Abstract:The principal carbon nanotubes synthesis processes also involve the production of nanoparticles with different dimensions and morphology. In this research carbon nanotubes and carbon nanobeads were synthesized by one-pot chemical vapor deposition method, using a quartz experimental reactor at 760 °C. Benzene was used as carbon source, ferrocene as catalyst and argon as carrier gas. The obtained samples were separated in two parts according to their deposition zone. The nanostructures were analyzed through field emission scanning and transmission electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy and x-ray diffraction; all samples have high carbon content (above 92 wt %). Results demonstrated that the samples from the inner reactor present a predominance of nanobeads with higher crystallite sizes and degree of crystallinity in contrast to the carbon nanotubes found on the substrate surface.
