarantee the consistency and rationality of the non-standard wedge design.According to the practical statistics from enterprises,the efficiency of non-standard wedge design was increased by about 50%.

Abstract:The drawing process of an interior car door panel was analyzed and optimized by using CAD/CAE software,UG and Dynaform.The press direction and drawing depth of the product were determined and the area with press negative angle was modified partly.Several key issues like the shape of blank,the size of die gap and the plan of drawing rib,etc.were discussed.Finally,optimum process parameters and die structure were determined based on CAD/CAE technology.

Abstract:In the past, materials selection for automotive components has been managed on a part-by-part basis. As a result, the economics of these selections have often been reduced to comparing material price/property ratios, rather than technological options. More recently, the debate around modular designs and their advantages and disadvantages has shifted the emphasis towards a higher level viewpoint that deals with more complex systems. This approach provides the opportunity to search for new combinations of product architecture and materials that may exploit specific material advantages better than the classic part-by-part replacement. This paper presents the results of an economic analysis for two different door designs. The door designs differ both with regards to their product architectures and with regards to the materials they employ. The economic analysis considers the following process steps: parts fabrication, subassembly, paint, and final assembly (trim) for two production scenarios. The case study reveals several findings. First, the analysis concludes that both door designs offer a potential economic advantage depending on the final production volume. Specifically, the conventional design is considered more appropriate for high volume production, whilst the alternative design is more cost effective at production volumes typical of niche and derivative vehicles. Second, since the choice of design architecture has an influence on all sub systems, meaningful comparisons between the architectures may be made only through the adoption of comprehensive cost models. For example, the case study demonstrates that the choice of certain product architectures can help mitigate disadvantages caused by higher input material costs. Finally, the case study finds that the cost savings from ‘commonization’ of components vary depending on the base production volume.

Abstract:Checking fixture design is a complicated task requiring a strong professional background and rich practical experience. In order to enhance design efficiency and quality, this paper proposes a computer-aided checking fixture design methodology. The key issues include a new minimal volume bounding box generation approach for workbench design, a multi-objective optimisation algorithm of locator layout for location design, a multi-surface extension and transition method for checking components design and a flexible part library system to reuse standard parts and to assemble them automatically. As an implementation of the system based on the key methods, Checking Fixture Design Wizard for automobile parts, a plug-in on CAD software, is developed. Finally, a car door checking fixture design is taken as a case study to verify its feasibility and practicability.

Abstract:Abstract: The main aim of this project is the design, analysis and optimization of car doors. The car door is one of the essential parts of the vehicle, made of plastic, steel, and aluminum materials. Safety is a concern for automobile users due to the number of accidents happen and the increase the number of car users. The car door protects the passenger from external impact. The energy-absorbing capacity of the door has the potential to reduce the impact of the door. Automobile industries have been focused on the optimization of doors and increasing the efficiency of the vehicle. The impact analysis is done with a falling steel ball as per the specification, and the crashworthiness is studied. Improve the design until we get the best result for improving the safety of the door design. This analysis reduces the damage to cars and protects passengers. This analysis reduces the impact by 10%. The design of the car door is done using CATIA. Our problem statement focuses on side-impact analysis using software tools like Hypermesh and LS-Dyna.

Abstract:Numerical simulation of the injection molding process of the outer panel of the automotive plastic rear door and mold design is presented here. Computer aided three-dimensional interactive application (CATIA) is employed to design the original automotive steel structure, and the modal and thermodynamic properties of the plastic back door outer panel are changed by changing the different injection materials of the back door outer panel. In order to efficiently design the panels, finite element analysis is used to verify whether the designed parts meet the mechanical properties requirements such as light weight, low fuel consumption, short production cycle, strong modeling design, high corrosion resistance and good recovery, the above main parameters have been evaluated, and the above main parameters are carried out evaluate. To simulate the injection molding process, computer aided engineering (CAE) software such as ANSYS and HyperWorks are used to analyze the back door of the selected material. After the numerical analysis, suitable material is selected, so that the modal and thermodynamic properties of the product could be satisfied as well as improved. Unigraphics NX (UG) is employed to design the convex and concave mold for the injection molding of the automobile’s plastic back door panel. Combined with the characteristics of the parts and the design requirements of the injection mold, the multi-scheme design of the pouring and cooling system is carried out. By comparing the effects of different gating and cooling systems on injection molding, the best gating and cooling system is selected. The artificial fish swarm algorithm is used to optimize the process parameters of the injection molding process, and the best combination of the injection molding process parameters of the outer panel of the rear door of the automobile is obtained.
